Please do not put off calling your doc today. I looked up Amaryl (glimepiride) and it is used by type 2 diabetics to lower glucose levels. There's a discussion going on in this forum about type 2, after long periods of time (how long is unk), reversing into type 1 diabetics. In your case it seems you are combating low glucose levels and may have a flipped 180º. Let us know what your docs says. You will help a lot of readers by posting your history if you did turn into a type 1.

hi, the side of amaryl is weaight gain and the metformin causes weaight loss but in combination also you will gain some weaight.

my grandmother has type 2 diabete for 10 years and she also has stomachace ,high blood pressure(high blood pressure i think it is caused by diabete) ,and heart valve damage (i think it is caused by Mediator drug ) .She use Amlor everyday to control high blood pressure.Sometime when she has stomuchache she take a drug which i dont remember the name .She used to take diamicron MR and it control her blood sugar .But now diamicron MR is useless ,she has to have insulin injection every evening .

We got rid of the air purifiers and he seems to be doing lots better, We recently changed most all incandescent light bulbs in our house to CFL light bulbs. I recently became aware that those type bulbs give off negative ions at a much higher level than regular bulbs. My wife has been sick for months with sinus, bronchitis and pneumonia. Thank You for your comments. Amaryl and Lantus is what the Dr. has taken away, to try this Victoza!!!! Not eating alot of carbs, but still having these numbers. So has been hard with numbers that high at a meal time and when I'm hungry. Devreased appetite has been good and down a few lbs., but afarid Victoza will not work for me?? Since my A1c has been 6.6 on the past meds, I guess why change a good thing. Was my thought, but was willing to give it a try.

I took metformin for 6 months and it made me sick. My stomach reacted to it and I had pains in my muscles all the time. I am now on amaryl and get no side effects from it. But a lot of people are on metformin. Since it makes your stomach loose, you lose weight from it. And it controls the sugar level. Why don't they list it?

I do know that florescent lights can cause migrane headaches because they flicker. The thing about the long florescent bulbs is that they flicker even when you don't notice it. It is like the refresh rate on a tv or computer screne. If you ever record your computer or tv screne with an older video camera, you can see the refresh rate, but you really don't notice it with the naked eye. Florescent bulbs can do the same thing.

I also realized that if I press or rub my eyes after they appear they get far worse as they grow bigger and more bulbs appear, but rubbing the eyes is not needed for it to happen just sunlight, its really scary is like having bugs of lights in center of the eyes, sometimes it happens when I watch bright colors on tv but only a few, one or two, they appear mostly when I see the bright white color on walls, etc.

Hi, the title may be a bit mis-leading and this is probably more of a science question and I hate to waste people's time but I'm a hypochondriac and I really need to know. When I look at specific lights, such as the ones built into ceilings, SOME of them, at a certain angle I can see rainbow halos around them, I don't see this on any other light and have never had pain etc.

For me, it is just frustrating because I am very careful not to be exposed to sunlight and use high spf and coverup completely and still break out, so this light thing is an eye opener. Let me know which kind of bulbs bother your mother the most.

I have been controlling my type 2 diabetes with actos, lipitor, lisinopril, amaryl, and metfirman for the last 2 years. Recently, i was laying down and when I got up I felt my neck grinding. A few days later I noticed my tonuge was numb and tingling. then I noticed my right eye and right side of my face and head was numb. I have been having reduced mucle movement on that side. I do not have insurance and am unable to see a doctor. I get my diabetic medical treatment at a clinic.

If in fact you are a type 1 diabetic, you should not be taking Amaryl. I would say to find yourself a new doctor if he/she thinks that Amaryl is appropriate for juvenile diabetes. But, perhaps there is something I don't know. Otherwise, just cautiously play with your carbohydrate intake and your insulin dosages. Yes, I agree that a doctor should be consulted about this at first, but eventually you should be running the show.

i later discovered a chewed empty bag of bone meal (fertilizer for bulbs). he has not eaten since but is drinking. i have not noticed any bowel movements since then. He isnt himself, just resting and appears not well. What should i do, or give him?

I always looked to it as a neuro issue too, not an allergy....I have Chiari malformation with is a brain issue, with migraine like HA's and it is something many with CM also suffer with...and to think the Gov wants us to use florescent lights in our homes...not sure how that will work as there r so many with this issue.

From engineer's perpective, incandescent is the least energy efficient light. Fluorescent lighting is the most efficient and cost effctive. Get compact fluorescent lamps (CFL) where possible. CFL uses 75% less energy and can last more than ten times longer than incandescent lamps. Full spectrum lamps are fluorescent lamps but they much more costly than regular lamps, and they require more electricity for a given light output.
