Ambien and effexor

Common Questions and Answers about Ambien and effexor

ambien

Avatar f tn t helping as much as it used to, I saw a psychiatrist who advised that I continue the Effexor (same dosage) and add Lexapro 1xday 10mg. He also prescribed Ambien for insomnia and Ativan for panic attacks. I feel better as far as anxiety goes but symptoms of depression are very much still there. I have no energy at all. No motivation. If it were up to me, I would stay in bed all day. Would a stimulant be helpful in my situation?
603543 tn?1255294450 Thank you... I thought the ambien was too strong, but I was so happy to sleep again...Now the abilify, I was suppose to increase from 2 mg today to 4mg, I wanted to tknow if 2 mg was a thereaputic dose and also can I take have of that and take 1 mg since Im so sensititve and that might work, Its been keeping me up at night the abilify, makes my mind and body racy and alert...Waiting for my dr to call back, but sometimes that doesnt happen......
603543 tn?1255294450 Did you ask your pharmacist if abilify and ambien and any other meds you might be taking, including OTC meds, might be interacting to cause you to feel like this? Sometimes pharmacists know more about adverse drug interactions than dr's. Just a thought.
Avatar n tn I take klonopin, also, plus zoloft and vistiril, ultram for pain, and sertraline for sleep, ambien as needed (i havent need to take the ambien yet). You may want to talk to your doctor about possibly raising your dose of klonopin and/or adding vistiril, as doing so might ease your nervousness.
647120 tn?1256601651 I stay active, do my physical therapy exercises, take Ultram twice a day for pain, Xanax 1-3 times a day, Effexor in the morning, and Robaxin and Ambien at night to sleep and let my muscles rest. Today my doctor insisted that I take more Effexor, so I took a second dose this afternoon and was cleaning house like Samantha Stevens when she casts a hurry-up spell on herself.
Avatar m tn I suffer from sleep disorder and anxiety once in a while, i was taking xanax .5mg every night to be able to sleep but now I want to get completely off it. I used to take regular ambien to get a good night rest and everything was fine and dandy. one time I thought I was having freaking heart attack and I felt like bugs were crwaling in my skin, i went over to the E-Room and they told me that I had GAD, this is when Xanax came in to my life.
Avatar n tn Hi, first off, its totally possible to get off these meds! However, it may not be easy. For me, the first two weeks seem to be the worst with whatever pill i am getting off of. I would suggest detoxing from one med at a time...maybe start with the least addictive or one with the least amount of withdrawl symptoms and start from there. Trying to get off everything at once may make you feel REALLY bad. I detoxed from vicodin, xanax, & finally effexor.
Avatar n tn BUT i just had major depressive episode (zombie/like paralysis, constant sobbing and deep sadness, difficulty sleeping) coupled with my normal anxiety (external factors involved such as surgery recuperation, serious family and relationship problems. but who knows how internal and external issues fuse?). wanted to stay off effexor due to low libido side effects (am in a relationship which is suffering) . had taken 150 mgs wellbutrin in the past along with effexor and was fine.
662361 tn?1225334507 Yes, I had been on various different anti-depressants (Paxil, Zoloft, Wellbutrin) at different times in my early 20's to mid-20's as a result of "situational depression" (I was in a Domestic Violence marriage at the time.) The Effexor and then later, Wellbutrin (along w/ Ambien) was Rx'd after a BAAaaaaaad reaction to Prednisone.
1309535 tn?1297200280 I had the same problem with Lexapro and Effexor. My mind worked overtime at night. I felt great as far as mood and anxiety went but I had insomnia. I tried ambien and trazedone to no avail. Trazedone left me awake feeling like I had to bricks on my eyelids. I finally started taking Klonopin .25 at night and that helped. Then my doctor put me on it AM and PM. Somehow I still had some residual anxiety that left my mind in overdrive. Neurontin can help with sleep also.
649598 tn?1239117215 Do you take any antidepressants? I also take Effexor XR and Cymbalta which regulate my anxiety very well and has nearly fully restored my ability to sleep which I had all but lost just a few months ago. I started out taking 10mg of the immediate release Ambien, which worked well at first, and then lost it's effectiveness after a couple of months. I actually started taking the Effexor to treat depression and found that after a few days of treatment, I was sleeping like a rock.
Avatar n tn Everything disappeared after I had cardiac catheter ablation in May but after three weeks the strong, heavy heartbeat has returned (not the palpitations). They are worse than ever and I have to take Ambien to get to sleep. I am trying acupuncture, hypnotherapy, yoga but am getting no relief. I get chest pain and pain in arms but doc says all tests are ok. I have tried calcium, magnesium, hawthorn extract, CoQ10 also. I have been on paxil, lexapro, effexor, they do nothing for me.
Avatar f tn m taking the Ambien CR and THANK GOD FOR IT!!!!!!!!!!! I tried regular Ambien and had 2 nights in one week that I only got 2 hours of sleep... which didn't help with the depression or Riba Rage. I still wake up often, but am able to go back to sleep now. I have no problem with feeling bad the next day. I'm on Effexor for the depression. My feelings about the sx: Right now the most important thing is to kill this dragon... whatever it takes.
Avatar f tn I've been in the hospital three times in the past month for fainting spells of unknown origin. My cariovascular system checks out fine: good bp, EKG, heart x-ray, blood enzymes. My fainting spells are always proceeded by a tingling in my toes and fingers. This tingling turns into a partial numbness and then I get these burning sensations almost like I have a sunburn that works its way up to my face. Then my vision is effected, things don't swirl but sort of rock slightly.
Avatar m tn A little bit background info on me, I am 18 years old and at one point was on IV Ativant (2mg) along with Morphine for pain every-night in the hospital (for about 4 months) to help me sleep and control pain while I was being treated for Lymphoma. I am in remission for the cancer now, but still am having a ton of trouble falling asleep AND staying asleep. If I do manage to fall asleep (which takes >2 hours) I seem to wake up at least 3-4 times a night.
607502 tn?1288247540 m on Cymbalta for depression, a combination of lamictal and litium to stabalize, trazadone and sometimes ambien to try and sleep. The high's are less high and low's less low. Alot of the time i just feel "numb". the suicidal thoughts are still there as they have been for over the last 20 years...but the feeling/need to act on them are very rare.
Avatar n tn I have been on a slew of psychiatric meds since last March including Ambien, Ambien CR, Effexor, Lexapro, Trazodone and now Zoloft and Clonazepam. Most SSRIs cause me to have insomnia which is why my psych prescribed Trazodone. However, I had a very bad experience two weeks ago where I even had to call 911 because I felt like I was having a heart attack. I know what a panic attack is and this was not anything like I had experienced before.
506273 tn?1260138781 Just got back from the pdoc. He prescribed Pristiq 50 mgs. Says I "can" go as high as 400, but of course we are starting slow. Anyone have any reactions good or bad with this? He did tell me I won't feel anything probably 3-4 weeks, so I'm pretty anxious to get this started. I am also on xanax, seroquel, and he just prescribed Lunesta because I haven't been sleeping and have had no luck with ambien.
Avatar m tn I have been taking Tamazepam for 1 year. I took Ambien off and on for 10 years ....I was sleepwalking and doing all kinds of crazy things on Ambien anytime I used it for long term use. Both make me hungry. On Ambien, I would get up and eat in my sleep. At least with Tamazepam, I remember eating a snack before bed.
Avatar n tn Ambien will help you get some sleep so yes I would say it is good. I worked for a Dr. before and the highest dose I saw given was a total of 12mg. So if the tab was 6mg then the patient could take 2. Taking 2 10mg of ambien seems a little high to me.Maybe someone else could answer better than me. I am one of those people that ambien doesn't work. I have tried Ambien cr, Lunesta (sp?) and regular Ambien and still couldn't get any sleep.
190673 tn?1259203266 I have been taking Effexor XR 450mg and Buproprion 450mg for a couple of years. I'm weaning off the Effexor, going onto Pristiq and continuing the Buproprion.
Avatar m tn I'm no doctor, so I definitely can't give you any medical information on Ambien, but I can relay my personal experience with it. I've been on Ambien (currently 10mg) for SEVERAL years now (5 or more). I have many chronic pain conditions, including fibroymalgia. One of the major symptoms of fibro is insomnia - which I definitely suffer from!
Avatar m tn would not take lexapro and effexor together. for effexor withdrawal i take omega3 fish oil caps twice a day//benadryl as needed for dizzyness\\ b12 sublingualtwice a day\\st. johns wort twice a day// vitamin d3 twice a day ---ibuprofen(motrin) as needed for muscle pain. as far as i am concerned, i will never take a prescription rx. for anxiety and depression again. i also have ptsd. i am sticking to st. johns wort and omega 3 fish oil caps. both will treat depression.
1568041 tn?1311615212 Does she think it's an issue? Personally,I think Ambien is a dangerous drug to be taking all the time. But,if she can't sleep and hasn't increased her dose for a year, then this is her lifestyle. I don't agree with it either but I know insomnia can be just horrible. There are other things she can take. If she wants to try it, suggest Melatonin and Valerian root. It's safe and it works for a lot of people. However, anyone on SSRI's should avoid Melatonin.
Avatar n tn I switched from effexor to wellbutrin. I had to be on both medications at the same time for a long time because of the effexor withdrawal... it was so hard to come off the effexor, I was at the lowest dose for a very long time, 25mg, because I couldn't get off of it the withdrawal symptoms were too bad for me.
Avatar f tn It's tough to weigh it out. I used to take klonopin but apparently *all* benzos (xanax, ativan, valium, etc) can cause birth defects. I had to stop Effexor to switch to zoloft. And stop trazadone, tramadol, ambien...I think it boils down to the doctor's experience and preference with certain meds and if they feel they would do more good than bad. Good luck!!
Avatar n tn I was taking both Lithium annd Effexor together for many years and it never effected my memory. I'm pretty sure it's safe to take Lithium and Paxil together, not sure about the Adderall. Lithium can put stress on the Kidneys over time. The Kindneys have to work harder to deal with the Lithium. That's why your supposed to get regular blood work done if taking Lithium. Just to be sure the kidneys are still functioning properly.
Avatar f tn I take Effexor for depression and forgot to bring it with me on a 3 day getaway with my 2 young boys. My girlfriend who was also there offered me a Xanax for the 8 hr. drive home just in case I lose it (my mind that is). I only took half and it seemed to work great. The drive was a breeze. Today however, I took my usual dosage of Effexor and now I'm feeling extremely detached. Like I just don't care about anything that is happening - good or bad.
