allergies

Avatar m tn Does anyone know how they test a six year old for allergies. My kids is constantly suffering from what I thought was colds but now I want to see if it is Allergies/Bronchitus/Asthma?
15695260 tn?1549593113 Doctors report that there is a September Spike in asthma and allergies as kids go back to school. This is partly due to the Fall increase in allergies but also, kids are exposed to allergens in the classroom, playing fields, playgrounds and cafeteria that they weren't exposed to all summer. If your child is prone to asthma and allergies, doctors recommend you visit them in August to come up with a proactive plan of action to help.
Avatar f tn ) during both of my previous pregnancies and neither of my kids have food allergies of any sort (well my son reacts a little to the acid in tomatoes and citric fruits but..clearly not peanuts, lol). so eat away...like Petite said, they're GREAT for you!!!
Avatar f tn Also seemed to develop severe hayfever in the same year having never had it before so, yes you can get allergies later in life although, I have never heard of this from anyone else except mum
Avatar m tn I just found a dead cockroach in a suitcase that has been closed for about a month... or even two... Is it safe for my kids to wear the clothes that stayed there for so long? I'm washing them now but don't know if I should throw stuff away or clean our clothes with any particular products before having my kids wear them. Any advice?
Avatar n tn hi...I feel for you....I went through this ...made some good decisions ,some bad........the bad one was 12 years of hell academically....although had friends and had sports or vise versa...played sports and made lots of friends through them. But hated school. If I could do it again ...would of home schooled him. Think it is good advise to homeschool him for a while until he builds his self esteem and confidence. You can try public school at a later date. He is in college now ...
Avatar f tn I think allergies are for the most part genetic. I was born right on time and have hayfever like my mum, my cousin was overdue and has loads of allergies, her mum (my auntie) is allergic to cats....so far my kids have not shown any signs of allergies (7 & 5) but they have both been brought up with cats and dogs and we live in the countryside so I think that helps desensitise.
Avatar n tn Most definately food allergies can come and go. It is very common actually for example for children with lactose intolerance allergies to actually get better ;and also vice versa for kids who weren't and then when they get into adulthood they become allergic to it. If you eat too much of one thing all the time your body can become intolerant of it and can cause an allergy. And finally yes, it is very possible to have a food allergy and not realize it until you have a reaction.
2075937 tn?1334884194 Its actually good for kids to be around animals, housemites and dirt there is research to suggest that it helps prevent allergies, and that the increase in allergies these days is because our houses are too clean so kids are not building a resistance...
Avatar n tn we have had no sleep in three months.. the drs say it is nothing -- allergies, or a sinus infection, and put us on zurteck and a z-pac.. but it has done nothing.. she has a severe history of upper respitory infections .. from 2 on, 2-3 almost died.. from it..we are at a loss! .. 173939 tn?1333217850 I get very nervous when I have a child with allergies. When we went to the commons area to eat, i watched as kids with sticky hands touched the garbage can, door knobs, sinks, etc... The oils from nuts can cause an airborne reaction. However, I suspect that the school would allow baked goods such as pancakes that have eggs in it. Otherwise, how could you even send bread?? Chances are, they don't want you sending hard boiled eggs or anything like that.
Avatar f tn I know your pain I have been hospitalized 3 times and to the er over 100 times because of allergies it got so bad at one point I was at the er 3 times in less than 2 days time before they admitted me. it may sound strange but have the doctor pull some labs and see if your white count is high and check for infections.
Avatar f tn Would it be harmful to him if there are soy products in the house? Namely products that might contain soy lecithin or soybean oil in the last few ingredients. Obviously these foods would not be given to him, but is it necessary to remove these items? We do not know what his exact reaction to soy is, in the past it was a few hives around the mouth. Peanuts are much worse. BTW - what is the definition of a soy-based product?
Avatar f tn A knowledge about aeroallergens present in your geographic location and the allergens in your home and work areas is essential in this process. There are many allergens present in your surroundings. Unless you stop further exposure or unless you take measures to minimize the exposure, medical therapy will be not enough.
Avatar n tn My 5 year old son keeps on throwing things at his classmates that result to hurting other kids. He is very competitive in school. He always wants to be the first in everything...first in arriving in school, first in finishing projects, first in brushing teeth after snack time, first in line,etc....The teacher says he does this because he is an only child and doesnt have any playmates at home, therefore he doesn't know how to interact with other kids and becomes competitive.
Avatar f tn Hi, My 4 yr old daughter started having headaches about 10 months ago very infrequently (maybe 1 or 2/ month) they only last 30 seconds - 90 seconds long but they are very painful for her. She grabs her head and screams and this comes at happy times - she doesn't have tantrums. Some of the times she's had this headache was during trick-or-treating and on the way to SeaWorld in Orlando. They are out of the blue and seem to always be behind her left ear.
Avatar f tn Yes, anyone at any age can have fibro - although it's not as commonly diagnosed in younger patients. I personally think the reason for that is that when a younger person has widespread pain and extreme fatigue, the doctors tend to chock it up to "being a teenager" or keeping strange hours, not eating right, etc. But the truth is, chronic pain from any reason does not have any age limits or gender limits.
Avatar m tn SOME TIMES I DO GET SEVERE PAIN WHERE IT KINDA TAKES MY BREATH AWAY, MAKES ME DIZZY,WITH SOME NUMBNESS IN MY IN MY LEFT ARM.I JUST HAD A BABY 3 1/2 MONTHS AGO, WHEN I TOLD MY DOCTOR HE SAID IT DOSENT SOUND LIKE ANYTHING I SHOULD WORRY ABOUT.IT IS PROBABLY JUST MY LUNGS AND HEART NOT BEING USED TO PRESURE FROM THE BABY.MY MOTHER AND GRANDMOTHER WAS BOTH DIAGNOSED WITH A MICRO VALVE PROLAPSE.AND WHEN I TOLD THEM WHAT I WAS FEELING THEY BOTH SAID IT SOUNDS LIKE WHAT THEY FELT.
Avatar m tn If it does, then this could be another possible allergic trigger - and a very common one in dogs that have allergies to other things. I would tend to research this some more before giving it, just in case.
172826 tn?1423422956 Is not hard to ban a fue items from school yes it may not seem fair and it may frustating to some parents who kids love certain foods but in the end every one is intitled to be safe. Why do you think kids get imunised not ALL kids get sick but some things are just not worth the risk. In australia kids are not allowed to eat carrots at school for the main reason that carrots are a chocking hazzard. It's a occupational health and safty risk to let children eat carrot's.
Avatar f tn The truth is, no one can say for sure. Peanut allergies are also on the rise in the little ones. Some kids do outgrow certain allergies, but this really does vary from individual to individual. For now, keep peanut products away from him and read labels and watch for warnings. There are labels warning of products that are not peanut products that say that they are made on the same equipment as where peanuts were processed. Be on the alert for this, depending on how severe his allergy is.
686794 tn?1273187820 The dallas/ft worth news did a write up on baby bath products that contain harmful chemicals that cause cancer and skin allergies. If you click on the link below, and then under the small video box on that page, there is a link that says 'read the report,' you will be able to view all of the products that they found to be harmful.
