Common Questions and Answers about Allergies in fall

allergies

746512 tn?1388807580 I used to get pretty bad hayfever in the fall/early winter (as well as the killer hay fever I still get in the spring). I honestly think my fall problems were caused by the trees- cedar, alderwood, and/or pine. The problem seemed to get worse if I went to into a forest and it completely disappeared after I moved to Australia. So whatever was causing my problem is back in the Washington State.
Avatar n tn Last fall and this fall I had the same symptoms that my doctor could not figure out. Namely, I got weaker and weaker every day until I was completely bed-ridden. This fall when it started i noticed I had bad post nasal drip, chest pains (tightness) and breathing difficulties and severe shortness of breath. Can allergies and or chronic sinus infections make a person so weak and fatigued that they can not function normally?
Avatar f tn would depend on what you are allergic too. Allergy to grass pollen would make you worse in the fall, ragweed I believe is in the summer months and dust mite allergies are all year round. I got told from my allergist that dust mites peak in june and it feels the worse come winter (october-november) when you start spending more time inside with the dust mite dander.
Avatar f tn Im 8 weeks and for the past 4 days ive had this tickle in my throat and my ears, plus my nose is very congested. Now in the beginning when i first found out i was pregnant i had a stuffy nose but i could still breathe at night now i feel like i maybe having a cold or allergies? Anybody else have/had these symptoms?
15695260 tn?1549593113 Doctors report that there is a September Spike in asthma and allergies as kids go back to school. This is partly due to the Fall increase in allergies but also, kids are exposed to allergens in the classroom, playing fields, playgrounds and cafeteria that they weren't exposed to all summer. If your child is prone to asthma and allergies, doctors recommend you visit them in August to come up with a proactive plan of action to help.
Avatar f tn I’m currently living in Connecticut where it’s allergy season and we’re in the midths of turning from summer to fall, whenever I breathe in I get achey/cold feeling in the mouth what is this a sign of??
Avatar n tn I took XYZal for 4 days for my Fall allergies. Once I stopped, I developed this maddening itching all over!!!! I went to my dermatologist who prescribed hydroxyzine capsules. The meds help somewhat....but also make me tired so I can only take at night!!! I have been suffering for FIVE weeks. Any idea when I can expect this reaction to end?? Or at least some tips on method of relief? PLEASE!!
Avatar m tn Sorry it is hard Brice! I have Fall season allergies but not Spring/summer ones. However, I'm really allergic to hay, various animals and other things we encounter in the summer. My eyes can become very itchy and swollen. Have you ever tried the allergy eye drops? They work pretty well. You can buy them over the counter or if it is really bad, your doctor should be able to prescribe a prescription strength. My younger son is on allergy medicine year round. Poor guy.
Avatar n tn Hi. I've never suffered from allergies before and I'm 19. From late November onward I started suffering from severly itchy eyes which turn red. Then over the course of the next weeks it would be accompanied with sneezing, itchy throat and runny nose. I know it can't be a cold because it comes and goes during the day and I've had it for almost 2 to 3 months now. Could I be suffering from seasonal allergies?
Avatar f tn Sounds like he does have asthma or perhaps COPD. My hubby has asthma/COPD and he is full of mucus all the time. Wheezing, coughing, etc. Your hubby could have asthma due to allergies if the meds are working. I would talk to a pharmacist, as they will be able to help you with the medication dilemma. As for "is this a dangerous illness?"...if it's allergies you need to find out what the trigger is...if it started in the summer, I would suspect pollens.
1083155 tn?1256261696 Weed pollen is the main cause of seasonal allergy in the late summer and early fall. In most areas, pollen is measured, counted, and identified. Your allergy specialist was able to identify the triggers/allergens responsible. And this is already a start in your treatment. These allergens are responsible in releasing chemicals in your body like histamine which triggers swelling and other allergic reactions.
Avatar f tn I have been symptomatic for a while, and in fall 2007, the right lobe of the thyroid was noted to be enlarged. I did have thyroid antibodies checekd (negative) and an US of the thyroid which just noted the difference in size of the lobes, but nothing really showed any significant problems. My general medical doctor put me on a low dose of levothyroxin (25 mcg) and I will say I feel 100 x better.
Avatar f tn My reactions to foods seem to fall in the description of a food sensitivity. But it disables me something awful, triggering anxiety and IBS attacks, spasm and fatigue.
Avatar f tn I had a bad fall in January off a wrought iron chair. I hit my pelvic bone (near vagina). I then flipped back onto my right hip. None of my pelvic organs are functioning correctly. How could I be normal one day then fall and be diaginosed with all kinds of problems. Not just IC but. IBS, acid reflux, anxiety, allergies, pelvic floor disorder, SIJD, disc buldge at 51, s1,2, and 3. vagina atrophy, vaginal irritation. I was tested for everything all normal.
Avatar m tn I just started acupuncture and NAET for my food allergies....so far so good! I don't think the allergies would pertain to thyroid removal....maybe someone else here has experienced that. I do know that my allergies became more frequent since I have had Hashimotos autoimmune disease. Did your wife test for thyroid autoimmune diseases? What was the reason for the thyroid removal....cancer?
Avatar m tn Then it turned consistent cough and sinus pressure. Thankfully it was fall break from school so I had two days off. The first day I slept till 6 o'clock at night from falling asleep at 8 o'clock the night before. I woke up with a painful headache and sinus pressure in my face. I was congested with a mild fever, so I went on the attack.
Avatar f tn have been cleared for close to 3 years. My liver was stage 3, not sure of grade, but I get terrible airbourne allergies every fall & spring. Everything I have tried to buy says no because of liver disorder. Please is there anything to help me thru this that won't set anything into motion again for me. Last fall, I went down into the mountains & became so ill with allergies it really put me down for several weeks. Thank you for any info you can give me.
Avatar f tn Your veterinarian will ask a lot of questions about how often he scratches and whether or not it is a seasonal occurrence (gets worse in spring and fall versus winter). Allergies are certainly a possibility and Benadryl might help. You can post your question in our Ask a Vet Expert Forum and the doctors there could probably even give you an approximate dose based on the weight of your dog. Allergy testing is also available through your veterinarian or even a veterinary dermatologist.
1243620 tn?1274790697 Often there are foods with similar chemicals as what you are allergic to and you can obtain a list of those from the allergist or other trusted source. For example, my friend with certain grass allergies will avoid carrots and avacados in the summer and fall because they will get an itchy sensation in the mouth because their immume system is reacting to grass pollen.
Avatar n tn Another option to look at is food allergies. This site will help you see how food allergies effect behavior: http://www.borntoexplore.org/allergies.
Avatar n tn s just a tough bug that keeps hitting everyone here time and time again in the North East. Maybe my resistance was lowered from surgery and possibly the reason I kept having problems in the fall? Like you ChitChatNine... I'm wondering if I got some scar tissue now to because I noticed I had much of the same S/S you described above with my latest sickness. However, the sensation was much worse when I'd get the slightest sinus drainage before I had the nodule/PTT removed.
Avatar m tn One of my kids has wicked allergies. I have Fall allergies which they normally call hay fever as does he but he also has a flare of spring allergies. Our allergist said this is from blooming plants, leaves budding out on trees, etc. They are emitting things that they do so less during the warmer summer months. Do you use anything like claritan? My son uses that and a saline nasal wash. It helps.
483397 tn?1208458504 I believe that allergies do trigger PVC's. I have chronic PVC's, but they ramp up in the early spring and in the fall. Even my cardiologist noticed the pattern, and felt that there was an allergy trigger in my case. Mine seems to be aggravated by high tree pollen. I always feel so much better on rainy days when the pollen is down.
Avatar f tn My list was sooo long that i lost 30 lbs in the fall, and only weighed 82lbs (yuck). I am a young mother of two and, in the fall, i was dying. My reactions are respiratory and very scary...my throat swells, it gets itchy, my mounth, nose, eyes and ears itch, heqart races etc...so eating for me was almost like impossible b/c i was so woerried i would die from my reactions. Anyways, i went to see a hollistic doctor after having NO luck with traditional doctors who all thought i was nuts.
Avatar n tn Over the past few years, I'll occasionally have eye irritations when I wear my contacts. It usually occurs in the fall, but it's not limited to this time of year completely. The contact will usually cause discomfort in the eye and the whites of the eye will turn almost fully red with a high sensitivity to light. I went to my optometrist in 2005 who was pretty useless in helping me determine the cause, telling me it was allergies.
Avatar f tn Lately ive been coughing so much. they say its because its getting to fall and winter season, it will be coming frequently person to person. well when i run i breathe heavy, i cant catch my breathe, and i slow down a lot. im wondering if i have asthma or something else. this has only been going on for 2 days now so i dont know if it will go away soon. also my voice is raspy, like its sore or getting deeper.
