Avatar m tn This is a question for your pharmacist as I could not locate "IP". Normally USP is Rx'd. Amaryl [glimepiride] tablets come in various forms and colors. The letters IG [eye gee] is imprinted on three tablets [blue, pink, green] to designate strength.

Avatar m tn I am a diabetic 2 since last 30 years.I take 8mg of Amaryl in the morning and 2 to 4mg in the evening (prescribed by an Internist 14 years ago). I also take Metformine 1000mg once in the morning and once in the evening. My last HbA1c (in February,2009) was 126 ( 7.00 mol/lit.) I was asked to see a diabetic nurse (as a normal routine) and she has aproblem with the dose of drugs that I take and advises me to shift to insulin. The doctors did not have any problem with my medication though.
Avatar n tn I am 42 years old Diabetic for 5 years on Metformin 500mg XL and Amaryl 2 mg. My blood sugars are not controlled. Fasting in 140 s and postprandial 300s. I am following diabetic diet and doing regular exercise/ What is the next step I should do. Please advise. My recent A1C is 8.5. Thank you.
Avatar n tn In your particular case, I am first concerned that you say you take Amaryl. If in fact you are a type 1 diabetic, you should not be taking Amaryl. I would say to find yourself a new doctor if he/she thinks that Amaryl is appropriate for juvenile diabetes. But, perhaps there is something I don't know. Otherwise, just cautiously play with your carbohydrate intake and your insulin dosages.
Avatar m tn My mother, aged 79 years, a hyperintensive and a diabetic for several years, recently underwent a CABG surgery for a Triple Vessel Disease on July 13, 2010 and was discharged from hospital on July 21, 2010. She is recovering, yet her blood sugar levels continue to be high and is being administered Novomix 30 ( 20 units before before breakfast and 10 units before lunch). Prior to surgery, she was taking Amaryl 1mg tablets once a day.
Avatar n tn I have been controlling my type 2 diabetes with actos, lipitor, lisinopril, amaryl, and metfirman for the last 2 years. Recently, i was laying down and when I got up I felt my neck grinding. A few days later I noticed my tonuge was numb and tingling. then I noticed my right eye and right side of my face and head was numb. I have been having reduced mucle movement on that side. I do not have insurance and am unable to see a doctor. I get my diabetic medical treatment at a clinic.
Avatar f tn I have had Type 2 diabetes since October 07. I was put on Amaryl then and now am also on Metformin. I have since gained almost 5-8 pounds. Is this normal? I can't find this listed as a side effect in the drug info. I am about 20 pounds overweight and have been trying to lose that to help with the diabetes. I have a healthy diet and try to exercise as much as I can. I also have Crohn's disease (which may have contributed to the onset of diabetes), so heavy exercise is out for me.
Avatar f tn We have decrmy Lantus to 10eased units in the even. and 1/2 Amaryl in the a.m. and p.m. I also take Januvia 100mg, and 2000 mg Metformin a day. My A1c has been 6.6 for a few years now, but have moved and have a new Dr. who wanted me to try the Victoza. My BS are running 154 (No lower) to as high as 272. OCCASIONALLY I might have a reading as high as 272 (My B'day celebration had to many sweets) :(. but not this high On a regular basis.
Avatar m tn hi, last december i had blurred vision for about two weeks then i was feeling weak and energyless and tired, then i took a test at home and my glucose level was 400 mg/dl fasting ,then i went to the doctor and he test me and he found the same result. he gave me medication and i start die and exercising and loosing weight. since then i keep controling my glucose below 120 ml.
Avatar n tn Your question concerned me because the symptoms that you say you are experiencing and that you were told to watch out for in diabetic family members because they are symptoms of neuropathy are NOT symptoms of diabetic onset. When a person first develops diabetes, the symptoms usually are excessive thirst, inordinate hunger, wieght loss in spite of eating more than usual, frequent urination because of the large amounts of water being consumed, and fatigue.
Avatar m tn I am maintaining a stage 3 and was on a 3 month regiment of vitamin d and we also eliminated metformin. I take Amaryl now, instead.. My blood glucose was out of control but my PCP put me on Victoza. That seems to be helping with the exception of BS levels being very low in the morning. My PCP has suggested she might take me off the Amaryl and just have me take more insulin along with the Victoza and Januvia. At this point we're experimenting with the meds to see what works better.
Avatar m tn The AAC/AHA have guidelines to treat coronary occlusions and as the COURAGE study indicates and other information agree that occlusions less than 70% should not be treated unless there are symptoms (ie, chest pain, etc) and if there are symptoms treat with medication. If medication does not effectively treat symptoms, then a stent implant, and if a stent is not appropriate because of size, location, etc. then a bypass.
783159 tn?1236291818 I took metformin for 6 months and it made me sick. My stomach reacted to it and I had pains in my muscles all the time. I am now on amaryl and get no side effects from it. But a lot of people are on metformin. Since it makes your stomach loose, you lose weight from it. And it controls the sugar level. Why don't they list it?
Avatar n tn Hello, Phentermine can alter your blood sugar levels, if you are going to try using it please use it with caution and monitor your blood sugar levels more frequently... if you notice changes and if your blood sugars are becoming too low then stop taking phentermine, and seek further advice about what you could use instead of phentermine. Remember that diabetes should be your priority.

Avatar n tn s LDL cholesterol well controlled, and was he exercising regularly? Is he diabetic? Heart disease is caused by several factors. I have had one stent after another (8) while taking Plavix. Now that my cholesterol levels are excellent there seems to be improvement. Keep in mind, Plavix and aspirin thin the blood, but doesn't control cholesterol levels. I'm about to be taken off Plavix, and yes, I'm a bit nervous about it.
Avatar f tn I cannot stress how important that is, along with medication. Also, be sure that the doctor prescribing your medication is a child/adolescent psychiatrist. There are a lot of special considerations with non-adults and psych medications. Best to you, keep us posted on how you're doing okay?
4117735 tn?1349962369 Is it OK to double, or tipple, your medication? I take Glipizide 10 mg. The reason asked is that I have been monitoring my glucose and it has been between 200 - 300, and I would like to lower my readings.
1720613 tn?1309432604 does diabetic sugar level up to 30 can be reduced my exercise only without taking medicine??
Avatar n tn s always a good idea to read the information the pharmacy includes with the medication so you are aware of what side effects are possible and what side effects may be something you need to contact your prescriber about. But yes, Headaches can be a side effect of beginning the medication. Usually ear ringing is associated with stopping the medication but has been reported while beginning it also in some.
