290867 tn?1333569278 Also for future refrence since my son is on Prosobee Lipil. Is that going to change how to mix the cereal. I know you use the formula to mix the rice cereal with so I dont think it will change the preperation of it...
Avatar f tn So around 4 months I add rice cereal to fruits? How do I mix it??
964234 tn?1331949207 So, with the help of my pediatrician we decided to start Franky on rice cereal at 4 months old. She said he was ready at his last appointment, but to wait until the week of his 4 month birthday. So, we gave it a try last night and he loved it. Took to it very well and gobbled up the tablespoon we offered him. He ate that at dinner time with us, and resumed to have his normal bottle after his bath before bed.
467126 tn?1283144858 i would start with just one to two spoonfuls of rice cereal a day to see how her tummy reacts to it and if she seems ok you can increase the amount little by little and if she is okay with that.. add a couple teaspoons of veggie or fruits... the decision is yours... you are her mommy .. so its up to you to do what you think is best for your child. my daughter has done everything early has far as solids.. she had rice cereal at 2 weeks old.. and yes it was in a bottle...
Avatar f tn I was just wondering because i am a first time mom and as you all know when ur a first time mom u talk to other moms that has had a few kids and they give advice and sometimes u take it well in that case thats me i took the advice i started it when my baby was 2 or 3 weeks old also i didnt know babies can only have it at 4 to 6 months so i freaked when i googled it all and it said all that so to the point my son was doing so good on the rice cereal and after reading all that and taking him off t
349463 tn?1333571576 The point of starting rice cereal/baby food is not for the daily intake. It is to help them learn how to take the food and swallow it. I don't think that because I am starting my son on cereal or "food" that he is going to be overweight. My son was sleeping well long before I started rice cereal. I think that starting them eating healthy early is a key to keeping children from being "overweight".
467126 tn?1283144858 He has bad reflux, so his pediatrician recommended doing this. It has helped tremendously! We were advised to add 1 tablespoon of rice cereal to every four ounces of formula in his bottle. I see many people say not until 6 months..Everyone I know with children, introduced rice cereal at 4 months. We had to do it at 2 months b.c of reflux issues, but it is always best to consult your pediatrician! Good luck!
688845 tn?1325182236 My daughter did not like rice cereal so I never did feed it to her. I went to oat meal instead. At 9 months old she eats oat meal and 2 oz of fruit for breakfast then whatever I'm having for lunch and dinner. She's got 10 teeth so she went to table food pretty early. It's great that you want to start learning now but it will definitely be a try and see kind of thing.
Avatar f tn So husband and I are really contemplating adding rice cereal to his last bottle before we go to bed. Just enough to get him to maybe drop 1 night feeding and be fully hungry at the next. What are some of your thoughts. I know they say 3 months or older but this whole waking up just to feed 1.5 ounces every 2 hours is super annoying. And we're wasting a lot of formula.

341551 tn?1266980730 My son is 15 weeks old and we're thinking of adding Rice Cereal to a couple of his bottles. I was just wondering which brands of rice cereal you moms have tried and liked. Any you recommend?
383536 tn?1225030613 when you start feeding yor baby rice cereal how often are you supposed to?
Avatar f tn He is getting to be a big boy. He was more than ready for the rice cereal. He only cried for a minute and that was it.
Avatar f tn I agree with aleahfleming. My sons pediatrician said to start giving him a spoonful of rice cereal everyday mixed with his formula. A day or two after he became constipated, cheeks were flushed, and he began getting dry patches on his upper arms. Not trying to scare you since every baby is different but when I did some searching, i came across an article that says babies really cant digest certain starches until 2 years old and that only pureed fruits/veggoes should be given at 6 months.
341551 tn?1266980730 I do 1 oz of rice cereal and also give her about 1-2 oz's of baby food. We've done sweet potatos and just started peas. We feed Mikayla the rice cereal though. I read somewhere that it isn't good to put the cereal in the bottle because then they may not want to eat it by spoon (because they are used to it in the bottle). I've never put it in her bottle so I really don't know how true that is.
Avatar f tn Do not replace any formula right now. There is no nutritional value to cereal, it's just for taste and texture and to get her used to eating solids. So you don't want to replace anything just yet. Start out with cereal in the morning only once a day. After the few weeks have passed add in a veggie but make sure you only try one veggie once a week. For allergies.
400885 tn?1297698918 Times have changed (I guess), and they now are recommending 4-6 months to start cereal, and to avoid putting it in the bottle. My daughter tried spoon feeding my granddaughter rice cereal at 4 months, but she got very colicky. She stopped for a few weeks and tried again around 5 months, using oatmeal instead of rice cereal. She did very well, but lately, she isn't eating very good (she is 7 1/2 months and has had diarrhea, so that could be contributing).
Avatar f tn she just had her 4 month immunizations about a week ago and we started her on rice cereal a week ago. I am calling her doctor first thing in the morning. Any suggestions on what this could be before I call?
364288 tn?1300144506 I also started a little before 6 months but not with rice cereal. It is not essential that rice cereal is the first 'food' for babies, but it is preferred because you can make the texture of it runny. Do you still breastfeed? If you do, mix the rice cereal with some expressed breast milk. That usually works with most breastfed babies. I tried Medina with pureed carrot and now she is eating carrot, white potato, zucchini (courgette), pumpkin, banana and apple.
Avatar f tn I was told NEVER to give them the cereal in the bottle and also that you should ask the dr. what and how to go about introducing. I am going for his 4 month appt on Tues although he is 41/2 months now and once we get to our new house in Montana I plan to start him on food if they give us the ok. BTW, your son is bigger than mine so he probably would love to try some new food! Good luck!
443968 tn?1288612689 OK - my ped said the same thing as Sasha's. Anywhere between 4 and 6 months is good to start solids. He said just follow your LOs cues. Cash just spit it out the first time, the second time was better, and by the third time he was eating like a champ! I started him bc he seemed hungry all the time and after 3 hours between bottles it would sound like his milk was hitting a hollow hole but he still wasn't wanting to take anymore than 6 oz at a time.
Avatar f tn / I have heard of moms adding 1tsp of rice cereal to their bottles at night and it helping immensely with acid reflux and puking/spitting up. I'm a FTM so I am unsure and iffy on what to do! I only want what's best for my princess. Have any of you mommies tried it?? I'm looking for any advice!
Avatar f tn **Posted this in Preg 18-34 also** So daughter is now 4 months and weighs 16 1/2 lbs (crazy!), so the doctor said we can start her on rice cereal. We gave it to her for the first time last night. It was really runny (as we were instrcuted to do at first). We bought the gerber soft tip spoons for beginners (in feeding), so they are small. Well she ate about 10-15 spoonfuls of it (I was having fun with it, LOL, because she was eating it!) which I made a lot more.
1123420 tn?1350561158 The soonest you should start cereal, like rice cereal, mixed with formula or breast milk is 4 months. Many doctors recommend waiting til 6 months. I usually try around 4 months, then if baby isn't really interested or keeps spitting it out, I wait a week or so then try again. As far as jar food, I start level 1 around 5-6 months, level 2 around 7-8 months, and level 3 around 9-10 months.
Avatar f tn Its recommended that babies start cereal around 4-6 months of age. It isn't recommended that it be added to bottles unless directed by your child's doctor.
470885 tn?1326329037 Rice cereal tastes like wallpaper paste. Try oatmeal. Good luck!
448723 tn?1301454958 re eating, its the best time to introduce solids. Myra has been eating some cereal (rice) and I started to give her bananas. She's just 3 months this past Saturday.
Avatar f tn Dr told us to start the cereal at 2 months we did shell be 4 months soon and she eats every 3-4 hrs and today she ate 9 oz
159063 tn?1247272817 It's hard to say. She has both cold and allergy symptoms going on. Is she experiencing any fever, rash, or wheezing?
