1008856 tn?1250634650 My left lower eyelid would get swollen as if there was a build up of fluid, so I do the a hot and cold compress to see which one helps, and also take Benadryl. After a day or so it seems to go away. Now it is on my upper eyelids only, one eye at a time. Normally it is the left and today it is the right. Takes a few days but it goes away. It also makes the sides of my face itchy but my eyes never have problems. Sometimes the night before it happens they get real dry and itchy.
Avatar n tn I have suffered with allergies for about 15 years, mostly occasional sneezing and itchy skin when in contact with some cats. The main problem is a blocked up nose, I have had allergy testing which confirm allergies to cats, dogs and rabbits, and a mild allergy to pollen. I have also have asthma which is under control. I have used various anti-histimines and nasal steroid sprays with some success.
Avatar n tn My eyes become very red and sore and hives appear on my eyelids. My eye rash started as a bit of raw skin at the outer corners where my eyes would tear, then spread to the fold of my upper eyelids, and now the entire undereye area of both eyes is painful, itchy, red and raw. After drinking alcohol the eye rash becomes much worse and causes me great pain. I have had an allergy test and are only allergic to milk and nuts.

Avatar f tn I have had puffy, swollen eyelids for months-ever since the day after my gallbladder surgery months ago. I have tried to go weeks without makeup (it only got worse), I've cut out all sorts of foods in case it was an allergy, I'm taking allergy medication (Reactin, Allegra) and started also trying Benedryl. I've changed my detergent for laundry, soaps, hair products-everything.

Avatar n tn Then it can be conjunctivitis (bacterial, viral or fungal) It can also be due to Allergies, including seasonal allergies or hay fever or due to Chemical irritants (such as chlorine in a swimming pool or makeup) You should a apply cool compresses to soothe itching, apply warm soaks to soften crusts on the eyelids and lashes, then gently wipe the eyes with a soft gauze pad. Taking antihistamine eye drops and refrigerated artificial tears also help.

Avatar m tn Every so often, my eyelids will be come extremely dry. I first knew something was wrong when I noticed that when I rubbed my eyes, even slightly, little pieces of skin would come off of my top eyelid. This happened when I was putting on my makeup. Throughout the day, my eyelids (my whole face really) felt really heavy, thick, and uncomfortable. When I took off my makeup later in the day, my eyelids were burning, stinging, and incredibly dry.

Avatar m tn Hello, I have had an undiagnosed problem for about 6 years now. I've seen about 20 doctors, even in the best hospitals in my city (in Asia), and the problem remains, which brought me here. Symptoms: - When I talk for a period of time (depends on how loud I speak, and also depends on dryness of the air I think), I feel a pain or dryness (or swelling?) in my nasopharynx area. The whites of my eyes, and my eyelids become red as if I'm very tired, and my eyelids swell.
Avatar m tn I dont think so. But if your eyelids itches then there might be some issue. better consult an eye specialist.
Avatar m tn At that time I expressed concern over my left eylid being swollen when I awake. It is swollen to an extent that when I open my eyes and look into the mirror up close, my left eyeball will not move and remains stationary. This will continue for about 20 seconds and then it will begin to track with my other eye after blinking. I have noticed that I have had 2 styes in the past 3 weeks in that particular eye as well. My doctor prescribe me a allergy drop that seems not to be working.
Avatar m tn Most of the sunscreens have chemical which warrant their use in delicate area like close to the eyes or eyelids. The chemicals in sunscreens can irritate the eyes as they mix with sweat and start dripping. In such cases, it is advisable to use sun protection goggles when going out in the sun. The other idea is to use sports UV defense or sunscreen used by athletes which is mostly sweatproof.
Avatar n tn m 26 and since 3-4 months ago my eyes started to feel painful. I started having dry eyes, red eyes, ... It was a hell to go through the day as I spent most of it behind a computer (work). Since then I have been to several optometrist and ophthalmologists. The first 3 I went to diagnosed an (bacterial) inflammination. I received different drops and gels but nothing really helped. My last ophthalmologist diagnosed it as an allergy.
Avatar m tn ve seen an optometrist and two ophthalmologists and they all say my eyes are very healthy and suggest artificial tears and allergy drops. Well, the allergy drops seem to be helping some with the itch but no drop fixes my vision problems (glare/starburst/ghosting). The film/mucus is the worst in the morning but never fully goes away. I can see it in the mirror sliding up my eye every time I blink. Any suggestions on what i should do?
Avatar m tn Usually if one eye it is contact allergy, something the eyelids come in contact with generally by rubbing the eye. There are some very rare problems that can cause one eye to swell. You need to see an Eye MD ophthalmologist. Take some pictures of what the eye looks like when swollen to show the Eye MD. If you live in large metro area and have access to Eye MD subspecialists look for ophthalmologist that specializes in "cornea and external diseases".
Avatar n tn I´ve basically recovered and my eyes look normal, but both of my bottom inner eyelids are quite red in color. I´ve noticed especially that when I wake up in the morning, my inner eyelids are a bright red. Throughout the day, my inner eyelids return to a more reddy-pink color, but are red nonetheless. I´ve gone through 4 different conjunctivities medications, and the last doctor I saw has stopped my medication altogether. I now only put in drops of artificial tears.
Avatar f tn 2 weeks ago she collapsed and was taken into hospital, the following Saturday her face and eyes began to swell. This has been going on for 2 weeks now and we still have no answers. Her eyelids are severely swollen to the point where she can't open them, she's very tired, dizzy, loss of appetite and always cold. The doctors have suggested it could be an allergy but have also said that doesn't explain why she collapsed, nor can they offer any suggestion to what the allergy could be.
