I have had Type 2 diabetes since October 07. I was put on Amaryl then and now am also on Metformin. I have since gained almost 5-8 pounds. Is this normal? I can't find this listed as a side effect in the drug info. I am about 20 pounds overweight and have been trying to lose that to help with the diabetes. I have a healthy diet and try to exercise as much as I can. I also have Crohn's disease (which may have contributed to the onset of diabetes), so heavy exercise is out for me.

This is a question for your pharmacist as I could not locate "IP". Normally USP is Rx'd. Amaryl [glimepiride] tablets come in various forms and colors. The letters IG [eye gee] is imprinted on three tablets [blue, pink, green] to designate strength.

The reason she has to have insulin injection is that all other drugs upset her stomuch ( except diamicron MR ) .Doctor has prescribed her with Amaryl ,Glucophage ,Glucobay ,but they upset her stomuch .Although she take it after meal but she still have stomuch pain .So I want to ask what diabet drugs that don’t upset stomuch (because she hate to take insulin injection ).

I am maintaining a stage 3 and was on a 3 month regiment of vitamin d and we also eliminated metformin. I take Amaryl now, instead.. My blood glucose was out of control but my PCP put me on Victoza. That seems to be helping with the exception of BS levels being very low in the morning. My PCP has suggested she might take me off the Amaryl and just have me take more insulin along with the Victoza and Januvia. At this point we're experimenting with the meds to see what works better.

The pinning was done in our own city (Barbados) on April 21, 2010 but after the surgery we noticed that he still cannot bear weight on the right leg and is still on crutches. The hip gives way when he tries to put weight on it and the knee buckles. He is now going to be tested for Crohn's disesase but I do not feel this is what is wrong. We have decrmy Lantus to 10eased units in the even. and 1/2 Amaryl in the a.m. and p.m. I also take Januvia 100mg, and 2000 mg Metformin a day. My A1c has been 6.6 for a few years now, but have moved and have a new Dr. who wanted me to try the Victoza. My BS are running 154 (No lower) to as high as 272. OCCASIONALLY I might have a reading as high as 272 (My B'day celebration had to many sweets) :(. but not this high On a regular basis.

I took metformin for 6 months and it made me sick. My stomach reacted to it and I had pains in my muscles all the time. I am now on amaryl and get no side effects from it. But a lot of people are on metformin. Since it makes your stomach loose, you lose weight from it. And it controls the sugar level. Why don't they list it?

Prior to surgery, she was taking Amaryl 1mg tablets once a day. Is this increased BSR levels following a surgery common enough, are there any implications and what should be the desired course of action?

I am 42 years old Diabetic for 5 years on Metformin 500mg XL and Amaryl 2 mg. My blood sugars are not controlled. Fasting in 140 s and postprandial 300s. I am following diabetic diet and doing regular exercise/ What is the next step I should do. Please advise. My recent A1C is 8.5. Thank you.

I think those rates at pretty good. Based on my previous attempts i would have suggested taking minimum of 2 package if you can afford it. I have done 3cycles 2failed i am only 31y with endometriosis. I am nervously waiting for results of 3rd. Ivf is expensive. I did mine in barbados #1 & 2 was 9k usd per cycle, #3 12k (they changed my meds) doesn't include travel expenses & 2week intervals from work.

I have been controlling my type 2 diabetes with actos, lipitor, lisinopril, amaryl, and metfirman for the last 2 years. Recently, i was laying down and when I got up I felt my neck grinding. A few days later I noticed my tonuge was numb and tingling. then I noticed my right eye and right side of my face and head was numb. I have been having reduced mucle movement on that side. I do not have insurance and am unable to see a doctor. I get my diabetic medical treatment at a clinic.

If in fact you are a type 1 diabetic, you should not be taking Amaryl. I would say to find yourself a new doctor if he/she thinks that Amaryl is appropriate for juvenile diabetes. But, perhaps there is something I don't know. Otherwise, just cautiously play with your carbohydrate intake and your insulin dosages. Yes, I agree that a doctor should be consulted about this at first, but eventually you should be running the show.

I just moved from the Mid-WEst to Barbados. Since I've been here I noticed that my son and daughter have red veins all over the whites of their eyes. My sons has the red veins and also has a yellowish like film in the inner corner of his right eye. What is this? Both of there eyes have always been super white, white. Now there are red veins everywhere. We've been here for 4 months. It's not ridiculously ot or anything - about 85-90 degrees.

I useVagisil cream and Desitin ontment for the after bowel movement burning pain that comes and goes sometimes lasting for hours I also take medication for Type 2 Diabetes,Glucophage 2000 milligrams a day and 2 milligram amaryl tabs a day. For some reason the cheap aveeno baby is pnly thing that works my son hes almost 3 and still has extremely sensitive skin he doesnt actually have eczema. Juat veeu sensitive I cannot use anything woth aloe Barbados or fragrance in it. Even expensive organic fragrance free crap doesn't work lol. But the babu aveeno is actually made with colloidal oatmeal which is great for eczema amd sensitive skin :-) and plan old oatmeal baths are good as well.
