This recent settlement requires a total of about $27.7 million to be paid by Merck.
Avatar f tn I took my first dose of Alendronate and then experience significant muscle pain for the next 4 days. Does anyone know if I should expect this to happen each time I take it or is it something to happen for the first few times until my body adjusts to the medicine?
Avatar n tn Do you mean Fosamax (alendronate)? If you do, its for treating bone problems like Osteoperosis by adding bone mass and slows bone loss. I use it for Osteopenia.
296738 tn?1235996403 No I am not. I had a tubal so that I could avoid taking BC. I am already regretting having it done.
Avatar n tn I'm always a day late and a dollar short but in this case I would have been far better off if I'd have read your comment. It's now July 2019 and Prolia has indeed been a nightmare for me as well. I was due for my next injection next month but obviously I discontinued that treatment. I still can't get a confirmed diagnosis from anyone who will 100% confirm that my issues (lots of them, lesions on my forearms included) were from Prolia, but I know the roll.
Avatar m tn The authors examined the effects of high-dose oral alendronate (40 mg daily) for 6 months on 3 adult patients with intractable headache due to fibrous dysplasia of the skull. Each patient had disease processes not amenable to surgery. The patients underwent clinical follow-up at 1, 3, and 6 months. Their pain levels were documented at each visit by using a visual analog scale. All 3 patients demonstrated a significant decrease in pain levels and became independent of scheduled analgesics.
Avatar f tn I am also taking Aromasin for bc. Stopped alendronate (I am osteopenic due to 30 yrs of prednisolone and Arimidex) in case this caused the oesophagitis. Would appreciate your advice.

Avatar f tn Osteoporosis medications like Raloxifene (Evista), alendronate (Fosomax), risendronate (Actonel) and ibandronate (Boniva) all can cause flu like symptoms in individuals that are taking them. I am not sure what medications you are on, but this could be your problem.
Avatar n tn Also, would it perhaps be possible to add some alendronate, or something else to help her bone density and still be able to benefit from the thyroid medication? Thank you so much!
Avatar n tn s, but this has exponentially been exacerbated by Arimidex. For the past 2 yrs I have been taking a weekly bisphosphonate (Alendronate), plus twice daily Calcichew/Vit.D to help prevent further bone loss. Tamoxifen is prescribed for pre-menopausal patients, the AI's for post-menopausal. As I had a full hysterectomy some 19 yrs ago, I could go straight on to Arimidex.
Avatar f tn Alendronate one tablet once a week for my Osteoporosis, Calcium 600 + D3 too. then I have Telfast 800 mg for my Allergie Rhinitis, Metformin 2 x a day 'cause I'm DM type 2, Simvastatin 10 mg - for cholesterol and Vit. E 400 IU. I took five years of Tamoxifen then changed to Femara because I have had Lumpectomy in September, 2003. Praise the Lord I am cancer free now. BTW I have also Rectozorin for my Hemorrhoid. It bleeds because I'm always constipated.
Avatar f tn She had been taking 75mcg once per day. As well as 70mg a week of alendronate once per week for osteoporosis. This is all so confusing. When everything and everyone is contradicting themselves.
Avatar n tn 30+ yrs of steroids has thinned my bones significantly, so I was prescribed a bisphosphonate (Alendronate) alongside calcium (Calcichew) and Vitamin D3. My hair is a lot thicker now. You might wish to get tested for Vit.D as I understand that some 50% of the population who do not live in sunny climates, are deficient. Not sure if it affects the hair though. Try googling "hair loss vitamin D" and see what comes up.
Avatar n tn For my bones I take Calcium+vitamin D, and once weekly Novo Alendronate which is the equivalent of what you are taking now.My surgeon told me that it's very important for me to take Arimidex because it lessens considerably the estrogen that the body produces thus diminishing the chances of recurrence or developing a new tumor.Personally I would prefer not taking any drugs, but since I have very little side effects, I will continue taking this medication for the next 4 years.
798555 tn?1292787551 Below is from drugs [dot] com, specifically about magnesium gluconate (I didn't look for other forms of magnesium): ---------------beginning of clip------------------------------------------- What other drugs will affect magnesium? Certain antibiotics should not be taken at the same time as magnesium gluconate because they may not be absorbed as well by your body. If you are taking an antibiotic, avoid taking it within 2 hours before or after you take magnesium gluconate.

Avatar f tn Biphosphonates are phosphate derivatives that bind to the surface of the bone, thereby blocking bone removal and decreasing bone loss. Currently, there are three biphosphonates - alendronate [Fosamax], etidronate [Didronal]) and risedronate [Actonel], that have been approved by the FDA for the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis. These medications have been shown to increase bone mass, prevent bone loss, and to decrease the incidence of bone fractures.
Avatar f tn I am 54 and was recently prescribed Alendronate for osteopenia found on a bone scan. Also took prednisone for 6 weeks last summer and am now on immunomodulators for RA. I have noticed facial/lip collapse, aging my looks and smile which was my best asset as well. My lips feel like they float around my teeth. My teeth along the gum line look like they are going to "pop out" with white and red marks on the gum leading to the teeth.
475555 tn?1469304339 Dont get rid of the virus, dont get on the list for transplantv when the cirrhosis becomes decomp. Onj the flip side--take tx to get rid of the virus, and the liver is brutalized by the drugs to the pointv of BECOMMING decomp. Its all a macabre irony by the master of satire.
