epipen

Avatar m tn For a couple of years I started having this reaction to mangoes, where my lips burn and start to get crusty, and it has developed to that, my mouth gets itchy and dry, and my throat becomes raw. My aunt who used to be a RN gave me something called aclivor (both a pill and some kind of paste for my lips) which seemed to work for the first event. But lately, I've been running out of the paste and the only place I can find aclivor is on online pharmacies from Mexico.
Avatar f tn Definitely talk to your doctor in the morning. I have anaphylaxis when stung by bees. They told me to carry my epipen (shot) & take it, then go to the hospital if I got stung. They told me to do what I normally do, but get monitored. They may want you to come in since your immune system is low, due to being pregnant & the reaction could be worse or cause a fever.
Avatar f tn a whole body reaction like that sounds a lot like a food allergy. and your reactions sound pretty serious. just as a warning, these type of allergies can cause more severe reactions the more you are exposed, so next time it happens it could be much worse. I would go to a doctor and get an epipen (spelling?). hopefully you will never need it, but it might save your life.
Avatar n tn So sorry to be late in responding- how are the bumps doing today? I wouldn't take an epi-pen for that, as long as you are freely breathing and it's just the rash you are seeing. It's very difficult to say for sure if this is an allergic reaction without a doctor being able to look at the issue and have a bit more of your medical history. If you have an epi-pen, I'd imagine you do have a known allergy issue with something?
Avatar n tn No facial numbness but extreme dizziness and breathing difficulty. I have an epipen but have never used it. Does anyone know of a common allergy to food additives or preservatives. I have to eat out a good bit for my business and am getting very nervous about eating in restaurants. How can I narrow down what is causing these problems?
Avatar f tn d avoid it at least for the pregnancy. Not sure if they can or will do allergy testing while pregnant.
Avatar m tn I now carry an epipen but would really like to track down the food that caused me to go into shock. Has anyone had such a reaction to chives or green onions without being allergic to other foods in that family? Thanks for any help you can give me.
Avatar m tn Soy allergy is most common in children, especially toddlers and infants. As you grow older, your digestive system matures and your body is less likely to absorb food or food components that trigger allergies. In some cases, people who are allergic to wheat, beans (legumes), milk or other foods can have an allergic reaction to soy. You can confirm this by blood test to see for raised IgE levels and skin testing for soy products.
Avatar n tn I was rushed to emergency, given benedryl and sent home 4 hours later. I got an Epipen for I was told, although rare, that I could have a secondary reaction within the next week. Sure enough November 5 I had a second reaction (bi-phasic reaction). I was given the epipen by my mother for I passed out and couldn't give it myself. Back to the hospital.
709686 tn?1277432159 Two weeks ago I ran across a website that listed Nightshade allergy symptoms which are pretty typical of any food allergy symptoms but these seem to be different and focus mainly on neurological problmes such as muscle pain, joint pain, headaches..etc. Other food allergy symptoms are typically face & throat swelling, hives..etc. Could I have found my culprit? ANyone else ever gone through this?
Avatar f tn I'm a healthy 24 year old female from Ohio.. have had all kinds of indoor and outdoor allergies since childhood, but around age 21, I developed several food allergies. mainly tree nuts, some beans, and fruit. I recently was retested to see if any of them went away, and it has only gotten severely worse! longer list of nuts, fruits, beans... it's beginning to seem the list of things I CAN eat is shorter than the list of things I CAN'T eat.
9552239 tn?1404989880 I was then referred to an allergy clinic for controlled drug allergy testing, I am allergic to all antibiotics except one, which is a horrible drug and makes you feel awful for ages, also allergic to Aspirin, Ibuprofen and all their related drugs - I was given 3 pages of drugs I can't have. So after that I always avoid drugs as much as I can now matter how ill I feel, I stick to paracetamol and anti-histamines only.
Avatar m tn I would suggest you obtain a referral to an allergist or an ENT who does allergy testing. That is the only way to reliably know what is causing your allergic reaction. Some allergies can be life-threatening as they can precipitate anaphylactic shock in which the swelling can be so severe that it impairs the ability to breathe. Therefore, I would suggest you see someone as soon as possible. Also, keep an epi pen with you in case of an emergency. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn Of these the anaphylactic reactions are the most severe forms and the symptoms can include breathlessness with stridor and with dropping of blood pressure resulting in loss of consciousness. It is a medical emergency and needs to be tackled immediately. Epipen is used in such situations. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.

20451547 tn?1498215245 I have been having panic attacks ever since early 2015 when I was first ever stang by a wasp and went into anaphylactic shock.(the er doctor said I am allergic to bees/wasps/hornets venom. That day I was rushed back into the er and bum rushed by 5 different nurses and a doctor, one nurse asking me which arm I want the epipen in? I am like Idc I can't breath stab me! ) I almost died that day, and now I have been having panic attacks almost every other day.
Avatar n tn I am assuming her doctor knows about the previous allergy and I would say if she takes the medication just watch her very closely for an adverse effects. Best of luck!
Avatar m tn ve tried tracking it as a seasonal allergy or a food allergy, and have yet to find any link to specific triggers. My ENT seems at a loss. He gave me a cortizone shot for the pain in my neck/ears, but it seems like it's treating the symptom, not the cause. We did a throat culture that came back negative. I started taking allergy shots a few months back, but I'm not sure if they're helping.
338416 tn?1420045702 So I've noticed something interesting since I stopped taking Copaxone. Last year, while I was taking Copaxone, I would have the worst time with injury. If I bit my tongue on the side, it swelled up. If the dog managed to whack me on the lip, that would swell up too. Mosquito bites were the worst - the area would swell up and hurt. The swelling was all out of proportion to the injury. The doctor said it was angioedema, caused by injury, but couldn't find a cause.
Avatar n tn ersonally from my experience I would get size 1 I purchase new born Pampers.. tons of them before the baby was born only to find out that when he was born he couldn't fit into new born he was size 1 from the start unfortunately I had opened all the newborn diapers and stacked them up in a cute diaper holder so I couldn't even return them. I would say size 1..
Avatar n tn Here is a brief history/timeline of the "allergic reactions" I've had. Prior to this I have not had allergic reactions before. Also I live in Mexico and, so far, the doctors have been of no help. January 2012 - while vacationing at the beach had a big lump appear on the bottoms of each foot. It was hard, painful and itchy. At the time I was taking 2 anti-biotics for a bladder infection. I didn't not pay any attention to food or anything I consumed.
Avatar f tn As indicated epipen is for emergencies. Vitamins may not help with preventing allergies. The diagnosis of allergy is difficult to prove or refute. Clinical suspicion and trial of elimination diets are used. An allergy specialist might be able to help you. He may try to identify the offending allergen and try to desensitize you. Hope this helped and Do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn m also allergic to several medications (antibiotics) and my doctor said I might need an epipen when I take them to keep me alive until I get to a hospital. Just about all antibiotics close my throat. But I thought epipens contained epiphenephrine, and was told by a friend that it's bad for those with a heart arrhythmia. Has anyone here with PVCs had to use an epipen for an anaphlactic shock reaction, and if so, was it safe for the heart? Thanks.
453255 tn?1205792176 I have anaphylaxis and severe asthma, and I have several known anaphylactic triggers, (such as all treenuts, certain types of pollen, and raw fruit - especially apples) - but my new allergist I recently met with explained to me the reason I am allergic to raw fruit such as apples, peaches, pairs plumbs is because of a condition called "Oral Allergy Syndrome" where my tongue recognizes the fruit as pollen in its raw state.
