Avatar n tn t told you enough details or if you want to check yourself before you call. Personally I have several doctors/pharmacists applications on my iPhones (Epocrates, Skyscape, PEPID) I usually check interactions with Epocrates. Here is the website you can use if you don't have a iPhone - https://online.epocrates.com/home - You can check for interactions on this website and it's a trusted resource used by many physicians. Another good and free website is http://www.healthline.
Avatar f tn I have had Type 2 diabetes since October 07. I was put on Amaryl then and now am also on Metformin. I have since gained almost 5-8 pounds. Is this normal? I can't find this listed as a side effect in the drug info. I am about 20 pounds overweight and have been trying to lose that to help with the diabetes. I have a healthy diet and try to exercise as much as I can. I also have Crohn's disease (which may have contributed to the onset of diabetes), so heavy exercise is out for me.
1925135 tn?1323307656 Amaryl should be the solution.Seems you've developed immunity to Starlix.
Avatar m tn This is a question for your pharmacist as I could not locate "IP". Normally USP is Rx'd. Amaryl [glimepiride] tablets come in various forms and colors. The letters IG [eye gee] is imprinted on three tablets [blue, pink, green] to designate strength.
Avatar f tn The reason she has to have insulin injection is that all other drugs upset her stomuch ( except diamicron MR ) .Doctor has prescribed her with Amaryl ,Glucophage ,Glucobay ,but they upset her stomuch .Although she take it after meal but she still have stomuch pain .So I want to ask what diabet drugs that don’t upset stomuch (because she hate to take insulin injection ).
Avatar m tn I am maintaining a stage 3 and was on a 3 month regiment of vitamin d and we also eliminated metformin. I take Amaryl now, instead.. My blood glucose was out of control but my PCP put me on Victoza. That seems to be helping with the exception of BS levels being very low in the morning. My PCP has suggested she might take me off the Amaryl and just have me take more insulin along with the Victoza and Januvia. At this point we're experimenting with the meds to see what works better.
Avatar f tn We have decrmy Lantus to 10eased units in the even. and 1/2 Amaryl in the a.m. and p.m. I also take Januvia 100mg, and 2000 mg Metformin a day. My A1c has been 6.6 for a few years now, but have moved and have a new Dr. who wanted me to try the Victoza. My BS are running 154 (No lower) to as high as 272. OCCASIONALLY I might have a reading as high as 272 (My B'day celebration had to many sweets) :(. but not this high On a regular basis.
783159 tn?1236291818 I took metformin for 6 months and it made me sick. My stomach reacted to it and I had pains in my muscles all the time. I am now on amaryl and get no side effects from it. But a lot of people are on metformin. Since it makes your stomach loose, you lose weight from it. And it controls the sugar level. Why don't they list it?
1662629 tn?1302795694 Sotalol is an antiarrhythmic, which means that it's used to treat problems with the heart's electrical activity. I looked it up on Epocrates (I'm in the medical field), and sexual dysfunction or erectile dysfunction is not even listed as a potential side effect. It CAN cause some hypotension (low blood pressure), but if this consistently caused problems with ED, it would definitely been listed. You didn't mention how old you are.
Avatar m tn Prior to surgery, she was taking Amaryl 1mg tablets once a day. Is this increased BSR levels following a surgery common enough, are there any implications and what should be the desired course of action?
Avatar n tn I am 42 years old Diabetic for 5 years on Metformin 500mg XL and Amaryl 2 mg. My blood sugars are not controlled. Fasting in 140 s and postprandial 300s. I am following diabetic diet and doing regular exercise/ What is the next step I should do. Please advise. My recent A1C is 8.5. Thank you.
Avatar n tn I have been controlling my type 2 diabetes with actos, lipitor, lisinopril, amaryl, and metfirman for the last 2 years. Recently, i was laying down and when I got up I felt my neck grinding. A few days later I noticed my tonuge was numb and tingling. then I noticed my right eye and right side of my face and head was numb. I have been having reduced mucle movement on that side. I do not have insurance and am unable to see a doctor. I get my diabetic medical treatment at a clinic.
Avatar n tn If in fact you are a type 1 diabetic, you should not be taking Amaryl. I would say to find yourself a new doctor if he/she thinks that Amaryl is appropriate for juvenile diabetes. But, perhaps there is something I don't know. Otherwise, just cautiously play with your carbohydrate intake and your insulin dosages. Yes, I agree that a doctor should be consulted about this at first, but eventually you should be running the show.
Avatar n tn 5-0-0 , UBI Q Plus 1-0-0 and Amaryl 1 mg 1-0-0. I am 44 years old.Feeling heaviness in chest at majority of time.any one can advise to proceed further.
Avatar f tn I useVagisil cream and Desitin ontment for the after bowel movement burning pain that comes and goes sometimes lasting for hours I also take medication for Type 2 Diabetes,Glucophage 2000 milligrams a day and 2 milligram amaryl tabs a day. 514586 tn?1211451717 Steroids can cause elevations in blood sugar. I checked Epocrates, an online pharmaceutical program, as well as other materials, and they did not list it as causing diabetes. How was you blood sugar prior to getting the shot? May not cause, but can definitely raise blood sugars. Those sound like good numbers for blood sugar that you have checked for the last several weeks. Do any of the other medications you take cause elevations in blood sugars? Sorry, that is all the info I have.

Avatar m tn I am a diabetic 2 since last 30 years.I take 8mg of Amaryl in the morning and 2 to 4mg in the evening (prescribed by an Internist 14 years ago). I also take Metformine 1000mg once in the morning and once in the evening. My last HbA1c (in February,2009) was 126 ( 7.00 mol/lit.) I was asked to see a diabetic nurse (as a normal routine) and she has aproblem with the dose of drugs that I take and advises me to shift to insulin. The doctors did not have any problem with my medication though.
Avatar f tn I am on Januvia 50 mg and Amaryl 1mg. My doctor told me to eat 3 meals a day plus a snack at bed time. I have lived by the Atkins diet and don't eat carbs and don't care for sweets. I cry all the time and feel life is no longer worth living.
Avatar m tn There are real risks with blood pressure control and blood staying in places longer than it is supposed to and that is before talking about delivering oxygen to the heart. Go through all your meds (interaction checkers at Epocrates and Drugs.com are reliable --Epocrates is probably what your pharmacy uses-- do both anyway) and check for interactions and side effects.
Avatar n tn I have an app on my phone called Epocrates. I use the interaction checker for my mom and I's meds, because you just never know. I ran a check on the ones you listed and came up with the interaction between Cymbalta and trazodone - it says there is an increased risk of serotonin syndorme.
Avatar f tn After being off the actos (I still take amaryl and lisinopril) for 3 months I still feel occasional bloating and pain on left side but now I feel like something stuck in my throat. I don't have any trouble swallowing saliva or food/drinks. I have been to a gastro doctor who scoped me and only found in my colon a few internal hemorroids and nothing in my throat or stomach but mild inflammation in upper duodenum. He prescribed nexium.
