I need help badly as I have had a roaring pressing in my ears for 2 weeks and ent and md said tinnitus. They gave little hope to ease symptoms. This keeps me awake and have to take ambien to fall asleep. I have been on remeron and ambien for about 6 years, however, my therapist states that I am free to stop the meds. I hear this roaring all day long and it is worse at night. I have profound hearing nerve loss but have never experience anything like this before.

i have been suffering from dampened/muffled hearing in my left ear on and off for about 2 years now. sometimes im fine, but when the flare ups occur its miserable. i also find that wheni grab my ear and pull back, my hearing seems to be perfectly fine, however when i let go or leave it alone it dampens. sometimes it gets to where i can basically hear nothing out of it and it feels like just pressure in my ear with the dampened hearing.
I'm trying to treat hearing loss from antibiotics. how can you know if the hearing loss is autoimmune? can a immunologist help with that?
In the end, if your hearing loss is permanent, and if there is some residual hearing left, a hearing aid can be worn, to help you hear better, and it will diminish the tinnitus. That said, hearing aids are not a cure for either tinnitus or hearing loss.
One more note, I hope they use contrast with the MRI, other wise the MRI will have little diagnostic value.
My doctor perscribes hydrocodone-Acetiminophen 5-500 for my severe neck tension and I take 1-1/2 almost every night. Never more than that. But, I noticed hearing seems to be dimmer in my left ear. Did research on hearing loss with this drug and now I'm scared to death. I want OFF! Can my hearing be reversed when I get this out of my system?
The ent I went to ordered an MRI and called to tell me that it showed nothing and just blew me off! He obviously is not taking my situation seriously. My sudden hearing loss was acute 2days ago, but then suddenly was 99 percent better when I awoke yesterday! Now again today I am almost completely deaf in the left ear. This intermittant hearing loss is puzzeling and confusing. I also feel a building pressure and tinitis, which I've had for months. I don't have any dizziness.
I mostly ask this question because music is a very important part of my life, i focus most of my time around musical activitys, im very concerned if working in a call center may damage my hearing and if that tinnitus is a sign of this. I get other symptoms, like sometimes my ears hurt, or i hear a popping sound and also i feel like theres water inside.
He declared that it might be a case that i am having such problem of my hearing loss in my left year since my childhood and told me that it is a problem in my ear nerve which is not curable never in future. It will remain same. Since then i have prescribed 2-3 doctors but all have the same views. I am 23 year old now and i haven't found any improvement in my hearing in left year.
Two years ago I had my hearing tested by an ENT. He said I had 40% hearing loss and that it was probably genetic and I should check into hearing aids. I told him I can hear perfect after yawning but it only lasts for a few minutes. He said a lot of people say that.

For approximately 1 month I have been experiencing a partial loss of hearing in my right ear. It feels to me like a blockage of some kind. After cold of 3-4 days, I observed problem of low hearing especially while chewing or eating food. Overall I feel hearing loss but while eating food, I can’t hear voice of person sitting next to me or television’s voice. As soon as chewing has finished voice is audible.
Can someone suggest any solution for this problem?
The tinnitus ranges between the sound of a dog whistle, tea pot or the high pitched frequency an old tv or computer monitor produces. I do not have a sensor neural hearing loss based on the hearing test I had done at the ENT office. In fact it turned out very good. A CT scan and MRI don't warrant any major problems such as tumors.

You seem to be having hyperaute hearing. It may be due to magnesium deficiency. Try taking some magnesium supplements and see if the condition improves.
Many people have reported increased auditory hypersensitivity during periods of stress and anxiety. Sometimes medicines like aspirin, Benadryl, Beta blockers, Motrin etc causes increased sensitivity to sounds.Pls check these conditions.
I have told people over and over about my experiences with ambien (sleep driving, sleep eating, and hair loss). It made me lose all grips on reality. It also destroyed me physicall and mentally. I wished I would have never heard of the c r a p. I have been clean from it for 6 months and I hope I never experience anything like it again. It was my fault because I wasn't taking it as prescribed. Whatever you do, only take one at bedtime.
