Why is my systolic blood pressure still high when I am taking Altace. My diastolic blood pressure is normal when I take Altace. Why the difference. Could I have angina since I have had pain in my chest around the heart area and in the middle of the chest. Also, could I have arterialschlorsis from the high systolic blood pressure? Three weeks ago I had my second ablation surgury (last was 5 yrs ago); they had to ablate about 900 points/spots which seems to represent about 40% or more of my heart. A week after the surgury I was readmitted as I was in Afib for about 8 hours straight (I've gone for days before the surgury) with my heart rate running in the 150's - 200.

Never had a heart attack. The Cardio put me on Metoprolol ( 50mg); Altace 2.5 mg and baby aspirin in addition to Lipitor 20mg. Sep. 2009 he took me off the Metoprolol and increased the Altace to 10 mg. My Blood potassium level at the time was perfectly normal at 3.6; after the spike in the ace-inhibitor my potassium level has risen in two months to 5.6, which I believe is an unsafe level. My family doctor has now asked me to go back to the 2.5 mg dosage and get re-tested after two weeks.

I take Toprol XL 200 mgs. and Altace 20mgs. and have for many years however recently I have experienced an increase in blood pressure. I have lost some weight and continue to diet as well as exercise. My doctor has tried two calcium channel blockers with the results that I become very ill and unable to continue these medications. A relatively low dose of Methimazole was prescribed, along with Lisinopril, and Metoprolol. I have been taking the same dosages for all those years, except my dosage for Methimazole was brought down to 1 and 1/2 pills (5 mg pills) about a year ago. Throughout this time, I have experienced palpitations, leg spasms (only when sleeping), eczema, depression, and heat intolerance. I have gone through many doctors and health professionals. I am now 71.

20 mg in 7 am , and 20 mg Lisinopril in 7 pm (so total = 40 mg Lisinopril per day). During the day (systolic) hypertension goes 150-160 mmHg and only in 2-4pm it is 130 mmHg (and at 10-12 pm). What should be done for this patient. Maybe trying a diuretic (hydrochlorthiazid) and lowering the dose of Lisinopril? On the 30 day follow up from hospitalization and another echocardiobram I was told my heart function was up to 30%. My lisinopril went from 10 to 20 mg. On my 30 day follow-up office visit from the following cardiocatherization I was told my heart was functioning at 25% even though I was feeling better than before I had the cardiac event in December. s picked about 7 hours after taking Lisinopril and was really bad at about 12 hours after taking Lisinopril. I experienced about 3100 PVC's during this 24 hr holter report of which approximately 1600 of them came in this 5 hour period between the 7 hour and 12 hour mark post Lisinopril. I take Coreg(Carvedilol) and Lisinopril. I still want children very badly and was told that basically, there were meds that I can take instead of Lisinopril, but I would have to stop taking Coreg. I have had worsening rhythm problems over the last several years, dating all the way back to viral myocarditis in 1993 when I had a resting pulse of 180 for nearly 6 months. I had three ablations in the last couple years that were unable to fix it. They just kept adding more and more meds until I fell over pulseless. I have been taking Lisinopril for 2 years and since then my resting heart rate is between 90-100. Here recently though after I take Lisinopril it has jumped to 130 when walking 100 when resting. I take Lisinopril in the morning and my pulse jumps but at night it gos back to being okay (Lisinopril's half life is 12 hours). I haven't taken today because I was out but my resting pulse is 90 and when I went to WalMart it went no higher than 110 unlike 140 yesterday.
