Allegra vs zyrtec drug

Common Questions and Answers about Allegra vs zyrtec drug

allegra

Avatar m tn In the first place Zyrtec tends to make you drowsy and Allegra tends to perk you up. It would be pretty weird to take them together. I take Zyrtec daily and when my allergies act up I take a single dose of Benadryl which is short-acting. that works well for me.
Avatar m tn Both Allegra and Zyrtec are 24 hour medications in my area. I have known several people who took 3 Zyrtec in one day, and my allergist says that you can't really OD on antihistimines. You should be sure to drink PLENTY of water and watch for signs of constipation and dehydration. You should make sure that your dr is well aware of how much of these meds you are taking to make sure that they are ok with any other medications you maybe taking.
Avatar f tn For Zyrtec the statement suggests that this drug is probably safe but that there is not enough evidence to confirm that belief. You may want to discuss this information with your doctor. The most conservative approach would be for you to avoid these drugs unless they are deemed necessary by you and your doctor. Good luck Pregnancy Considerations Montelukast (Singulair) was not teratogenic in animal studies, however, there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women.
Avatar n tn Loratadine is considered a placebo by many doctors (and many patients that I have talked to). Zyrtec and Allegra are good choices. Since Allegra just came OTC, it will be much more expensive the Zyrtec generic. I take Zyrtec. Take care and feel better. God bless.
Avatar f tn suidfed is okay as well.
Avatar n tn He has done quite well with Allegra for seasonal allergies, and even better with Zyrtec. Zyrtec is OTC but allegra is not. Both are well tolerated with Risperdal. Benaadryl is not good with Risperdal. My son, age 17, is zonked out when he takes both. He basically is out like a light and doesn't wake up in the morning (until about 12 hours later) the few times he has taken it. Not good at all. Claritin does not work for him either, nor anyone in my family.
Avatar f tn I have really bad allergies and can usually get away with just Zyrtec but this year they are way worse and my doc told me to switch it up and try Claritin or Allegra the Allegra seems to work the best when I also take a sudafed but don't take the combo one just plan Allegra and plain sudafed.
11803947 tn?1430842645 You might consider switching to allegra or zyrtec. Both are safe during pregnancy. Sleeping with a humidifier and drinking warm tea also helps me.
Avatar n tn I'd be interested to know what input you get about this. I have been having what seem to be allergy episodes -- nasal congestion, watery eyes, clear mucous -- for a day or 2, then it's gone. I don't use decongestants as I have a history of Afib, pac's & pat. My first episode, I woke up with Afib and ending up needing to be electro-converted. I am abut ready to see an allergist, as I can't identify a trigger. Is the omeprazole a proton pump inhibitor for reflux?
Avatar f tn Benadryl is safe.
503607 tn?1275671579 t take Allegra anymore, nor Claritin, nor Aerius or Zyrtec. Also, no Sudafed and ones like that. He said I really shouldn't take anything with a heart arrhythmia, except to use a saline nasal spray from the pharmacy. That doesn't do much, but is better than nothing. When I get congested, my ears plug and I get dizzy. I really wish I felt I could safely take something, but am afraid to do so.
Avatar f tn I have seasonal allergies and was wondering the best OTC antihistamine would work better. Allegra, Zyrtec or loratadine. I was on 12.5 zoloft for 2 weeks and tapering up to 25 mg (split another 12.5 in half so 3/4 a pill then one whole 25 mg. I have to do this slowly as I am super sensitive to meds. Thanks for any help. Plus I eventually need to taper down my ativan when I level on the zoloft.
Avatar f tn My dr said no Zyrtec but yes to Benadryl, Claritan, Allegra.
Avatar n tn (sorry) or if I take the steroid I can cough up huge yellow inch long mucus plugs. I take Allegra, Zyrtec, Claritin, Flonase and singular, albuterol nebs and inhaler, also famotidine 2x daily I was on advair for 2months and he said stop because it did nothing for me other than change sputum from slimy to chunky and is quite pricey for no results.
Avatar f tn Claritin, benadryl, Allegra, and zyrtec are all safe for your entire pregnancy.
Avatar f tn Try Allegra I have acid reflux also but I have really had that problem but try Allegra its a non drowsy allergy pill you can get it a Walmart, Walgreens or wherever.
Avatar f tn I have bad allergies which is causing the coughing and they said I can use Claritin, Zyrtec or Allegra. Claritin does absolutely nothing for me, so I asked what about Claritin D and it has been linked to birth defects--- so thats a no... I tried zyrtec and still no relief... my body is intolerant to Allegra... so I just have to suffer until baby is out and I can go back on my allergy shots (which will be after I stop BF'ing)--- the worst part about it...
Avatar n tn i am constantly experiencing itching and burning too.i consulted some websites and took zyrtec for few days.it seemed to help.however,i doze for the rest of the day and i want to avoid it.please advice me if i need to take any lab tests or if i should go for an alternate medication.my final exams are approaching and i am too stressed out to visit a physician at the moment and im mostly confined at home.
Avatar f tn Check with the doctor but he will more than likely firmly recommend Claritin and warn against Benadryl. keep us posted.
Avatar f tn My doctor also told me some of the newer meds (Allegra or zyrtec, can't remember which or if it was both now) was OK too. Might just ring them up and ask if you're having a hard time.
Avatar n tn 05%) and was told to take a Zyrtec at night and a allegra in the morning., This did not help, the hair on the right side of my head all fell out! so did the hair on my private part. I also have a breakout all over both my foreams, I have tried every natural oil there is, I found this product called Emuaidmax, I tried it and it stop the itching and I use marula oil on my arms everyday and they started to heal. I am still using both of these products.
Avatar f tn He prescribed an Epi-Pen and recommended Loratadine twice a day, when the attacks continued, he added Zyrtec at night, but it's having no effect--still covered in hives and having big angioedema attacks every other day. He said to stay on the antihistamines. I tried to get a referral to an endocrin., but they won't see me unless I have signs of hypothyroidism. Is there something else I can try to stop the hives and the angioedema attacks?
Avatar f tn 1) KEEP the dog out of your bedroom. We put a baby gate up in our door way when we got the puppy. I knew I was allergic to dogs and had just been diagnosed with asthma. Keeping the dog away from me was a priority. The dog rarely comes past our daughter's door. He is now 10. 2) Wash your hands well after handling the dog. 3) Vacuum and clean regularly. Bathing the dog often will help keep pollen off of his coat from bothering, but really does little for true dog allergy.
2078979 tn?1332206668 My doctor told me that zyrtec and claritin are ok but not allegra. If you perfer natural remedies, chamomile tea, vapor rub, hot chicken broth with a little cheyenne, lots of fruits and veggies-especially vitamin c. Netti pots work great for sinus problems, just make sure to use distilled water.
Avatar f tn I'm about giving up. I cannot breath. Can I take zyrtec, claritin or allegra.
