Allergy testing mold

Common Questions and Answers about Allergy testing mold

allergies

Avatar f tn Hello all. I'm looking for a little insight. To begin with, I am 23 years old and in pretty good health, if I do say so myself. I have never been allergic to anything in my life, with the exception of Prozac (which gave me hives on my elbows/knees).
Avatar f tn Thank you for your reply. I recently had blood test checking mold, but the results have been lost..so the doctors are looking for them. Did you have to come in direct contact or just in the vicinity of the mold? My attack last weekend, I had just come in from outside and within 4 minutes the attack started. There is no mold outside as it is too cold.
Avatar n tn They did a blood test for mold and it came back i was right about the mold, they said i was allergic to mold and dust. They gave me medacine for the breathing, symbicort and some depression pills. The breathing has got a little better but not 100% but the chest pains are still there. The pain is mostly in the middle of my chest. I just want to know if this is normal with an allergic reaction/exposure to mold?
Avatar m tn Almost 3 years later I live off just a hand full of things I know I can eat. I went to an allergist and he would not do the allergy testing due to the high risk of a massive anaphylactic reaction. I have been researching mold exposure and mold spores in the lungs that can cause anaphylaxis to multiple foods, but mainly fish and seafood is by far the worst. Does this all sound like it is being triggered by mold spores?
Avatar n tn Homeopathy is helpful to some, and some chiropractors claim to be good at aiding allergy sufferers through muscle testing. Many medications aggravate or cause allergies either directly, or by impeding the immune system.
Avatar f tn My 17 year old son suddenly has developed random swelling and sometimes hives around or beside his joints. This happens randomly and could be his elbow, thumb, knee and even pelvis around the hips joints. We took him to a doctor and he did blood tests and said he was allergic to mold. Well we live in a dry climate and in a brand new house so I'm ruling out mold. The mold he eluded to was alternarius tenius (sorry spelling may be off). Any help would be appreciated.
Avatar n tn Anyway about a year ago I went to see an ENT because my allergies were leading to chronic sinus infections. They had me do allergy testing, both skin and blood, and I tested negative for everything. The doctor said that it was non-allergic rhinitis. Now I've read up on non-allergic rhinitis and agree that some of my symptoms are probably caused by non-allergic rhinitis, but some things just don't seem to fit.
485259 tn?1519047026 My husband has been battling what we thought was a mold allergy for the past 5yrs. The main symptom is a migraine but other symptoms include rash, swelling etc. An allergy specialist has just told us that it is not an "allergy" as allergies don't cause migraine. After 5yrs of figuring out what causes my husbands migraines I know 100% it is caused by mold (weather or not they want to call it an allergy).
Avatar m tn No pollens/molds in my area at this time and my house is a model allergy home (no carpet, no pets, no excess moisture, HEPA filters, air purifier, etc), I called an indoor air quality company. Found barely trace amts of mold in basement (both air and surface), but found small amounts of aspergillus/pencillium in bedroom (264/m3). Surprising b/c my HEPA air purifier had been running in that room up until about an hour before they got there (it ran all night).
Avatar f tn Also I have two dogs who shed a lot. Seems strange to all of a sudden develop allergy. Had allergy testing done and found more allergic to cats than dogs, but had high antibodies to different bacterium and candida above normal. Could mold do this? Going crazy, Thanks.
577603 tn?1217700205 Hi ! There is a product called "BioAllers Allergy Relief Mold, Yeast & Dust". It sells online for only $ 5.39 and has a 4 star rating. If mold is your problem... this remedy may work for you and desensitize your allergy to mold. It isn't expensive and IMO... worth the gamble. I know that allergy shots make me very ill, so I can't tolerate them.
Avatar f tn I'm a 48 year old woman I have a 23 year old daughter a 20 year old son and a 49 year old husband. About 8 yrs ago it started with my daughter first she would get a severe stomach cramp and turn bright red from head to toe, itching and burning like she was on fire and hives would welt up all over her followed by vomiting. I had taken her to the doctor.
Avatar n tn The discomfort that you are having in the chest can be due to air borne mold allergy and its diagnosis can only be confirmed after skin testing or RAST testing. Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or if hou have any additional doubts.
Avatar f tn ve been pregnant for almost a year, no its not morning sickness) ~tingling/pain in my arm including joint pain in my wrist and elbow (no injury) ~Extreme pain from my hip to my knee (my doctor thinks may be sciatica) I know I am senstive to mold in general as I have a skin allergy to outside mold (skin rash from mold on the leaves).
Avatar n tn Because allergy meds seem to only work for a while on me like a year or so, the doc has now done allergy testing and I am on allergy shots. I do not have any severe allergic reactions ever but due to the constant headaches and alot of sinus infections we went to shots. Other avenues of my headache causes have already been exhausted. I have no structural problem in my sinuses and my MRI was clear. On my allergy testing..
Avatar f tn If the itch resolves on steroids but then recurs despite the Revolution and the strict hypoallergenic diet, then the reason/diagnosis would be pollen/dust allergies (atopy), and I would recommend a consultation with a veterinary dermatologist (www.acvd.org) to discuss allergy skin testing and desensitization injections for pollen/dust allergies so that your dog does not have to live on steroids. Good luck, Kimberly Coyner, DVM DACVD www.dermvetvegas.
Avatar f tn I believe the increase in symptoms has something to do with an untested mold allergy. I was tested for common indoor and outdoor molds but obviously there are too many to test for all of them. My symptoms were horrible from July on, but I could explain them all until end of september due to high dust mite exposure. I also was having increased asthma/allergy symptoms during and after my fungal biology labs, which of course we were dealing with molds.
Avatar f tn This is especially true if the weather is wet. I think it is some type of mold allergy, but he went last spring to an allergy doctor who wouldn't even test him because she said by looking at him she could tell he does not have allergies. The symptoms clear up in the summer and do not return until spring. What in the world could this be? We are desperate for answers! Thanks!
