1931528 tn?1323251138 Sometimes, a damp enviroment can cause mold. If there is mold in the house, then yes, the asthma could get a little worse. My little sister has asthma, and we don't have to keep the house extremely dry for her. But a dehumidifier wouldn't hurt to have around.

Avatar f tn A careful nasal examination, Allergen-specific testing includes Skin testing, Serum tests for allergy, Allergen challenge and as well as Evaluation for concurrent conditions like Sinusitis and Asthma (pulmonary function tests) is necessary and it directs further steps for management. You need to avoid the exposure by covering nose with a cloth, whenever you are exposed to inhalants.
Avatar m tn This can cause allergic rhinitis and in some people Asthma. Symptoms of Asthma can get pronounced at night and cause cough, chest tightness and breathlessness, which can disturb sleep. Therapy is with bronchodilators which cause the airways to dilate. Have yourself evaluated for the same. This can be detected by a spirometry test. Also, allergic testing would be worth looking into. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn I have a 3 1/2 year old son, since he was about 7months we have struggled with asthma and allergy issues. As a new and first time mother I could not get any one (including 6 peditricians) to listen to me until he was a year old and had to hospitalized for croup in June. Apparently this is out of the norm for our area. Even at that point no one was concerned or felt that we should do any type of preventitive medications.
Avatar n tn Could that have been Allergy induced Asthma? Could it start now even though i am 26? And how common is Multiple Chemical Sensitivity? And can Perinnial Rhinitus Allergies get worse with time?Sometimes i'm not sure if it's allergies causing my symptoms or anxiety. Thank you!
Avatar n tn The first day l was choked and l took a glass of water and it went of. The second day it happened again and again until a week. l went to the hospital and l was told that l have alot of acid and was given anti acid gel and omeprazle tablets for a month and was given a number of foods not to eat like no fizzy drinks, deep fried foods e.t.c. After a medical check up l was given some more tablets and anti acid gel again. There was still not very much improvement and l was given allergy treatment.
Avatar n tn I am unable to protect it against the sun or wind and find it affecting my mental health and friendships and my patient husband.
Avatar n tn If the asthma persists despite good control of the reflux, the avoidance of cats and dogs and good asthma therapy, you might then want to inquire about skin tests. In the meantime, don't forget that allergens and irritants in the workplace can also be a "cause" of asthma. Good luck.
Avatar n tn I've had asthma since I was 10 yrs old, I'm now 27. I've played soccer since I was a kid and never had any serious issues. About 2 yrs ago I had a real bad cold/sinus infection and ended up in the ER because of my asthma. Ever since then, I have not been able to get my asthma under control. I've been prescribed almost everything you can think of, steroids, albuterol, xopenex (inhaler and inhalation solution), budesonide, mucinex and that's just for my asthma.
Avatar m tn The symptoms that sound like asthma are the lack of breath and the strange feeling like breathing cold air. Understand that to be sure about the diagnosis, you should really see a doctor who will listen to your chest and organize a peak flow test. Sometimes more formal testing is necessary to be entirely certain about the diagnosis.
Avatar f tn Basically, I had a bowl of soup (from a tin) and a couple of cheese sandwiches for dinner then sat and watch tv. Shortly after my asthma attack kicked in. I had only a smidging of my ventolin inhaler left which didn't really do anything. I think this time my attack got quite severe as I got quite bad chest pains as I struggled to breath. Eventually, it just started to clear and a couple of hours later I was fine. But, for the really bad chest and neck pains.
Avatar f tn Hi, welcome to the forum, your symptoms strongly suggestive of food allergy and subsequent gastro intestinal anaphylaxis and broncho constriction. In such cases diarrhea usually begin two to six hours after ingestion. Determination of the food you are allergic to, is one of the challenges which you need to pass through. The common existing food allergens are Peanut flour, peanut butter, powdered egg white, Powdered/fresh milk Soy milk, soy flour Wheat breads, flour etc.
Avatar n tn I used to see a good allergist out in California. His way of diagnosing asthma was to measure lung function twice. Once just the way you were and then again after giving a bronchodilator. Those with asthma had noticeably better results after a bronchodilator, even when they were not having noticeable symptoms. I highly recommend seeing an allergy and asthma specialist for testing if you suspect that you have asthma and it isn't being addressed properly.
Avatar f tn Hi, You need to definitely speak with your Dr before having the procedure done and then when you are there REMIND EVERY SINGLE PERSON you come in contact with about your latex allergy. I don't know about the dye used but ask and ask again and double and triple ask and even if they all say it's ok, see if your Dr will prescribe a steroid to be given before the procedure if any type of dye is used...they did this with my daughter who is anaphylactic to latex, yet is ok with shellfish ...
Avatar f tn Hi, Yes you could be experiencing re-actions to an unknown allergens.Fresh coats of paint can trigger off allergic re-actions. Are you in contact with either on a day-to-day basis? As in an occupation or living in close proximity-in the vicinity of some-thing associated with either? First, the bad news: For many people, allergy season has become a year-round stint, according to the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology (AAAAI). But there's good news too.
Avatar f tn I am on 2 kinds of asthma medication. Pulmicort inhaler twice a day, morning and night and a Bricanol inhaler as needed. One idea, perhaps, is to make an appointment with your family doctor and review your asthma medicaiton. Just an idea. You could mention that you're coughing and wheezing etc. Perhaps your famlly doctor could give you a referral to an allergist. Based on what you've mentioned in your comments, I'm wondering if you're allergic to something in the environment.
Avatar n tn A number a years ago the connection between NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs - aspirin, ibuprofin, Aleve, naproxin...) and increased asthma risk was made public. I had mild asthma attacks at the time with ibuprofin and stopped taking them. Within the last year, reports started coming out that Tylenol (acetaminophen) can also trigger asthma attacks. Honestly, you are not alone.

Avatar f tn Last night I used the allergy medication and the inhealed steriod, and felt better this morning. When I can afford to, I will go see an ENT. Hava, that is interesting, I will try that as well. My asthma is related to allergies mostly, I am not sure if that will work as well for me...but will give it a shot.
Avatar m tn Called my doctor for advise, he sends me to the Emergency room saying that these are sympoms of stroke. Have asthma and know that in the hospital I will be staffed with more cortizone type medicine. Should not there be some remedy for relieving symptoms? Definitely I have allergy, feel synus. Why the only recommendation are steroids?
Avatar n tn this sounds more like anxiety than asthma to me, i suffer with both and sometimes its hard to tell, when im having a panic attack my chest feels awful, but with a panic attack the shortness of breath/chest pain goes within 5 minutes.
