Altace and kidney disease

Common Questions and Answers about Altace and kidney disease

altace

Avatar m tn Never had a heart attack. The Cardio put me on Metoprolol ( 50mg); Altace 2.5 mg and baby aspirin in addition to Lipitor 20mg. Sep. 2009 he took me off the Metoprolol and increased the Altace to 10 mg. My Blood potassium level at the time was perfectly normal at 3.6; after the spike in the ace-inhibitor my potassium level has risen in two months to 5.6, which I believe is an unsafe level. My family doctor has now asked me to go back to the 2.5 mg dosage and get re-tested after two weeks.

Avatar f tn Have you checked in with your eye MD?
Avatar n tn An endo specializes in diabetes and sees a lot of kidney damage or kidney disease issues and can distinguish between them. Kidney damage could be serious; OTOH it can also be similar to "knee damage" when we fall & scrape our knees. We might be sore for a while & we might get a bruise or a scab, but the knee still does its intended function. Are you taking any blood pressure medicine?
Avatar n tn My concern is my history, my father has polycystic kidney disease(ADPKD) and is on hemodialysis. My general overall health decline in the past 3 years parallels his experience when he was close to my age and had cysts but yet no kidney failure at that time. I had four cysts on one kidney and five on the other when 2 seperate imaging tests were done. Two sets of cysts were described as mildly complex. The radiologist said they were simple cysts.
Avatar f tn He said the cough was a known Altace side effect and that I would have weigh the benefits of continuing to take Altace against the annoyance of the cough. I continued on Altace and but after a few months I coughed up blood for the first time. Prior to this, my cough had been dry. In June 2008. I found a new MD and explained my cough and family history (2 parents with lung cancer). She immediately took me off Altace and ordered a chest X-Ray.
Avatar f tn I am 22 and have just found out I have kidney disease. I do not want to tell my family, because I know they wouldn't deal with it very well. Is it likely to be easy keeping this from them (I live with them)? I am considering not receiving any treament for now to make extra certain family don't find out.
Avatar f tn Why is my systolic blood pressure still high when I am taking Altace. My diastolic blood pressure is normal when I take Altace. Why the difference. Could I have angina since I have had pain in my chest around the heart area and in the middle of the chest. Also, could I have arterialschlorsis from the high systolic blood pressure? This discussion is related to <a href='http://www.medhelp.org/posts/show/252636'>high systolic normal diastolic blood pressure?</a>.

Avatar f tn Hi there, about a month and a half ago I started feeling like something was always under both my ribs and it has been persistently like this and it's really uncomfortable, I'm also always itchy at night and have been feeling really dizzy and lightheaded constantly. I've went to my doctors and they took my bloods and all that came up was that my potassium levels were slightly high.

Avatar f tn Hi recently I had pain on my adominal, usually the pain is on the right upper abdomen and the pain seem to move to lower left and right. 387767 tn?1345872027 Be sure to discuss all recommended vaccines with your veterinarian. A cat with kidney disease or kidney failure should not be vaccinated at all. Long-term feeding of an all-dry-food diet is also suspected as a factor in Chronic Renal Failure. Cats' kidneys are highly efficient and adapted to life in the desert, where they would get most or all of their water from eating their prey.
Avatar f tn Im very sick and cant get anyone to help. Ive even had a dr tell me he wont diagnose me with kidney disease until I get insurance so I got insurance and they denied coverage before he even diagnosed me. Avatar n tn Hello, The symptoms are definitely suggestive of kidney disease. You should get an ultrasound kidneys and kidney function tests done to confirm the diagnosis. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
Avatar m tn Obviously, he has severe anemia and no amount of iron will fix this kind. I have never heard of chemotherapy for kidney disease or kidney damage. I have kidney damage (kidney disease) due to an autoimmune disease. Kidney function is at 26% now, up from 20%. Autoimmune disease is in remission since I had all the mercury fillings removed from my teeth.
Avatar n tn I would encourage both of you to talk with his endocrinologist about looking into possible changes that can bring his a1c levels well down below 7. That truly is his best protection not only against kidney disease, but against other complications. If sugar levels are maintained at near normal levels, damage cannot happen.
Avatar f tn I have a 14 year old cocker spaniel who was recently diagnosed with kidney disease. She originally got sick a few weeks ago with pacreatitis, and when she recovered her lab work showed the kidney problems. We have been giving her fluids every other night as well as the epakitin powder with her food. Her blood report was better this last time. However she seems pretty good, has a good appetite ect and I'm wondering if there is anything else that could be causing this disease?

I'm getting my questions together as I want to be prepared for the office visit and I have concerns with regards to HepC TX and kidney disease. I am Genotype 1a and had TX (pegalyated interferon and ribavirin) ten years ago but relapsed after a viral breakthrough at 6 months.
Avatar f tn Hi, The two main causes of chronic kidney disease are diabetes and high blood pressure. Glomerulonephritis, inherited kidney diseases, congenital conditions and infection may also be responsible. A lot of studies have linked soda to diabetes. Though drinking soda will not directly cause diabetes, it adds extra calories to the diet that may cause weight gain, increasing the risk for developing diabetes.
