Common Questions and Answers about Allergies eyes redness

allergies

Avatar n tn It could be allergies, although an good eye doctor should be able to diagnose eye allergy symptoms. Did you see an opthamologist or an optometrist? An opthamologist is a medical doctor specializing in the eye. An optometrist only does vision testing for glasses. I find using contact saline solution as an eye wash and an antihistamine eye drop are very helpful. I like Zaditor for my eye drop and use an antique eye wash cup to wash my eyes twice daily. I hope that helps.
Avatar n tn Being fair-skinned with blue eyes, I've always had an issue with redness, but have been able to control it with Bausch & Lomb Opcon eye drops. However, a couple of years ago it got to the point where that wasn't working any more, so I went to an ophthalmologist in Orlando who examined me and said there was nothing wrong.
Avatar f tn I don't have allergies, but I use an eye mist for my dry/red eyes. I can't remember the name of it right now, but I'm pretty sure it is the only one in mist form.
Avatar n tn Is the eye discharge at certain times of the day or in connection with certain activities? Are your eyes sensitive to light? Is it associated with redness, increased lacrimation or crusting?
237053 tn?1258828426 I promise this is the last question tonight!! I'm on a roll!! Gosh!! I thought I read somewhere about having red eyes and lymes disease. I remember a couple years ago out of nowhere my eyes got really really red. They didn't itch or anything.. just red. Nothing eased the redness either. I believe it lasted a couple days then went away. My sister in law had mentioned something about using too much visine can cause a reverse reaction and make the eyes red.
Avatar m tn 1) Redness (pinkish redness, really) in the outer corners of my eyes generally extending to the Iris. The inner corners of my eyes remain white. 2) Eye itching of varying intensity. Sometimes the itching sensation becomes overwhelming. The itchiness seems to more or less track the daily pollen count. 3) Foreign body sensation which comes and goes without any clear triggers. Also, I unfailingly experience fairly severe foreign body sensation when I rub my eyes, which I try to avoid doing.
Avatar f tn I have had red eyes and eyelids for several months. Redness reducing eye drops help, but only temporarily. I had this same problem when I was on Accutane, but it went away once i was off the drug. Now it is back and I have been off accutane for over a year. My eyes are not itchy, and there is no discharge to indicate pink-eye. I was tested by an allergist for enviornmental and food allergies and all were negative.
Avatar n tn Do you think that would help the redness? I have often wondered if I maybe suffer from sleep apnea but I have heard that it is very expensive to get tested for it. I know it can't just be from my allergies because if I just don't get enough sleep one night my eyes will be completely bloodshot all day the next.
Avatar n tn As the eye redness never went away, I was tried on several steroid drops and creams etc, however the most they ever did was in the first three days of using a new medicine the redness would go away marginally but it always returned. I have been tested for allergies and have several blood tests, and seen around 5-6 eye specialists who do not know what is wrong with me. If anyone has any ideas then please please help me!!!
Avatar f tn I’ve been using zaditor for a few weeks now. I suspected dry eyes too but drops (only using the vials) don’t seem to reduce any redness. If the main culprit of the red is due to dry eyes and it’s been somewhat chronic, is it possible for the red to go down? Or only possible to help prevent it from getting worse?
Avatar f tn After that treatment most of the redness was gone, but some veins were still present in the whites of my eyes. I put in a new pair of contacts, and by the second day the redness was back. I was told that my eye wasn't fully recovered and to wait a week. The veins in my eyes seem to have gone down a little, but are still present. This morning I put in a brand new pair of contacts yet again and saw that the veins seemed to be coming back.
Avatar n tn After 2-1/2 wks, the redness cont.,+ still using artif tears 6x a day+ felt dry on the inner white of my eyes where red. Went back & he put me on Alrex 3x for 3 dy, then 1x for 2 weeks + cont. elestat + restasis. I started doing research & now think it may be dry eye not allergy. Elestat says it relieves itchy eyes but mine aren't itchy just red. I started reading about overuse of non preserv drops & the dangers of Bak preserv which is in Elestat. My ? is should I discont.

Avatar n tn I have gone to get my eyes checked and I was told I had Permanent broken blood vessels on my eyes! And I was told this was a result of my allergies to saline solution for my contact lenses. Is there anything I can do? Is there any type of surgery that can help me?
Avatar n tn My eyes were bothering me and were red and started to water a lot. After two weeks I went to the doctors and they told me I had bacterial pink eye and gave me eye drops (3 drops a day for 7 days). It's been over a week since the eye drops and still my eyes are very wet (but don't really drip) and water seems to just build up for some reason. Sometimes theres a lot of liquid in my eye to the point that things look blurry.
570004 tn?1226980196 The main symptoms are swollen eyelids (especially in the morning but persisting throughout the day), redness, gritty sensation, and extreme dryness alternating with excessive tearing. It is very noticeable, when it flares up, people are constantly asking me if I'm OK (they think I am crying). It has been getting worse again in the past weak or so, and I went to see the opthamologist (again). I've been using antibiotic eyedrops for the past few days and it may be helping some.
Avatar f tn I started taking Visine a year ago when I noticed my eyes were kind of red from allergies/tiredness. I've just found out about rebound hyperemia, and want to quit before I harm my eyes anymore. So my questions are: 1. How long would it take for my eyes to recover if I quit cold turkey? 2. At what point would my symptoms(i.e. redness) be the worst after quitting? 3. How can I diminish redness after quitting?
Avatar n tn I have heavy eyes at night plus dry and redness and during the day they are irritated and dry, looks like pink eye could it be allergies? Sometimes one eye gets so bad it looks like pink eye but than it goes away after 2 day.
Avatar f tn now even after wearing the glasses my eyes become red when on the computer or if i do work that demands concentration, the red lines which had come due to allergies are still there, the burning in the evening [ which is due to allergies] still continues, eyes are red most of the time, blurred vision in the right eye, there is discomfort all throughout the day and slight pain sometimes in the eyes. i am 20 and I've had no eye problems prior to this.
Avatar n tn Thank you for the reply! Are the red veins in my eyes from using the eyedrops too much? Will they go away in time? Thanks again!
Avatar n tn Not really something you can treat with laser which would not address the underlying problem that caused the redness in the first place. It could be from dry eyes, allergies, sun or wind exposure, chemical exposure, prior injury or other causes. Usually it takes many years to get to your stage. Please see an ophthalmoligist to talk about what you can do to lessen the redness for the future. You need to know the cause in order to start the proper treatment regimen.
Avatar m tn Hello, Does the onset of never before allergies(first time allergies that i know of and i am 19) indicate something, my allergies were specific eyes itch, and were red, and after a week or two, They were sore and it was only painful to look out the corners of the eye. Optimologist told me it was just allergies.
Avatar n tn This april we took her into get her eyes checked related to redness and the pediatrician stated it was pink eye and gave us eye drop, and problem still persisted another week and he said to continue eye drops and gave us oral antibiotics. She also has recurrent stys to her left eye only, but it is occassional. Its seemed to work for a while but she still has problems with redness to her eyes occasionally usually when she spends time outside.
594345 tn?1219188371 I use Visine everyday to relieve redness. I also use it because my eyes get very dry. I read that it was bad... why is that?? I also use the eye drops since I have a lot of gunk that gathers up throughout the day. Usually I wait to remove it until it reaches the corner of my eye. It's a little nasty, but I can pull the clear boogerish gunk out and from underneath both of my upper and lower eyelids.. it staying connected to be one long piece that was surrounding my eye.
Avatar n tn Our Shih-tzu, 9-1/2 years old, has developed redness around his eyes and his mouth. He rubs his face a lot, which I would assume aggravates the situation. What do you think would be the problem? Allergies? Shampoo? Diet?
Avatar m tn I was put on steriod drops for that time period. Problem was the redness never went away. The doctor said my eyes are fine except that they are dry. He even had another doctor come in to confirm that my eyes were ok but they were dry. Tuesday is when I stopped the Steriod drops like they said and starting using Blink tear drops. Today is Friday and my eyes look reder and also during this time I have been getting these small headachs that come and go above my eye.
