I also have congestive heart failure and diabetes. Just wanting to know what I can do to improve the kidney function or at least slow the progression of the disease. I have an appt. with a kidney dr. but not for a month yet. Would appreciate all input and your experiences with this. GFR 38 and creatinine 1.4.

I have had Type 2 diabetes since October 07. I was put on Amaryl then and now am also on Metformin. I have since gained almost 5-8 pounds. Is this normal? I can't find this listed as a side effect in the drug info. I am about 20 pounds overweight and have been trying to lose that to help with the diabetes. I have a healthy diet and try to exercise as much as I can. I also have Crohn's disease (which may have contributed to the onset of diabetes), so heavy exercise is out for me.

my grandmother has type 2 diabete for 10 years and she also has stomachace ,high blood pressure(high blood pressure i think it is caused by diabete) ,and heart valve damage (i think it is caused by Mediator drug ) .She use Amlor everyday to control high blood pressure.Sometime when she has stomuchache she take a drug which i dont remember the name .She used to take diamicron MR and it control her blood sugar .But now diamicron MR is useless ,she has to have insulin injection every evening .

In the beginning, everything is particularly confusing as your body is adjusting mentally and physically to the newness of being diabetic. But, please take heart! With proper care and a competent doctor or medical team you trust, you will be able to adjust and live a happy and healthy life with your family.

My mother, aged 79 years, a hyperintensive and a diabetic for several years, recently underwent a CABG surgery for a Triple Vessel Disease on July 13, 2010 and was discharged from hospital on July 21, 2010. She is recovering, yet her blood sugar levels continue to be high and is being administered Novomix 30 ( 20 units before before breakfast and 10 units before lunch). Prior to surgery, she was taking Amaryl 1mg tablets once a day.

Amaryl and Metformin are about the limit of my expereince. I was on insulin for a while but goal was to get off all meds with behavior changes. As for the weight, I have the opposite problem. My walking burns the weight but my avoidance of a lot of foods keeps me from keeping up. I'm in the low end of BMI and I'm still trying to master the eating side of things which I haven't completely figured out yet.

We have decrmy Lantus to 10eased units in the even. and 1/2 Amaryl in the a.m. and p.m. I also take Januvia 100mg, and 2000 mg Metformin a day. My A1c has been 6.6 for a few years now, but have moved and have a new Dr. who wanted me to try the Victoza. My BS are running 154 (No lower) to as high as 272. OCCASIONALLY I might have a reading as high as 272 (My B'day celebration had to many sweets) :(. but not this high On a regular basis.

I took metformin for 6 months and it made me sick. My stomach reacted to it and I had pains in my muscles all the time. I am now on amaryl and get no side effects from it. But a lot of people are on metformin. Since it makes your stomach loose, you lose weight from it. And it controls the sugar level. Why don't they list it?

I useVagisil cream and Desitin ontment for the after bowel movement burning pain that comes and goes sometimes lasting for hours I also take medication for Type 2 Diabetes,Glucophage 2000 milligrams a day and 2 milligram amaryl tabs a day. I am 42 years old Diabetic for 5 years on Metformin 500mg XL and Amaryl 2 mg. My blood sugars are not controlled. Fasting in 140 s and postprandial 300s. I am following diabetic diet and doing regular exercise/ What is the next step I should do. Please advise. My recent A1C is 8.5. Thank you.

I was given an info leaflet by the chemist on them but failed to read it until i started having the weird heart problems and then realised about the sulfur... stupid me again, I alway read those leaflets but this time i didn't. I am not sure if it was an allergic reaction or the lowering of the blood pressure or what, but it was horrible, my heart was pounding like it was going to break out through my chest wall, it actually scared me!

I'm a newbie here on the heart disease site and not very sure what is going on. This all started with my getting sick and going to the ER thinking that I am having a heart attack. It turned out that my potassium was very low and my glucose level was low. Prior to this ER episode, my potassium level was hovering around 3.3 for about 4 months. At the ER it was 2.6! I had been on HCT 25 mgand Diovan Hct 320/25 mg for about 2-3 years. My primary doctor took me off the HCT.

on a Transthoracis Echocardiogram Test I have 3 valves Mitral, Pulmonary and Tricuspid regurgatating trivial and mild in the Tricuspid Valve. Does this mean I have Pulmonary Hypertention? I also had right atrium and right ventricular dilatation on a 2007 and 2008 report. This new report says decreased in size of the right atrium and right ventricular. Does any one knows what that means? How and why would it decreased in size and why would it be dilated in the first place.
