Come on guys...not everyone knows the risks of poly drug use (two or more drugs)...especially benzos and alcohol...this person has come to us for help, there is no need to speak that way.
What they are saying is correct...as all 3 drugs you are taking are depressants and "depress" (slow down) your breathing, it is very dangerous and death is possible. Do not mix alcohol with any other drug or any medication.
I have told people over and over about my experiences with ambien (sleep driving, sleep eating, and hair loss). It made me lose all grips on reality. It also destroyed me physicall and mentally. I wished I would have never heard of the c r a p. I have been clean from it for 6 months and I hope I never experience anything like it again. It was my fault because I wasn't taking it as prescribed. Whatever you do, only take one at bedtime.
Hey guys, I was takin 40-50 pills of coricidin (the OTC cough med for people with high blood pressure), and cuz i couldnt get them one day I over dosed on xanax and ambien and lyrica. I take Lyrica for my fibromyalgia on a regular basis, was hospitalized and not detoxed medically was not given anything to help with the detox symptoms. Drank last night (10-30-10) 2 drinks and am a WRECK today (Halloween) going to a party tonight and taking my children trick or treating. I'm a mess.
It is my understanding too that benzos, like Valium; Ambien (which is actually a hypnotic and in the benzo family); clonazapam; etc. have negligible if any adverse affects on the liver. I've had to take benzos for several years, and I had my first liver biopsy in June. I have 0 fibrosis, and mild inflammation. So, I wouldn't worry unduly about any danger taking Valium to yourliver if you need it for medicinal purposes. The dangerous drug to worry about, of course, is alcohol.
I'm not sure how long you've been using ambien. I used it for 9 months while on pain management with vicodin. I'm now off of both, but much to my surprise, the vicodin was much easier than the ambien for me to kick. I kicked vicodin cold turkey in February and started an ambien taper mid-march. I just finished with the ambien taper. Ambien can't be stopped suddenly; depending on for how long and how much ambien you've used.
Yes, I was prescribed ambien from my addiction doc and their is not contraindication according to her. This didn't work for me as I took ambien a long time while addicted to opiates. I amnoe presribed Rozazem 8mg. Not helping me either. My tolerance to benzos and opiated are really high! Try the ambien 12.5 time released and by God, don't chew them or they def will not work long.

I have been worried for six months and have been abusin ambien. I am off of it now and cant sleep. Can a person never sleep on their own again. I havent taken a nap or slept on my own in 6 months. I am scared to death. Antidepressents dont help me. I am worried about breast cancer since I have atypical hyperplasia. Can ambien cause breast cancer? I have an ultrasound to do this week because of abnormal mammo. Could the ambien be the cause of a new breast problem?
I've looked up a lot about ambien during pregnancy and I haven't found anything saying you shouldn't take it or that it'll harm the baby.

No I'm not addicted, I used to take it only once or twice a week. It wasn't an every day thing. But it gets sooooo hard for me to sleep some nights so I'm wondering if it's safe.
I have a friend that was abusing Ambien taking large doses and taking during the day doing things he does not remember. He stop taking Ambien all at once and is now have blackout periods where is does not remember things that he did. He had a car accident and he did not remember leaving the house it like he is doing these things in his sleep. Can Ambien cause memory loss and blackout periods after long term abuse and will this go away after awhile?
I started taking Ambien & Prozac in Oct 2009. I started building a resistance so my doctor prescribed for me Restoril, that didn't work so she started me on Lunesta. After I started building a resistance to the Lunesta my doctor prescribed for me Ambien CR 12.5mg. It's now March 2010 and I need 4 or more Ambien CR to sleep. I can't sleep without it!!! I haven't taken the CR 12.5mg in 24hr and I have the common addiction symptoms.
I quit both vicodin and ambien earlier this year from pain management, and was left with just "me and my own thinking" I've been sober in AA from alcohol for quite a few 24 hours. And even though I have never quit going to the same amount of meetings, this intense period has reminded me when I stopped drinking. Same thing!
I don't believe Ambien is chemically addictive but I'm really not sure. It can absolutely be psychologically addictive. Do a google search for it and you'll be suprised at the info you find. I took Ambien as a teenager and it made me feel like I was tripping out on acid - never liked it.
I was using nicotine but it is very addictive (I was limited to 4 packs per YEAR), short duration, and made my stomach feel worse. Alcohol has similar and additional problems.
I am currently looking for a psychopharmacologist that will address the problem at this pin pointed level and not just shove 24/7 medication at me.

My last attempt with a GP at getting a mild sedative did not get anywhere but I was able to get Ambien (a sedative ... go figure).

I am so, so, so incredibly sorry for your loss. My heart breaks for you. I lost my uncle the same way last summer. My parents found him in his trailer on their property and it was a similar situation with the blood and whatnot. Our doc said it may have indeed been a rupture and his doc's knew he had a lot of issues going on. He was only 50 years old. Alcohol is a monster that tears families apart.

He went to the neightbors house and got in their car and was trying to start it...and they came out and were like what are u doing...he accussed them of stealing his car....and he was explaining to them that if they need to borrow his car...jsut let him know...
The person I am referring to that died from OD of Fentanyl and alcohol is my dad. I have a voice mail from him that I saved from years ago and listen to it constantly. I called him almost everyday till his phone was shut off. I check his Facebook constantly and text him every once in a while, yearning for a reply. Although my dad was not young he still had a bit left to do in this world. when I see my friends with their dads, I get a pain in my chest.
