Why is my systolic blood pressure still high when I am taking Altace. My diastolic blood pressure is normal when I take Altace. Why the difference. Lisinopril and Carvedilol are blood pressure medications (lisinopril is an ACE inhibitor, Carvedilol is a beta blocker) and should not have any effect on your lipid profile. Both are important medications for those who have suffered a heart attack and undergone stenting. In addition to these medications, you should be on some sort of lipid medication (a "statin" such as atorvastatin, pravastatin, rosuvasatin, lovastatin, etc).

Three weeks ago I had my second ablation surgury (last was 5 yrs ago); they had to ablate about 900 points/spots which seems to represent about 40% or more of my heart. A week after the surgury I was readmitted as I was in Afib for about 8 hours straight (I've gone for days before the surgury) with my heart rate running in the 150's - 200.

5 mg had problems with that also, the problems that I was having was my BP would go down to 95/55 and I would get so dizzy and lightheaded all day long and was unable to live a normal life, so was put on Carvedilol 3.125 mg, I am doing better with this except that I have asthma and people who have bronchial disease shouldn't take Carvedilol it has a tendency to weaken the lungs, I have been having a terrible time with my asthma as of late, it could be the meds.

As far as I understand it, lisinopril (like all the ACE-I) may produce dry cough but normally no runny nose, also if you are taking it for 3 months and it is now when you have those problems, chances are that it is not lisinopril. Jesus.

I am taking high blood pressure medication called lisinopril and I started an itchy throat, itchy ear and start coughing like It would never stop, it's getting worse when I swallow liquid. Any advise or diagnoses for my symptoms?

I use simvastatin to lower the cholesterol and lisinopril to lower the bp. The lisinopril works w/o the simvastatin and v.v.

and 2mg of lisinopril. I only take a few supplements, mostly, a multi-vitamin and joint supplement, Mirracle greens, fish oil, CLA and Protien shakes after workouts. The main problem is I have every side-effect from the Coreg. (dizziness,headache,nausea,light headed ness and worst of all I have developed ED because of the meds.) My Cardiologist wants to double my Coreg dosage to 6mg twice daily. I barely function now as it is, I've been on them for a month. I feel HORRIBLE!!

Just so you know, on the maximal amount of Coreg and Lisinopril that your heart rate and blood pressure can handle, the heart muscle can get stronger and we can see the EF improve!!! I think you may have 15 years left to your heart but you need to be very careful and take all of your medications (never stop plavix again with all of the stents you have) as prescribed and continue exercising at least 30 min 3-4x per week.

Never had a heart attack. The Cardio put me on Metoprolol ( 50mg); Altace 2.5 mg and baby aspirin in addition to Lipitor 20mg. Sep. 2009 he took me off the Metoprolol and increased the Altace to 10 mg. My Blood potassium level at the time was perfectly normal at 3.6; after the spike in the ace-inhibitor my potassium level has risen in two months to 5.6, which I believe is an unsafe level. My family doctor has now asked me to go back to the 2.5 mg dosage and get re-tested after two weeks.

Hi, I was diagnosed in a ER with CHF a couple of weeks ago and the cardiologist I am to see is on vacation. I was placed on lisinopril, lasix, and propanolol as a preventive by my PCP while waiting. I have been coughing lately and I saw somewheres that coughing may be a lisinopril warning sign. Is this correct. I do not see the heart doctor until next friday for final diagnosis and future planning. Thank you in advance.

She also takes a high dosage of Lisinopril and Carvedilol and it seems like she is getting weaker at times. The dosage for Lisinopril is 40mg and 25mg for Carvedilol She has been taking this medication for almost 2 years now, but now she has become weaker and is more nervous now, have anxiety attacks. I was put on lisinopril and amlodipine. Ever since I started taking these medications my ocd has been totally out of control. There are rituals and image problems that I have never had before and it's really getting worse. Does anyone here have anxiety problems along with HBP and the medications have made them worse? Doctors don't believe me but I know my own mind and how different it is since I went on these medications.

I take Toprol XL 200 mgs. and Altace 20mgs. and have for many years however recently I have experienced an increase in blood pressure. I have lost some weight and continue to diet as well as exercise. My doctor has tried two calcium channel blockers with the results that I become very ill and unable to continue these medications. Now it has been 8 months after my hospitalization and they are trying Lisinopril again. I am up to 5mg and my BP is 90/60 , I feel a little off balance. They want me on at least 10mg, 20 is better but with a PB of 80/60 I doubt I will be able to handle the low BP . I normal BP is 110/75 I have no DM. No hyperlipidemia and not HTN. My EP doc feels that I should be with a Defribillator however I do not want one.

20 mg in 7 am , and 20 mg Lisinopril in 7 pm (so total = 40 mg Lisinopril per day). During the day (systolic) hypertension goes 150-160 mmHg and only in 2-4pm it is 130 mmHg (and at 10-12 pm). What should be done for this patient. Maybe trying a diuretic (hydrochlorthiazid) and lowering the dose of Lisinopril? I'm 56 yrs old with a bicuspid aortic valve, otherwise healthy. I'm 6'0" and weigh 162 lbs. My aortic root measure 3.8 cm in diameter and has been stable for a few years. I'm treated with lisinopril to reduce aortic root stress. My blood pressure is usually about 110 over 68. No valve stenosis. My cardiologist is watchful but otherwise not immediately concerned. At what point should I be concerned about replacing the aortic root?
