Common Questions and Answers about Allergies symptoms clogged ears

allergies

I have been experiencing ear pain and pressure since Feb. 07...Went to my regular MD several times he had given me antibiotic at least twice.... I can tolerate the pain most of the time, but it's the dizziness and the off balance thing that bugs me the most...I do have a very stressful job, then after work I have to be a mom and wife...So I don't have time for this...I went to ENT Doc. who after several test tells me I have enlarged turbinates....
Hi i have these symptoms too......for about 8 months now. My ears are clogged the most time and i feel vertigo/dizzy.
About 15 days ago, I got really lightheaded(I'm dizzy but nothing is moving, It feels like I'm moving) and my ears felt full/clogged. I thought maybe it was allergies, so I started taking Claritin. The lightheadedness when away after a couple of days but my ears still felt full/clogged. And now I'm starting to get lightheaded again. Maybe it's not allergies? Maybe the medicine isn't strong enough? The first time I got dizzy/lightheaded was in late November 2010.
Just the ears clogging every morning, i've had my ears checked multiple times and there is no infection or blockage, just woondering if you can link this anywhere with the meds. Thanks so much again.
Both of my ears are feeling clogged for last 10 days.. I didn;t get sick or didn;t have a cold or congestion. Also no allergies. I had a minor fluid drain from my ear prior to my ear clog. First the cloggness was in my right ear then it passed on to my left as well. I went to an ENT and both of my ears are clean and also passed my hearing test. Also when i play music, i hear very loud vibrations which unables me to listen to music with to much bass. please help. any suggestions?
I'm 41 - been dealing with my Right ear feeling 'clogged' now for over 3 years. I have had tubes put in (2 years ago) for 2 weeks...did nothing. The ENT looks, and says my ear is "clear" - Says could be eustacian tube disorder, etc. Finally, after bouts with Bronchitus and sinus issues over Nov and Dec, went back to my Primary - he referred me to another ENT.
Do you have any symptoms of a cold or do you have allergies? Have you had this before? Are your eustacian tubes clogged? Have you tried a decongestant?
The doctor also noted that I have fluid in my ears. I was given nasal spray and sent home. Nasal spray did nothing to correct the dizzy off balance feeling. This year I went back to the doctor and I was told that I have fluid in both ears, the left ear having more and it is whitish and bubbly. What is going on? Is the polyp causing fluid buildup?
I have been dealing with these same ear symptoms for most of the past year. I have been to an ENT and had my ears irrigated. I have done the vinegar drops and the hair dryer into the ear. Nothing has given me more than very temporary relief. I just stumbled across this site that looks to have a potential diagnosis/solution. (www.hillderm.com/skin-disease-treatments/itchy-ears.shtml) They call it Chronic Eczematous External Otitis and recommend prescription ear drops called DermOtic Oil.
I have been suffering from the same problem for over a year, both ears clogged I can barely hear anything and it is literally driving me insane and making me depressed, I have been to the Docs but it is always the same old B.S. they look fine try this, FU PAY ME. Its hard to find a good Doc these days, its all about selling that next script. Anyways I am desperately looking for a solution to this problem because I can not take it anymore, I will post anything I can come up with that works.
wow i have almost the same symptoms as you my ears always feel clogged so i always blow out and pop them and have congestion but now i developed insomnia im always aware of my heart beat all over my body depression and anxiety i dont know what it is but im sick of it
Hi I've had blocked ears for just over 4 weeks now getting this horrible buzzing sound and I wake up with a lot of mucus I'm just terrified that my ears will never unblock! It all started when I had slightly clogged up ears a month ago and has just got worse! I do hear crackling when blowing my nose I have been on antibiotics and some spray for your ears nothing has helped. Have been referred to a ENT doctor any suggestions ?
Also keep in my that if you use ear buds to listen to music or take phone calls the vibrations from the ear buds or ever BlueTooth ause the ear wax to turn to liquid thus, making your ears clogged and giving the clicking sund when you swollow. As for the Clicking in your jaw, this may be caused by a swollen gland in your neck. a CT scan can find most problems, so give that a try. But they are expensive to think it through before taking the route.
These usually happen when my head is stuffed, my ears feel clogged, and i have aching in my neck. The vertigo spells are horrible; i feel like i am falling to one side, or im spinning. I am seeing an ENT DR, who ordered a CT scan and found a little fluid in my ear; put me on an antibiotic, but im still getting the stuffy ears w/ dizziness. I am going to a specialist for balance testing also on july 7. This has just been horrible... I cant seem to get any answers or relief!
I also have symptoms of ear infection including occasional pain, clogged ears and popping
I had just switched allergy medications, from Nasonex to generic Flonase, right at the time my symptoms returned. Could allergies have led to a sinus infection? Can the sinus infection cause dizziness and fatigue? Due to the holiday weekend I haven't been able to call my doctor, but after 3 prior visits he's never suggested sinuses to be a cause.
I can hear my pulse in my ears, im feeling kinda dizzy and it feel like i need to POP my ears really bad but doesnt work. the wooshing pulse sound i hear really only happens when i first get up in the morning. The dizzy feeling seems to be all day long which has made my neck very tenced. I did go to a little clinic down the street because my dr is out of town.
I've had eczema in my ears for 15 yrs. It is very cyclical, starting w/intense uncontrollable itching, then clear fluid leaking from skin, followed by crusting over & flaking of skin in ears that is itchy in & of itself, leading to more scratching & picking at ears. The skin in my ears gets very damaged and ratty during outbreaks. I also have swelling of the ear canal after these itch/scratch episodes that are sometimes quite painful, & Motrin helps that. ENT Dr.
Basically ive had numerous pressure and popping sensations with the ears, every day for 5 years. Ive had symptoms of ear pressure, ears feel like they open up when i yourn or shout loudly, popping continuously all day when i swallow or eat/drink and a strange feeling around the jaw area that feels like i need to pop my ears. However, when i pop then, with in three seconds, they feel like they need popping again.
Did you feel fluid in your ears too along with fluid on the side of your face under your ears? I have most of your symptoms except headaches and pain in the ear. I think mine is tied to allergies which produces a thicker mucus in the middle ear making it harder to drain out the eustacian tubes.
i do have allergies to mold, dust, milk products, and corn products. my allergy doc says my symptoms are all from allergies, but i have been trying everything 2 avoid the allergens, been getting allergy shots, tried numerous allergy medications, with no help from anything! does anyone else experience this type of thing? i seriously feel like i am getting so depressed. i cant hardly function, let alone enjoy anything. i suffer every single day.
well a year ago that all changed........... A little back ground on my symptoms..... I have spent the past year of my life struggling with anxiety and the fear that I am ill or have a serious condition and it goes one to the next. It all started when I had an exhausting weekend last October and was drinking pretty heavily and not sleeping enough. I woke up for work on monday morning at 4 am and felt terrible, dizzy, sweaty, terrible headaches, blurry vision and brain fog.
They help a bit but I'm still getting almost constant asthma symptoms (on max dose of advair), nausea, coughing and clogged nose/ears after eating and bloating. The only thing that works is not eating, doesn't matter if I stay away from the foods that are bad for GERD, any food seems to give me symptoms. And I should be increasing my food intake because I've lost 4 pounds in the last 3 weeks and only 90ib to begin with. Any tips?
Ive done lots of resaerch that tells me my symptoms are a middle ear infection, with canal irritation and inflamation like that of swimmers ear, but touching the outside,(tag) of my ear doesnt hurt one bit, which does not fit the symptoms of swimmers ear, and I never have had allergies, or cold/ virus symptoms any time before the onset of the ear pain, so that doesnt fit the description of a middle ear infection.
I have had clogged ears since I was 7. Been dizzy since 18 ( like walking on a trampoline) For the last 10 years ( I am now 43) I have had frequent ear aches and get very off balance and fall against the wall as I walk thru the house. I don't realize I am falling until I hit the wall. Could be MdDS which there is no known cure for. http://www.mdds.org.uk/ My bp is good, as is my blood sugar and my ears are "perfect" according to all doctors I have been too.
My glands have been a little sore at times. My throat has been sore and one of my ears have been a little clogged (popping at times). My nose is a little stuffed and there is brownish snot/mucus coming out. I was tested for strep and an ear infection and do not have either. I have not really been nauseous, but all of a sudden, I threw up the other night and have been slightly nauseous since (sometimes preventing me from eating and sometimes after eating).
My ears have been clogged up for over 6 months. My GP found them to be full of fluid and prescribed me with antibiotics and Prednisone. When I went back two weeks later he told me they were better but still "dirty". They continue to be clogged and sometimes open. I just went to an ENT who told me there was nothing wrong with my ears. However, he also told me he didn't think there ever was anything wrong with my ears.
In addition, I have sinus problems and both ears feel clogged. I have had blood work done, CAT of the head and chest xray. These all came back normal. I have been to my Neurolist who has scheduled me for a nerve test. He thinks I have a pinched nerve somewhere. Can a pinched nerve cause all of these sensations? I am really concerned about MS! Please help!! My axiety level is high! Thanks.
You were not specific on the symptoms you experience, but my guess is that when you exercise you don't drink water, or you sweat to excess. This will dehydrate you and you will lose salt and other minerals. You can experience shaking of the hands, visual disturbances, headaches, stomach aches, stitches in the sides, exhaustion, low grade temps and other unpleasant symptoms. If this is the case, try drinking a fluid that has minerals in it like Cytomax.
Hi, This is my first post. I am an otherwise healthy 32 year old male, but frustrated by this recent baffling problem. For the last 2-3 weeks, I've had mild sinus congestion & pressure, along with strange "flu-like" body aches, weakness & fatigue. I have no fever or night sweats, and nasal mucous is clear. I do get a lot of allergies, but never these "flu-like" symptoms.
