Avatar m tn If the IgE was high that could be allergy, also sometimes parasites can cause IgE to get higher. But if you dont' have diarrhea or other gastric problems then you probably don't have a parasite. IgG is one of the immunoglobulins that can be high when you are fighting an infection or your immunity (long term and past infections) is good. IgM is short term (current) infection. So, it probably is okay to have a slightly lower IgM and higher IgG.
Avatar m tn Do not waste your money on quackery/dubious tests: "The following procedures are not valid for managing food allergies: Neurological Stress Reduction Therapy (NRST) purports to use a BAX 3000 device to assess and treat allergies and many other conditions with a 'light and sound energy relaxation technique' that supposedly identifies problematic substances and conditions the body not to react negatively to them." Avatar m tn I am only looking for a second opinion based on facts known about allergy shots. I am not sure if my doctor is worried about hurting me or if I am totally wrong. I seem to benefit more when it was strong enough to trigger a small controllable reaction 4-6 minutes after an injection. 2 hours later when the reaction wore off I felt GREAT! This question is if they are triggering a reaction does that mean that they will not work as well?
Avatar f tn I also had hormones check...all came back in normal range. I started having allergy shots about 2 years ago and have a feeling this may be the cause but I know for sure. Has anyone had any hair changes/loss due to allergen immunology? I have started taking a thyroid supplement and lots of other hair supporting supplements, including bone broth. Would apprceiate any help, or advise. Thanks!

Avatar f tn Pathology says it points to immunology but they say it is not an immune disorder. We are currently waiting to see Allergy Dr. and Rhuemotology. Although we have moved and changed many things, nothing has helped. He now has no pain relief. He doesn't eat well cause he can't, and is fatigued. I have heard from the Dr.s over and over that they have heard of this but never have seen it. They have seen mouth ulcers but never to this degree.

Avatar f tn I took your advice and had immunoglobulin testing and an allergy panel. I have a load of allergies, from dust mites to milk, wheat and eggs (all my favorites). I also had a cat scan done because of an inflammation that I have above my collarbone. Severe enough to make my neck look enflamed-right side more so than the left. The cat scan showed so inflammation in my lymph nodes in the anterior or postior of the neck. My immunology test for P-ANCA (mpo) WAS .92 and my ANA was Positive 1:80.
Avatar m tn Hello, Antibiotics are usually prescribed for infections and if you are having severe allergies then you can take a combination of antiallergy medications, steroids and if nothing proves useful then you can take allergy shots as well. However, there is a way of preventing the long term symptoms of allergies. This is through a process known as immunology, more commonly referred to as an allergy shot. So please discuss about these with your allergist.

Avatar m tn When allergens cross-link the IgE molecules degranulation is induced and mediators such as histamine and other vasoactive amines are released and produce the allergic reactions. Diagnosis of allergies is done by skin ***** or patch tests and confirmation is done by blood tests like RAST. The most important treatment for allergies is avoidance of the allergen.
Avatar f tn My daughter is 8 and has had a chronic cough since the end of 2009. She has a daily cough where she coughs almost constantly some days and then has a few days when she doesn't cough hardly at all that day and then about 12 times a year has a horrible worsened cough that sounds like the croup or bronchitis. We are under the care of a large childrens hospital in our home state but I am not happy with the care she is receiving. We still don't have a diagnosis or any treatment.
