Common Questions and Answers about Alden rehab nursing home

rehab

Avatar m tn After a stay in the hospital for 6 weeks we were told that she would never meet the requirements for a rehab program. She was sent to a nursing home but the family continued doing her exercise that we found helpful from the Internet and we used therapeutic needles daily to stimulate the nerves on her bad side. After a period of 5 months and getting her on a antidepressant we were able to get her to rehab. We were told first that she wouldn't live.
Avatar f tn gov and search nursing home comparisons. The issue I have is that none of the nursing homes actually mention rehab. My dad has a great attitude and is working hard at his therapy sessions. Can anyone offer advice on how to effectively research and screen facilitities to ensure that my dad continues therapy with the goal of going home? Thanks!
Avatar f tn so my grandma is at this nursing home in huntington health and rehab. a worker there is giving out information about the resident (my grandmother) to outsiders; suchs as; people not working there, her kids, other people. this is going around the school about how my grandmother acts at a nursing home. and i want this to stop. is this illegal to give out information? tell me please. and if you get it from a website, type the web site in.
Avatar f tn My mother is residing in a nursing home in a wheelchair. She has little rehab in there, because she's too tired to keep at it. She does try, but the rehab doesn't last too long because of her tiredness. She is immobilized on her left side, and can't balance herself to go on a commode.
172023 tn?1334672284 My OB is also worried about uterine rupture since this is now my 3rd pregnancy in such a short time without having a period between (got pg with Alden at 6mo while nursing Alexander, and now got pg again without AF while nursing Alden). He actually asked me if I was aware that breastfeeding isn't a form of bc! Uh, duh? You don't say!!! :) LOL Anyway, I hope to meet everyone else on this board eventually too...
Avatar m tn her time at the rehab is covered under the hippa law which means that the doctors/staff agh the rehab CAN NOT i repeat CAN NOT tell anyone that is not on her treatment team any info about her unless she signs releases they can be in a lot of trouble if they reported her with out her breaking any law did she give consent to speak to the board of nursing about her condition?
Avatar n tn I have no expert knowledge of risperdol for adults, I know it can caiuse children problems, but I have a gut feeling as I suspect you have that it isnt good for him and I totally sgree with you when you say you want to talk to your father in his final years..
Avatar m tn My father had a stroke in July and at the time he didn't qualify for therapy... he was in a semi vegetative state & required a peg tube. He was discharged to a skilled nursing home & his prognosis was not great. We started the process of applying for Medicaid for long term care which he was approved for. However, my father was a fighter and began to recover quickly!
Avatar m tn It is now November and he is still in a nursing home in Long Term Care unit and not receiving ANY rehab. The reason the home gives is that he has "plateaued". People I have spoken to have said that he should still be receiving therapy. I realize that he is now on medicaid, (he lost his job, home, everything due to this stroke) and is being treated like a second class citizen!! He is getting very depressed. Thank you!
1821865 tn?1317522031 They removed her right skull a few days later she had a second stroke where she lost her ability of speaking. Since she has not said a word. Now she is at a nursing home rehab where she makes 5 steps behind then forward now the place told us they are going to drop her because she is not improving. I know some of you have been in that riad what should i do take her home or live her in long term. They kept madicating her with Ativan i tried to talk to the nursing director not much of nother.
Avatar m tn It is Christmas and dad is weaker at tendercare nursing home, His blood sodium and chloride are elevated, Dad sleeps a lot and is dehydrated, I will ask nurse to give him half cup of water every two hours seems nursing home neglects you once you no longer are alert, he also pockets food in his mouth. Very sad what is happening. Not sure who to blame.
Avatar f tn now she has developed conjestive heart failure. The inplanted a idu to help controll the arrithmia. she wants to go home and the doctors want her to go to a nursing facility for a week. My sister would be giving her 24 hour care. How dangerous is this condition and should she have 24 nursing care?
Avatar n tn And, if you have insurance or can find a way to afford it, get your husband out of a skilled nursing facility and into an acute or post-acute care rehab facility, preferably one that specializes in brain injuries. My husband had a severe stroke in August and is currently in a neurorehab. He was paralyzed on the right side, lost his ability to speak intelligbly, had no sense of balance, couldn't swallow, short-term memory loss, and had many cognitive issues.
1817813 tn?1317017629 You know we have considered this. She was in a nursing home/rehab facility @ a year ago. She got a cold sore on her lip @ 5 years ago and of course the doc told her it was herpes simplex 1 or 2, can't remember which, but could it be that it travels? Sounds kinda weird I know, but we are at our wits end. There's no reason she should have to live like this and the docs aren't helping.
Avatar n tn My delemma is that he is making sense now when he talks not good but we can understand him, and he has always asked us not to put him in a nursing home if the time came that he couldnot care for himself----do we ignore his wishes or look for alternative treatment. He is being fed thru the nose at themoment. Be grateful for your help.
Avatar f tn now I am waiting and they sent me to a nursing home rehab .before I left they put what they called a jackson tube in.. but to make it short I was in nursing home for about 7 months and they changed it a couple times, It has been well over a year that they were able to take the trach out and the stoma is still open . I keep it shut with a bandage ove it it is nto a big hole but enough that air escapes.
Avatar f tn They shipped him from the rehab/nursing home to the ER a few days ago where they ran a bunch of blood tests (all normal -no other signs of bleeding or anemia) and did an exam (no obvious lesions or hemeroids (sp?)). They shipped him back to the rehab. The discharge isn't painful and he's feeling better than ever this week. Blood is bright red (not old and dark).
Avatar n tn My 87 year old mother had severe stroke May 2...she's in nursing/rehab now. She's doing well as far as BP, heart rhythm, other vitals, etc. She's in intensive therapy...still cannot walk or use her left arm. Has some movement in leg and arm. Also, she has very bad arthritis, including the knee in her "bad' leg. Her left hand is now swollen and she seems to be losing the little ability she had to grasp.
Avatar f tn Isn't there some web site you can check this out on or maybe in her union book. There must some information that came with her nursing license, like all the do's and don'ts. Or maybe an 1-800 number you can call anomysley (spelling) and ask these questions.
