Common Questions and Answers about Allergies or sinus infection

allergies

Avatar f tn I feel like I have the typical diagnosable sinus infection. However, after being told about my MRI scan is this probably just allergies or maybe a real sinus infection? I am ready to rip my head off. Nothing over the counter helps. I've been taking zyrtec, benadryl, and ibuprophen for the pain. Lastly, my Husband, went to an urgent care about 5 days ago and was told he had a sinus infection. My symptoms started a day or two later.
Avatar f tn Hello, everyone! Two days ago, I had a TERRIBLE sore throat. Went to the doctor to get swabbed, did not come back for strep. No fever, but I felt sweaty at night (I think it was due to bad dreams LOL). Accompanied by a pounding headache. The next day, I woke up congested with a runny nose, I coughed up some green phlegm and felt fine the rest of the day. Now, I'm sneezing a bit with clear mucus and it doesn't feel like a cold at all.
2110469 tn?1335291083 These sinuses drain secrections from our nasal passages and if, for some reason, they become blocked due to fluids or sometimes polyps, we get a nasty sinus infection. Sinus infections are not fun and they CAN be painful. Sinus headaches are common as is pain upon bending forward which increases the pressure, they make it very difficult to breath and can put pressure on/around/near our eyes, Altogether a miserable condition.
Avatar m tn t had bad allergies yet this spring. So would you say allergies caused this? STD? Or did I possibly catch a sinus infection from her? Its just too much of a coincidence I got all this a day after the sex, even though it seems like just a sinus infection.
Avatar n tn   It seems to me that this is acting more like an infection than asthma or allergies, and that allergens irritate what is inflamed from an infection.   It's as if I have a respiratory infection, but I can never get enough antibiotics or the right one to cure it. I only get enough to heal it partially. Yes, I've had a CT scan of my sinuses--normal.  And, a chest x-ray six years ago, and the allergist a couple of weeks ago thought that it was sufficient because it was clear then.
Avatar m tn My dry mouth seems worse and i looked at my nose with a flashlight and my sinus look really inflammed, could this all be because of a sinus infection? And what can i do? Im going to go to the doctors again on monday but id like to go in ready. Im only 17 someone please help me.
Avatar f tn Hello, Yes sinus infection can cause fever but clogging of sinuses due to allergies is less likely to cause any fever until and unless it is accompanied by an infection which may be viral or bacterial in nature. It can also be due to chronic sinusitis. Chronic sinusitis can be caused by infections of the upper respiratory tract, allergies and deviated nasal septum .Other suspected causes include mold or fungi in the sinuses.
Avatar m tn I get at least one horrid sinus infection every year and I ususally have to take 3 courses of antibiotics. My EENT does not recommend sinus sprays as they tend to have a rebound effect. In other words, the more you use them, the WORSE they make the problem! I have proven it to myself a number of times. He now recommends using a Neti Pot and it's been a Godsend as far as I'm concerned.
Avatar f tn I've been dealing with what I thought was a sinus infection for the past week. Today was the first day I had relief from unrelenting facial pain without the need of painkillers. I was blowing out of lot of bloody mucus throughout the week, and today I blew out something from my nose that had the same feel of latex skin (link to a picture of it is provided below).
Avatar n tn I keep getting dizzy and headaches and fatigue. All the time though. I had a doctor treat me for sinus infection but it never stopped the symptoms. He checked me again and i didn't have an infection but i felt like it for months. What do you think it is?
Avatar f tn It sure sounds like a sinus infection. Is the mucus coming out colored or sticky in any way? Does it drip down the back of your throat and you can kind of taste it? I'd say because of the tooth pain too it's a sinus infection. You could try saline to help rinse out your nasal passages or go to your doctor. They might give you a Z-pack or some other antibiotic if they suspect bacterial infection.
Avatar m tn Any Ideas on what it might be? Sinus infection? post nasal drip? (I have allergies), peritonsillar infection or something else?
536455 tn?1213538065 s good to hear. Acute coughs usually begin suddenly and are often due to a cold, flu, or sinus infection. Coughs from a lung infection such as bronchitis can start out suddenly and then linger on. Other common causes of chronic or ongoing coughs include asthma, allergies chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, sinusitis leading to postnasal drip, smoking cigarettes or exposure to secondhand smoke or pollutants. Take care and regards.
Avatar m tn At the end of November of 2012 I started developing what I thought was a sinus issue that I get due to allergies 3 or 4 times a year. Symptoms have persisted off and on now for over three months.
Avatar f tn Do you have pain when you tap your face in those areas above and below eyes? The jaw pain could be due to teeth clenching awake or during sleep. Dry blood could be allergies or dried mucus membarnes so drink plenty of fluids or get saline nasal spray OTC at pharmacy. Wouldn't worry about thrombosis at this point. Take care- the rest sounds like typical axiety stuff--dizziness and tight muscles. Don't worry but get it checked out.
Avatar n tn My previous sinus infections symptoms always included nasal congestion which I am not experiencing at all. Debating a trip to dr. or popping sinus headache medicine.
