Common Questions and Answers about Allergies in only one eye

allergies

Avatar f tn Does anyone know if it is uncommon to have only ONE food allergy and no environmental allergies and no family history of food allergies? My daughter reacted to eggs by intense vomiting. Positive skin test. No other reactions ever again, but has a lot of gastro problems. Her allergist said it was odd that she had no other allergies, but didn't know what to test for since she doesn't react to other food....
Avatar m tn I was in a situation similar to yours. I developed a cataract in one eye only following retinal surgery. My Blue Cross paid for my cataract surgery for BOTH eyes, and this option worked out very well for me. Glasses will not work for you after you get your first eye done, and an ICL is very problem-prone. Your options for your left eye would be full-time contact lens wear, LASIK, or early cataract surgery.
Avatar m tn But I have not seen anyone relate that it occurs with only one eye. While driving at night I see a halo around lights in my right eye, but not my left. I have recently had pressure tests and glaucoma tests. No problems show up. What could cause this?
Avatar f tn My question is will a multifocal lenses function okay in only one eye? Will my cataract free eye have any problems working with it besides the standard neuroadaption that needs to happen with the implanted eye? I have looked through the archives but am having a hard time finding any posts with people who have had a catract in only one eye. Thanks for the help, advice.
Avatar f tn My question is will a multifocal lenses function okay in only one eye? Will my cataract free eye have any problems working with it besides the standard neuroadaption that needs to happen with the implanted eye? I should mention that my current contact prescription for my left is -7.50, so after the cataract surgery I will still be wearing contacts in my left eye. My right eye's current perscription is -6.50.
Avatar n tn For the past 2 days my left eye has been insanely itchy! It's not bloodshot, there's not gunk in it or anything, and no pain, just itchy as hell. My other eye is completely fine - no itching or anything. I do wear contacts but haven't changed anything with them in terms of brand or anything. Initially I thought it was the contact so I put a fresh pair in this morning but still my eye is still so itchy. If I itch it like I want to then it gets really swollen and even bruised a little.
Avatar f tn Thanks for the info. I will try to look for it. Did it alleviate the red from your dry eyes? If you get a chance see if you can get the name.... Happy New Year!
Avatar f tn Has anyone had a stubborn eyelid swelling in one eye for this long due to allergy? I do have crusting in my eye in the morning (very slight) but no discharge (only watery glob on my eye that can be blinked away and slight blurriness on that eye). thanks so much for your help.
Avatar f tn I was in the same position as you -- the cataract in my left eye was much more developed than in my right, where one was just beginning. I had my right eye done very soon after my left, mainly because I don't tolerate contacts well and I knew it would need to be done eventually anyway. I don't know of any reason you can't do the same. The time for cataract surgery is somthing you have control over -- you don't necessarily have to wait until the cataract "matures".
529075 tn?1213460050 It was my daily cleaner until one day I had a severe reaction and ended up in the ER for several hours. My work uses it but only in certain areas that I Normally don’t go in. Today I went into one without thinking and without a mask. It was almost instantly a hard cough that wouldn’t stop. My skin is still itching several hours later. I really want to know what causes this. It happens with Fabulosa also.
Avatar f tn Clearly I have anxiety so it’s immediately eye cancer or a brain tumor. Eye visit in a few weeks. Any ideas ? It doesn’t look like anything is wrong. I thought allergies.
Avatar f tn I have an eye allergy that started several years ago, after I had pneumonia. My heating/air system at home and in the car irritates my eyes. When the air blows in my face it irritates the veins/blood vessel around my eyes, they get puff and swollen that causes the pressure in my eyes to go up. I'm using four different eye drops provided by my doctor. I only have close-up vision in my left eye and I'm worried that I may soon lose site in my right eye.
Avatar m tn An allergist or eye doctor can prescribe eye drops for allergies.
Avatar n tn I'm a contact lenses user. Last night I went out to some places with lots of smoke and etc so I would expect some eye redness in the morning. And in fact I noticed it but no pain or stinky eyes when waking up. However I have this impression in my right eye that when I close it or blink it It hurts me like It's something in the eyelid hurting my eye. I looked in the eye and in the eyelid for some dust or object that could be causing that , but I didn't found any.
Avatar n tn I would love to have some information about having a multifocal lens in only one eye. I do not have a cataract at all in the other eye and have 20/20 vision in that eye as well. Please let me know lso what problems people are experiencing with the multfocal lenses. Thanks much This discussion is related to <a href='/posts/show/977847'>cataract extraction & multifocal lens insertion</a>.
Avatar f tn I followed the directions, the problem subsided, and after several weeks came back, again on the left only. In the meantime, I stayed away from any eye creams and only used Cetaphil or nothing at all. And it's been like this, off an on all the time. I did not use any eye make up at the time. Several months ago I started using make up again, had no problems, and then out of the blue, again, my left eyelid got swollen, then red, then itchy and then scaley.
Avatar f tn I've never had bad allergies before. In fact I would only sneeze once in a blue moon. But for a few weeks now my eyes have been itching so bad and I would itch them to the point that I've already had two infections of my eyelid on the left side.It would swell my eyelid almost till my eye was shut. I have a pretty bad history of staph infections. Also the roof of my mouth has been itching and when it starts to itch it will get these hard lumps on one side at a time.
Avatar f tn Zyrtec is the safest and one of the most effective allergy meds - deals with more allergens than claritin I use the zyrtec eye drops (i've only had itchy eyes lately) and Sinus Rinse - clears and prevents congestion. It took me a long time to get over the idea of squirting water up my nose, but it is totally worth it.
Avatar m tn I recenlty did this and noticed the next day my left eye felt swollen and sore. Can dust get in your eyes and cause inflamation. My eye is not eye or itcy.
Avatar m tn The options for you are set one eye at -2.50, set at zero and use a contact lens in the other eye or do a refractive lens exchange in the other eye after cataract surgery in the first eye. Dr. O.
