Common Questions and Answers about Altace and exercise

altace

Avatar f tn I take Toprol XL 200 mgs. and Altace 20mgs. and have for many years however recently I have experienced an increase in blood pressure. I have lost some weight and continue to diet as well as exercise. My doctor has tried two calcium channel blockers with the results that I become very ill and unable to continue these medications. Any suggestions?
Avatar m tn I have had 3 heart attacks and 3 stents in RCA. I continued to have angina. I had alot of episodes that would wake me out of a dead sleep. I was put on Norvasc (calcium channel blocker) in additon to Lopressor and Altace. Haven't had any spasms lately. Hope you feel better.
Avatar n tn I had an ejection fraction that over the years has decreased to 20% and in the last six months it quickly returned to 60% indicated by measurements from both an echo and MUGA testing. The symptoms of CHF have not changed, so the blood flow per beat has not increased. Why has the EF increased so greatly and what would it indicate?
907729 tn?1244174363 I am a 41yr old female I have Type II diabetes, hypothyroid, and I have heart disease and heart failure. I am severely obese and have tried many diets and also exercise.. I have been overweight most of my life. I need to loose weight for my health. I need to get heart sugery, but they won't do it based on my weight. I want to know if I would qualify for the gastric bypass surgery.
Avatar f tn Why is my systolic blood pressure still high when I am taking Altace. My diastolic blood pressure is normal when I take Altace. Why the difference. Could I have angina since I have had pain in my chest around the heart area and in the middle of the chest. Also, could I have arterialschlorsis from the high systolic blood pressure? This discussion is related to <a href='http://www.medhelp.org/posts/show/252636'>high systolic normal diastolic blood pressure?</a>.
Avatar m tn Never had a heart attack. The Cardio put me on Metoprolol ( 50mg); Altace 2.5 mg and baby aspirin in addition to Lipitor 20mg. Sep. 2009 he took me off the Metoprolol and increased the Altace to 10 mg. My Blood potassium level at the time was perfectly normal at 3.6; after the spike in the ace-inhibitor my potassium level has risen in two months to 5.6, which I believe is an unsafe level. My family doctor has now asked me to go back to the 2.5 mg dosage and get re-tested after two weeks.
Avatar m tn ABOUT 2 YEARS AGO MY CARDIOLOGIST INFORMED ME THAT I ALSO HAVE HOCM (BASED ON A STRESS ECHO) SEPTAL WALL THICKNESS OF 1.5 AND LVOT OF 126 WITH EXERCISE...HE DID NOT PROSCRIBE ANYTHING OTHER THAN TELLING ME TO STAY ON ALTACE...RECENTLY (ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO) I BEGAN GETTING INCREASINGLY TIRED, CONSISTENTLY LIGHTHEADED AND OVERLY FATIGUED...I WAS TOLD I HAVE CELIAC DISEASE AND WENT BACK TO WORK...
Avatar m tn My EF was in the 30's, and was slowly advanced to 25 mg Coreg twice a day, and 10 mg of Altace. My EF increased, but like you I had extreme fatigue issues, and I had several fainting episodes at night because of low blood pressure. The Coreg was reduced to 6.25 X 2 and the Altace reduced to 5mg, and I'm getting along fine.
Avatar f tn Have you checked in with your eye MD?
Avatar n tn this sounds like a question for a medical professional , and you should be prepared to give some history.
Avatar n tn What can be done to reverse plague that has build up for 30 something years? Other than exercise and diet, is there any kind of treatment, medication, "super-food" (the fad of the day it seems) that will do the trick? What does one do when exercise causes chest pain and sob?
1280592 tn?1271522660 ve been on a beta blocker ( Metoprolol- 25 mg ), Altace ( 5 mg ), baby aspirin, Lipitir 20mg. Recently I had an exercise stress test, reached just over 100% of my target rate ( 220 less age 66 ). My Mets were 11. Is that a good score? I am required to exercise an hour a day; I take an hour's brisk walk daily. But it appears that my walking speed of 4 miles an hour( 6 kilometres ) is not pushing my heart rate up to the 147 a minute required. It goes up to about 120 a minute.
Avatar f tn Forget about your aunts and grandmother, and concentrate on you.(We all think because that and that happened to them …NO. .irrelevant, only about 25% of the DCM deleted cardiomiopathy are or probably inherited as I know of, but I am not a doctor , but this is my cardiologist (and my research) opinion) Even if so, it is your duty to take the best care of yourself ,instead of worrying . You need a cardiologist. You need more test. Ultrasound for one, only with that test they can tell your EF.
Avatar f tn IS IT OK to take hypertension medication (such as IC Cartia 360 mg, Atenonlol 12.5 mg and Altace 10 mg.) 5 hours before having an Endoscopy? Would the pressure go to low with the anesthesia or go to high without the hypertension medications?
Avatar n tn Test showed two short segments with 75% and 85% blockage and longer stretch with 50%. They put in 2 short stents and first two and longer stent in the longer area overlapping with stent for 85% blockage. Sent home with Plavix, Altace (Ramiprimil) and Lipitor (Ran-Atorvastatin). plus ASA. Have only taken Plavix and ASA so far and have a sort of congested feeling in esophagus and stomach-Like mild indigestion, feeling full and feeling like stuffing self when eat. Still in shock and ajusting.
15695260 tn?1549593113 Common medications in this class of drugs are commonly used medications such as captopril (Capoten), fosinopril (Monopril), lisinopril (Prinivil or Zestril), perindopril (Aceon), ramipril (Altace) and trandolapril (Mavik). It should be noted that this research was not done as a clinical trial but rather an 'observational study' where older adults with Alzheimer's or other forms of dementia were being studied. About a quarter were on ACE inhibitors and they observed this benefit.
Avatar f tn Wouldn't an Ace Inhibitor work better? I was on Altace and had problems. Then they put me on the Lopressor (metoprolol) along with the Altace. The altace lower my blood pressure too much, so I stick with the beta blocker and leave out the ace inhibitor. That works for me. But man oh man, I cannot run out of the beta blocker without servious side effects. Maybe in this case using both would help more.
1464004 tn?1384135733 m also instituting some significant dietary changes such as a limitation as much as possible of sodium and increase of exercise to help with the BP so hopefully I don't have to be on this for too long.
Avatar m tn It has been working for me without questions. I am on Cholesterol meds and hypertension meds(Metoprolol, Altace and Norvasc) which I have been taking for the last two years. Recently I used some viagra two hours before an encounter with my date. I started drinking after the taking the Viagra. The viagra did not work....I took another one and waited awhile and it still didn't work...I took one more and waited a while with no results....
Avatar n tn Hello. I am taking 10mg Ripineril. I have been noticing a foggy feeling and one of my fingers twitches from time to time. Could this be from the ripineril? Never felt this before. I've been on this medication dosage for about a month now. I startedout on the2.5mg about in may. Just wondering if with the increase that im feeling this way and with the twiching now is normal with taking thos drug.
Avatar m tn well a pulse of 48-50 does sound like bradycardia, but maybe it was just intermittent?i got my ablation a week ago and i am getting the odd thumping sensation ,i think palps are normal for a while after the procedure but not sure about the pulse rate.........
Avatar f tn I take it that even though the anesthesia will help to relax a patient during such a procedure, I wondered is it still okay for a patient to take their hypertension medication (such as IC Cartia 360 mg, Atenonlol 12.5 mg and Altace 10 mg.)? Would the pressure go to low with the anesthesia or go to high without the hypertension medications?
295603 tn?1268780834 My heart problems started when I was fifty nine, that is when I had my first heart attack in 2000. Between then and 2007 I had two more heart attacks and eight stents, and a pacemaker. I was very discouraged. That being said, I was the poster boy for bad cardiac health before the heart attack.
326176 tn?1239515689 Around the dead tissue one usually has weakened heart muscle tissue, and that is what you want to make healthy again, and with good drug regimens like Coreg, Altace, etc, coupled with exercise, you can strengthen your heart and increase the EF. I find definitions of heart trouble rather intimidating. The first time Congestive Heart Failure was used in my case I went into quite a funk.
Avatar m tn Hi: I used to be on flecinade for 3-4 years and it worked great - basically it was akin to nitro - when I went into Afib it would quickly help restore sinus rythm. I'm now on sotolol and altace (blood pressure) which seems to help keep my heart rate down but it feels like a war as my heart wants to race. I'm not sure of any side effects as I have several issues but it does work to keep my heart rate below 100's and most often in the 60's - 70's.
Avatar m tn Had multiple stents (4) placed four (4) years ago, two in LAD with no side effects and good nuclear and stress test results over this period. Am currently taking Plavix/Aspirin/Coreg/Altace. Need arthroscopic repair on knee but concerned over cessating of Plavix. One cardiologist recommended ending Plavix entirely, second (same practice) would rather wait for a large study about to be completed. Suggestions?
Avatar n tn I take Lipitor, Nexium, and Altace for high blood pressure, high cholesterol and heartburn. I had femoral artery blockages 13 years ago and was a smoker. Guys, I'm not making this up, somebody please advise if you ever heard of such a thing, this is very alarming. My penis has shrunk and appears to be continuing to do so. HELP!
Avatar m tn My heart rate and blood pressure would get too low if I took the Altace with the others. I take Metropolol, Isosorbide (Isordil), Norvasc, Tricor, and Nitro as needed, but stopped a few of the other drugs. As far as walking, it is still an effort for me to get started. I am so sleepy at times, but I know it is doing me a world of good. Did they mention doing a bypass? I have a stent in my RCA.
