Altace heart medicine

Common Questions and Answers about Altace heart medicine

altace

Avatar f tn Why is my systolic blood pressure still high when I am taking Altace. My diastolic blood pressure is normal when I take Altace. Why the difference. Could I have angina since I have had pain in my chest around the heart area and in the middle of the chest. Also, could I have arterialschlorsis from the high systolic blood pressure? This discussion is related to high systolic normal diastolic blood pressure?.
Avatar f tn It makes me feel weak, anxxious, dizzy. I tried cutting back to 12.5mg and my heart pounding started again....no tachy but heart pounding. Tonight I went back up to 25mg cause i couldn't stand my heart coming out of my chest....and it was only in the 80s. I feel so incredibly horrible from head to toe. They checked my thyroid and other blood work. I did have low calcium...8.2. They day before the uppoer endoscopy my heart rate was not going crazy.
Avatar n tn I have only been put on the beta blocker to lower my blood pressure. No angina, heart arrythmias, or any other heart issues. I also know that you have to gradually cut down getting off of them and not all of a sudden! I have never been happy about being on them eversince I was put on them when my BP was high! I would like to talk to a medical doctor/alternative medicine doctor to help me, but I don't know of one in my area that anyone is familiar with!
Avatar m tn I had angioplasty in Mar 2004 after experiencing chest discomfort. Never had a heart attack. The Cardio put me on Metoprolol ( 50mg); Altace 2.5 mg and baby aspirin in addition to Lipitor 20mg. Sep. 2009 he took me off the Metoprolol and increased the Altace to 10 mg. My Blood potassium level at the time was perfectly normal at 3.6; after the spike in the ace-inhibitor my potassium level has risen in two months to 5.6, which I believe is an unsafe level.
Avatar m tn Hi: I used to be on flecinade for 3-4 years and it worked great - basically it was akin to nitro - when I went into Afib it would quickly help restore sinus rythm. I'm now on sotolol and altace (blood pressure) which seems to help keep my heart rate down but it feels like a war as my heart wants to race. I'm not sure of any side effects as I have several issues but it does work to keep my heart rate below 100's and most often in the 60's - 70's.
Avatar m tn After a week of relative quiet, I start to have bouts where I could feel my heart pumping but with a pulse rate of 48-52 bpm. No other major symtoms. After a sleepless night, the nurse told me (by phone) that this was Atrial Tachycardia, that the slow pulse was not a total indication of what was going on with my heart.and to increase my dose of beta blocker from 12 to 25 mg. This made me extremely lightheaded so I went back to my prior dose.
Avatar m tn As far as I understand Coralan (ivrabadine) it is not an anti angina medicament but just a medicine to low the heart rate which it is suppose to increase our life length. What I do not understand is that, if you have such anginas, why the bypass it is not an option for you.
Avatar m tn I have had 3 heart attacks and 3 stents in RCA. I continued to have angina. I had alot of episodes that would wake me out of a dead sleep. I was put on Norvasc (calcium channel blocker) in additon to Lopressor and Altace. Haven't had any spasms lately. Hope you feel better.
Avatar n tn Several years ago, after a routine stress test, I was told my ejection fraction was 32 (I had no blockages). The doctor seemed surprised that I never got tired, dizzy, light-headed, short-of-breath, or faint. He prescribed daily Coreg & Altace, & over the years & it has risen to 45-50 (but I don't feel any different). Is it possible that it's just 'normal' for me to have a low ejection fraction?
907729 tn?1244174363 I want to have the gastric bypass to help loose weight because the doctor told me evetually I will need further heart sugery and possibly will need a heart transplant. My EF is 25% and tends to stay around that right now. I am on many medications also like Ticlid, Coreg, Avandamet, Lantus Insulin, Altace, Pletal, Carvedilol, Lipitor, Niapsan ER.
Avatar m tn Had multiple stents (4) placed four (4) years ago, two in LAD with no side effects and good nuclear and stress test results over this period. Am currently taking Plavix/Aspirin/Coreg/Altace. Need arthroscopic repair on knee but concerned over cessating of Plavix. One cardiologist recommended ending Plavix entirely, second (same practice) would rather wait for a large study about to be completed. Suggestions?
Avatar f tn Have you checked in with your eye MD?
Avatar n tn How much Tylenol were you taking? Were you abusing it?
Avatar f tn I have an ejection fraction rate of 30-35%. It has remained this for years. I am on coreg and altace. Should I have a ICD placed to be a backup in case something happens. I am becoming increasingly concerened since I had my 10 month old how long I will be around for him. Any opinions before I see my physician. I would like other feedback besides his.
Avatar m tn He says it acts as good antioxident and is good for recovery of heart after MI. I had MI eight months back and have LV enlargement and hypokinesis of LV walls with EF of 30%. Does someone has experience or information on red wine being good for heart if taken in small quanytities. I am concerned that it might interfere with medications for heart(coreg, ACE-I, aspirin, aldectone etc.. I am not diabetic. Thanks in advance for responding.
Avatar m tn 5 mg x2 coreg and 5mgx2 ACE-I daily I was doing well with my walking and heart condition was more or less stable. Four months after MI I changed my cardiologist and he advised to increase coreg gradually to 25mgx2 daily. I have reached a level of 18.75mgx2 daily in next one month. Thereafter I lost my capacity to walk by half. While walking as soon as my pulse goes beyond 105 bpm I start feeling lightness in head, tired and low.
Avatar f tn I take Toprol XL 200 mgs. and Altace 20mgs. and have for many years however recently I have experienced an increase in blood pressure. I have lost some weight and continue to diet as well as exercise. My doctor has tried two calcium channel blockers with the results that I become very ill and unable to continue these medications. Any suggestions?
Avatar n tn A lot of doctors I know are on the medication to protect their heart and their cholesterol is not even that high. Heart disease is very scary and you need to protect your heart. Medication helps.
754107 tn?1233668478 they had to ablate about 900 points/spots which seems to represent about 40% or more of my heart. A week after the surgury I was readmitted as I was in Afib for about 8 hours straight (I've gone for days before the surgury) with my heart rate running in the 150's - 200. The weird thing I noticed during this monitoring (I also have a pacemaker) period was that my blood pressure which rapidly increase or decrease (up to 150's/130's down to 80's/50's).
295603 tn?1268780834 I have not had the bypass surgery, but multiple stents, multiple stress tests, and never have they showed no problems. My heart problems started when I was fifty nine, that is when I had my first heart attack in 2000. Between then and 2007 I had two more heart attacks and eight stents, and a pacemaker. I was very discouraged. That being said, I was the poster boy for bad cardiac health before the heart attack.
326176 tn?1239515689 The fact that you had Thrombolytic measures speaks of blockages, and blockages with a resulting heart attack usually means that some heart muscle died. Around the dead tissue one usually has weakened heart muscle tissue, and that is what you want to make healthy again, and with good drug regimens like Coreg, Altace, etc, coupled with exercise, you can strengthen your heart and increase the EF. I find definitions of heart trouble rather intimidating.
1464004 tn?1384135733 I went to prescribed the Verapamil, I took it for one day and quit. (going back on Atenolol). The reason was the impression that my heart beats were very strong. I walked to the top of the steps and I felt like I just got off a stress test. It turns out that although the Verapamil lowers your heart rate, it does not inhibit the sympathetic input to the heart like Beta Blockers do, so that anger, exertion, etc., will be able to more significantly stimulate the heart into a faster rhythm.
Avatar f tn 5 mg and Altace 10 mg.) 5 hours before having an Endoscopy? Would the pressure go to low with the anesthesia or go to high without the hypertension medications?
Avatar f tn My blood pressure used to be around 150 over 120 with a heart reate of 85 at rest. My doctor put me on Ramipril and Altace if I have the latter one correct. My blood pressure now is 120 over 85. However the resting heart rate is still abou 85. The fact that you pass out twice a year indicates that something is wrong which needs to be investigated. I'm quite convinced that if you mention your problems to your employers, they should understand. Your health is far more important.
