1356839 tn?1277282040 I have allergies to wheat, corn, soy, potatoes, peanuts, tree nuts and tomatoes. My symptoms were weight gain, inflammation, dry eyes, itching during exercise, asthma, swollen hands and ankles, headaches and itchy mouth. I think they vary quite a bit from person to person. I also get extreme hunger pains when I start to eat something I am allergic to if I start with an empty stomach.
Avatar n tn I, too have been fighting the midlife bulge! I started suffering with literally uncontrollable weight gain, right about the time I was diagnosed with Fibro/CFS. I'm not too sure if there is any medical evidence that it is related, but I gotta blame this on something? LOL I would recommend that you see a Nutritionist to see if there is something different you can do with your diet.
2038601 tn?1333407618 and help with what to eat that will help me loose some weight. My food intake can be quite boring because of my allergies and was just wondering if anyone has any suggestions or is dealing with the same thing? Thanks.

20801560 tn?1512718136 Oh, I do know that food allergies can cause weight gain in certain people, especially if it is wheat. Allergies are hard to detect at times and can be hard to control.
Avatar n tn under weight for his age (just under the 10th percentile weight for age) and his height is normal for his age. You can make him milkshakes with Soy milk (has no milk products in it) and frozen fruit which has extra calories and protein. Soy products are a good substitute. Thank you for your question.
Avatar n tn ), and also to test for food allergies. Particularly, wheat allergies can cause huge weight gain and headaches, along with other possible symptoms. Check out these two websites for more info about this possibility: http://www.wheat-free.org/wheat-allergy.html http://www.springboard4health.com/notebook/health_food_addiction.html I happen to have a brother-in-law with wheat allergy. 724724 tn?1231202010 My weight hovers between 95 and 100 pounds, and I would like to gain at least five more pounds. Most of the weight I gain goes into my stomach, thighs, and butt leaving my arms thin. I have a very fast metabolism and have a lot of food allergies. I have trouble keeping my weight up, and would like to know if there is a special diet I can go on to help gain five pounds and keep my weight up. Keeping in mind I'm only five feet tall so 105 should be a heathy weight.
Avatar f tn ll, I am a 26 year old female who a year ago started getting horrible facial acne but only on the cheeks and in the past year has experienced a unexplained 10 pound weight gain with no changes to her diet. I do work out more then I used to but the weight gain is all in the stomach and uneffected with exercise or diet. A year later doctors tell me " I'm 26 my metabolism has slowed down. " and that was my PCP, gynecologist, and a gastro doctor.
Avatar n tn I've had alot of the same symptoms for the past 2 years. With as bad as I was feeling I was sure the doctor would be able to find out what was going wrong and I would be back to myself in no time! Instead I've been diagnosed with anxiety, depression, cfs. Which is all ********. I was about to give up, but decided to get my medical record from a recent hospital visit.. While I was in the hospital the doctors said it was anxiety as usual and they just blew me off.

Avatar m tn You can make milkshakes with rice milk and frozen fruit to help him gain weight and have a calcium source. Dark leafy green vegetables are another good source of iron and calcium. Recommend a chewable children’s multi-vitamin to be given daily; and to see a Pediatric Registered Dietitian who can sit and talk to you about different foods he can eat, and do menu/meal planning with you. This will help you not be so challenged and have some less stress. Hoped I was able to help you.
Avatar n tn Hello, This gain in weight is a side effect of the corticosteroid Beclazone that he is taking.Weight gain and central obesity are side effects of steroids.I would suggest you to consult your son’s doctor and shift to inhaled steroids rather than oral steroids. Avatar f tn When I say suddenly I mean 2 months ago. I had a burrito and the next week had hives around my eyes. I've been on prednisone on and off for the past 2 months. As far as weight loss goes, I'm 5'3" and down to 102lbs. I need to gain weight if anything. I've been on a strict diet and still having problems - that's why I'm so concerned.
Avatar m tn My two years old baby started vomiting and having diarrheas when she was one month and a half, since then, developed lung problems, a week condition and multiple food allergies. Avatar f tn my baby shih was on steroids asnd its not a good med it makes them gain lotsa weight mine ended up being 40 pds and that so not normal for a shih tzu, it cause hes heart to enlarge to, he took the pills and shots . shots are worse no taking it out of their systems if need to. it caused him lots problem, i had to put him to sleep because of his enlarged heart and he could not breath.
899491 tn?1243773627 Yes that's good news but of concern since it affected you to the point where it caused weight loss but glad it worked out alright. I'd suggest you have your doctor write a note that you are allergic to Lamictal and cannot take it in case you go to another doctor or clinic or hospital since they often ask that. Its not a big deal but they would know that's one mood stabilizer that could not be used. Just a practical suggestion.
388842 tn?1221748498 She has poor weight gain and is simply miserable most of the time. Is it possible that the blood test for food allergies or gluten allergy could be wrong? Is there any other tests that might help figure out what is going on?
701252 tn?1234375689 I fear going on steroids and other meds will cause me to gain weight. I know MS is horrible, but I also fear the weight gain some people experience. When I went from a size 14 to a 6, I swore I would never get that large again (all my weight was upper body). It not only about looks, but I was sluggish, uncomfortable and had no energy. Am I crazy for feeling this way? Can anyone else relate? All of this makes me feel like I have no control over my life and body.
