I have had Type 2 diabetes since October 07. I was put on Amaryl then and now am also on Metformin. I have since gained almost 5-8 pounds. Is this normal? I can't find this listed as a side effect in the drug info. I am about 20 pounds overweight and have been trying to lose that to help with the diabetes. I have a healthy diet and try to exercise as much as I can. I also have Crohn's disease (which may have contributed to the onset of diabetes), so heavy exercise is out for me.
This is a question for your pharmacist as I could not locate "IP". Normally USP is Rx'd. Amaryl [glimepiride] tablets come in various forms and colors. The letters IG [eye gee] is imprinted on three tablets [blue, pink, green] to designate strength.
The reason she has to have insulin injection is that all other drugs upset her stomuch ( except diamicron MR ) .Doctor has prescribed her with Amaryl ,Glucophage ,Glucobay ,but they upset her stomuch .Although she take it after meal but she still have stomuch pain .So I want to ask what diabet drugs that don’t upset stomuch (because she hate to take insulin injection ).
I am maintaining a stage 3 and was on a 3 month regiment of vitamin d and we also eliminated metformin. I take Amaryl now, instead.. My blood glucose was out of control but my PCP put me on Victoza. That seems to be helping with the exception of BS levels being very low in the morning. My PCP has suggested she might take me off the Amaryl and just have me take more insulin along with the Victoza and Januvia. At this point we're experimenting with the meds to see what works better.
We have decrmy Lantus to 10eased units in the even. and 1/2 Amaryl in the a.m. and p.m. I also take Januvia 100mg, and 2000 mg Metformin a day. My A1c has been 6.6 for a few years now, but have moved and have a new Dr. who wanted me to try the Victoza. My BS are running 154 (No lower) to as high as 272. OCCASIONALLY I might have a reading as high as 272 (My B'day celebration had to many sweets) :(. but not this high On a regular basis.
Prior to surgery, she was taking Amaryl 1mg tablets once a day. Is this increased BSR levels following a surgery common enough, are there any implications and what should be the desired course of action?
I am 42 years old Diabetic for 5 years on Metformin 500mg XL and Amaryl 2 mg. My blood sugars are not controlled. Fasting in 140 s and postprandial 300s. I am following diabetic diet and doing regular exercise/ What is the next step I should do.
Please advise. My recent A1C is 8.5.

I have been controlling my type 2 diabetes with actos, lipitor, lisinopril, amaryl, and metfirman for the last 2 years. Recently, i was laying down and when I got up I felt my neck grinding. A few days later I noticed my tonuge was numb and tingling. then I noticed my right eye and right side of my face and head was numb. I have been having reduced mucle movement on that side. I do not have insurance and am unable to see a doctor. I get my diabetic medical treatment at a clinic.
But it got my attention as I gasped. Ever since then, my erections haven’t been as strong and I can’t “flex” my **** like I used to. I flex and I feel it in my balls and at the base, but the closer I get to the tip, I can tell the flex isn’t in full effect. Maybe like something’s blocked? Or hopefully just weak at the moment. It’s only been about 1 week and it’s definitely harder to flex now more than ever after I had sex with my gf all weekend.
If in fact you are a type 1 diabetic, you should not be taking Amaryl. I would say to find yourself a new doctor if he/she thinks that Amaryl is appropriate for juvenile diabetes. But, perhaps there is something I don't know.
Otherwise, just cautiously play with your carbohydrate intake and your insulin dosages. Yes, I agree that a doctor should be consulted about this at first, but eventually you should be running the show.

I've had it too. It usually happens when im really active and flex the muscles in that area. I'm a pole dancer so I flex to sit on the pole. Do you do any activity that makes you flex the muscles in that area?
After a lot of complaining my doctor in march repeated the sleep test and changed me to a c-flex with 8 lbs pressure. A c-flex lowers pressure during the out-breath. Not bad but still having problems with shallow breathing and bad sleeps. By july this year after more complaining and changing doctors a pulmonary doc changed me to auto-cpap (remstar auto M series with A-flex.) It was not delivered until the end of aug but that is too long a story for now. This is what cpap therapy should be.
They want me to take an Enema tonight, and tomorrow 2 hours before my appointment for a Flex-Sig. The Flex-Sig being way less intrusive than a colonoscopy, as I read. I wish it were a colonoscopy, but I guess given my symptoms and maybe age they are only doing a Flex-Sig.
Man, I also had some bad joint pains. And now it seems almost like my back hurts way more than my abdomen itself. I can pass gas, and it stinks.

I am 19(turn 20 in a week) and for 3 years I have had muscle spasms. They occur whenever I flex my right arm. (I also have random fasciculations that happen periodically. They started in a very focal point near my elbow, but over the years have progressed down my forearm, my upper arm, back and chest. I recently went to the doctor who described my spasms as similar to clonus and ordered a mri and a emg which I am still scheduling.

Usually if you can't get that 'flexing your penis' sensation (penis isn't actually a muscle so it doesn't actually flex itself, it's the muscles surrounding your penis that give you the flex sensation) it is because of your pelvic floor muscles.
