Common Questions and Answers about Ambien and gastritis

ambien

Avatar n tn A major part of the symptoms I am aiming at is abdominal irritation (gastritis), mal absorption, constipation ... for 30+ years now. The Ambien has reduced to eliminate the abdominal distress and my stool is looking healthier. Note I am in the process of getting test for H. Pylori. I am getting feed back that Ambien does not act as a painkiller so am of the mind that I am on the right track that anxiety is the underlying problem with my stomach.
Avatar f tn It is true that you are not suppose to use enzymes if a person has gastritis? Reply: This is a little tricky. Yes, most places have a disclaimer saying that if you have gastrities, avoid the strong protease formulations. There are some enzyme products with low or no proteases that are for gastritis patients (like Gastro from Enzymedica).
Avatar n tn I have had gastritis for a year. I have had an endoscopy and a colonoscopy, and was diagnosed with gastritis. I am on Nexium and Carafate. Nothing seems to help with the gastritis. I have suffered for so long that I am willing to try anything at this point that will help. I have heard that Mastic Gum works for this condition. Is it safe to take? I am a diabetic.
Avatar n tn Ambien will help you get some sleep so yes I would say it is good. I worked for a Dr. before and the highest dose I saw given was a total of 12mg. So if the tab was 6mg then the patient could take 2. Taking 2 10mg of ambien seems a little high to me.Maybe someone else could answer better than me. I am one of those people that ambien doesn't work. I have tried Ambien cr, Lunesta (sp?) and regular Ambien and still couldn't get any sleep.
Avatar m tn I'm no doctor, so I definitely can't give you any medical information on Ambien, but I can relay my personal experience with it. I've been on Ambien (currently 10mg) for SEVERAL years now (5 or more). I have many chronic pain conditions, including fibroymalgia. One of the major symptoms of fibro is insomnia - which I definitely suffer from!
1568041 tn?1311615212 Does she think it's an issue? Personally,I think Ambien is a dangerous drug to be taking all the time. But,if she can't sleep and hasn't increased her dose for a year, then this is her lifestyle. I don't agree with it either but I know insomnia can be just horrible. There are other things she can take. If she wants to try it, suggest Melatonin and Valerian root. It's safe and it works for a lot of people. However, anyone on SSRI's should avoid Melatonin.
Avatar f tn Hello mom and welcome. Heroin and ambien are both central nervous system depressants. Taken together it is very dangerous as they both depress the respiratory and central nervous system. How old is your son? Does he live with you? How long has he been Abusing drugs for?
Avatar f tn At least 6-7 years at a pop and can stop it with very mild consequences. Some lack of sleep and maybe some headaches and neck/back pain but really nothing. Try OTC Advil pm or something maybe.

2069525 tn?1331349398 I went in because my stomach was hurting (side of abdomen) and had the sensation of someone wrapping there hands around my throat. I left the hospital and was put on Flagyl and Cipro. The pain went away after 3 to 4 days. After my visit from the hospital, I was speaking to a friend and told her what happened. She stated that she thinks I may have Crohn's. Since shes known me I have always needed to go to the bathroom after eating. Sometime I go several times in a day.

Avatar m tn The endoscope that proved I am infected with gastritis was 20 days a go, and yes I am still suffering from this disease and the Librax and the Motilium are for this desease and I use it now. My disease story is as follow: twelve years ago, I suffered from stomach pain, all the doctors I met was advising me to take Lansoprazole, or Amprazole, or Rantadine. Avatar m tn It has come to a point where I need to medicate myself with several different medicines in order to fall asleep. I usually take Ambien 10 mg and I take two od those and sometimes Xanax 1 mg. I have noticed that Ambien doesnt really help much anymore. I just feel weird when I take it. Sometimes when I dont take anything to sleep and I manage to fall asleep, I have very vivid dreams and nightmares. Even after taking medicine, I dont usually fall asleep until 4 am and I am up at 8 or 9.
Avatar m tn 5 weeks after treatment I was still having symptoms so I had an endoscopy and biopsy of my stomach showed moderate chronic gastritis in the antrum and that was all. Biopsy of my small intestine was normal. I feel like I have an upset stomach almost all the time and right after I eat my stomach feels upset, like what I'm eating isn't agreeing with me. This happens no matter what I eat. But then about 1.5-2 hours after I eat I start feeling kind of nauseous.
750172 tn?1256147076 Hi, I was just googling Ambien and Lexapro and read your question. I take Ambien here and there, since I have trouble staying asleep, and have recently become severely depressed and got some Lexapro from a friend, (I know not the best thing to do, but... such is life), but wanted to know if you had any issues taking the two.
Avatar f tn I want to quit taking xanax and ambien. I have been on both for a few years. I also take Subxone. I take 12.5 mg of ambien and .5mg of xanax 2 or 3 times per day. Can I quit cold turkey without? I have heard xanax withdrawal can cause seizures,, but am not sure if my dose is high enough to worry about that.
Avatar m tn I did an endoscopy and the doctor said that I have mild gastritis and that the symptoms I am describing were not conected with it. I don't buy it. I did complete blood check, my B12 is fine, my thyroid is okay, I am anemic, but always have been... Has anyone of you guys faced such symptom with gastritis? I don't know what to do anymore. Tnx in adavnce for your help.
Avatar f tn My endoscopy revealed severe gastritis. My labs and biopsys were clear as well and the GI placed me on a treatment regime that I appear to be responding to. I recently read my GI's consultation in which he wrote that he was highly concerned as I presented with right lower quadrant pain and reported to him a history of slight anemia.
Avatar n tn I am 34 and was referred by endocrine doctor to take Dexamethasone Oral (1000mg) for a test. i'm suppose to take the pill at night and have a blood test in the morning. I have chronic gastritis and suffered before several horrible attacks (I fainted and almost couldn't breath). I had serious anemia (low ferritin & iron levels )for almost 3 years because of this infection and it took me long time to fix it.
Avatar m tn Namaste, It could be a side effect of the Ambien. Are you experencing these symptoms just in the morning or all day? Try not taking the Ambien for a few days and see if yor symptoms improve and if they do, you'll know the cause.
Avatar n tn Multiple biopsies were obtained and set to pathology. Gastritis was found in the antrum. Biopsies of the antrum and body of the stomache were obtained and sent o pathology. The duodenal bulb was normal in appearance, as was the postbublar duodendum. Normal duodenal folds were noted. Retroflexed views of the cardia revealed no abnormalities. " what is an irregular GE junction? What are they looking for in the biopsy?
1166402 tn?1303847056 I just started 20 mg of generic Celexa (3 days ago) and the doc also gave me Ambien and Klonopin (take .25mg) to relieve the anxiety until the Celexa kicks in. I wake up shaky/hot and kind of panicky. Which drug is this from drugs, or is it still the anxiety. I know this takes time, but I don't want to mess with any drugs that might be making the symptoms worse (i.e Klonopin or Ambien). I also don't want to become dependent on the Klonopin and ambien either.

Avatar m tn I started taking Alprazolem for anxiety 15 years ago. Since then I only take .5mg at night to help me relax and fall asleep. I now find the the 1 pill at night is not helping me sleep. So I started taking Ambien CR and stopped taking the Alprazolem. I'm sleeping great, but feel terrible in the morning. I feel nausea and tingling numbnest in my arm and face. Do you think its from the Ambien or from me stopping the alprazolem. Any advice?
Avatar f tn In us I have taken a blood test and abdominal ultrosound which is normal, then i took another endoscopy which shows mild gastritis and i am still waiting for biopsy result. Avatar n tn I have told people over and over about my experiences with ambien (sleep driving, sleep eating, and hair loss). It made me lose all grips on reality. It also destroyed me physicall and mentally. I wished I would have never heard of the c r a p. I have been clean from it for 6 months and I hope I never experience anything like it again. It was my fault because I wasn't taking it as prescribed. Whatever you do, only take one at bedtime.
603543 tn?1255294450 Did you ask your pharmacist if abilify and ambien and any other meds you might be taking, including OTC meds, might be interacting to cause you to feel like this? Sometimes pharmacists know more about adverse drug interactions than dr's. Just a thought.
