Common Questions and Answers about Aldara topical cream

aldara

Avatar m tn Have any of you ever used Aldara 5% cream? My dermatologist suggested it to determine if my mole was just an irritation or a skin cancer. After reading the package insert and doing some research online I was to scared to try it. If it is recommended to me again I am wondering if I should use it. Thanks!
Avatar m tn t going to work for me? Wondering if Podofilox or the stronger 5% Aldara cream would have been a better choice.
Avatar m tn It has been working great and I am noticing my warts are starting to shrink. The other morning after using my aldara cream overnight I noticed a lump under my skin where I applied some aldara. It is very tender to touch and very noticeable. I was wondering if this is a normal side effect and what I should do to make this go away and if I should keep using aldara on that area while there is a lump. Thank you.
556286 tn?1215553880 t worry, I used to have these warts on my butts, and my doctor gave me Aldara cream 5% (imiquimod) and it went away within two weeks. Aldara is kind of expensive they're $300 for 12 tiny packets of about 4 water droplets. But they worked like miracle. Please ask you doctor for a prescription.
Avatar m tn LINK TO IMAGES: http://imgur.com/a/QkoMW Back story- I have been to 1 derm and 1 general doc. general doc couldnt tell me what this is; and derm said it's possibly hpv, and froze the area which did NOTHING at all except hurt. She then prescribed me aldara cream just incase it's warts (i've used aldara 3-4 times so far and nothing seems to be happening). The area basically flattens when stretched, and the bumps are not rough to the touch- more like smooth raised surfaces..
Avatar n tn Hi all, I am desperately seeking peoples opinions on this please. I have suffered from genital warts for around 18 months now. The first time I got the symptoms I went to my local GUM clinic and the doctor stated from a visual examination that I had the HPV virus type that caused genital warts. He then froze the warts and gave me some 'warticon' cream.
Avatar f tn I have been using Aldara cream for two weeks now, and surprisingly my warts are gone. But I now notice that the area where the warts used to be is very red. I don't know if that is supposed to happen or not but should I continue using the cream? I don't want to kill anymore skin cells then I have to..

1094370 tn?1317134825 Hi! Sorry to hear about this. I'm 32 and have had my fair share of basal cell and squamous cell carcinoma. I think the cream you are referring to is Imiquimod/Aldara? It is essentially a topical chemo. Generally if it scabs it means it's working. Unfortunately I haven't had great success with it and have had to have the cancer surgically removed. Not sure where you live, but I have fantastic Doctor recommendations in NYC. Let me know if you want more info.
Avatar m tn Hi, went back to the doctor, he prescribed Aldara cream for me and ask me to use til finished then goes back to him for evaluation. he says athough biopsy shows but the growth looks still like Genital Warts. I dun feel itchy at all , i read up on LSC and its supposed to be itchy.
Avatar f tn I have molluscum on my genitals and received cryotherapy and aldara cream... where the cryotherapy took place it looks like the white head is coming out of the skin like its being pushed upward to fall out... it looks like i can take the white head out with tweezers... is this a good idea or really dumb?
Avatar m tn there are several options, the least expensive is to try a topical solution like Podofilox. Supposedly it's available at Walgreens drug stores without a prescription. I bought an identical product for a friend in Mexico for $6. Aldara prescription cream for warts is ridiculously expensive, so unless you can get it at a huge discount try Podofilox first. There are other options like freezing them off, etc., but that requires a doctor visit.
Avatar n tn i would stop the use and the redness/ swelling would go away and i would contine use and everything would be okay. recently i bought an aldara imitation cream, not the same brand name as aldara and have been experiencing more of a rash like reddish irritation where i use the cream. when i stop using it it will almost go away totaly but when i start back up using the cream the same rash in the same place will re appear. so im not sure if its the cheaper cream or if i have herpes.
Avatar f tn I have these very small red bumps around my vestibule. They are just a few of them and they aren't symmetrically distributed. I wouldn't even notice them if they weren't so painful to touch, which makes sex impossible. I have been to several doctors and their opinions are controversial, the one says "Yes, they are warts.
Avatar m tn After stupidly trying to treat it myself for a couple of months, I finally went to a dermatologist and was prescribed Aldara topical cream to treat them. My lesions are different from the typical HPV warts in that they take the form of red/purplish papules that form mosaic patterns. This is caused by HPV type 16 - a high risk form. The lesions are classified as bowenoid papulosis - a rare form of HPV that is pre-cancerous -- however, in almost all cases it stays benign.
Avatar n tn several times and tried many treatments such as two boxes (24 sachets) of (Aldara 5% Cream) using it on MWF with no improvments. I also tried Locacid Solution and sometimes electirc burning, drinking Zinc,etc.. and there was no improvments as well.. An advice would be highly appreciated! Avatar n tn I just was wondering if there were any types of topical creams and such that I might be able to use to speed up the healing process and make these red spots look less shocking. Also, once these things heal over, is it likely that they will leave a permanent scar? Thanks all.
Avatar f tn If your skin reacts badly or the skin reaction becomes too uncomfortable when using Aldara cream, wash the cream off with mild soap and water and contact your doctor. Your doctor may recommend that you have a treatment rest period of several days. ref:http://www.medsafe.govt.nz/Consumers/cmi/a/aldara.
Avatar f tn I have genital HPV and I was treating the warts using Aldara. Applied a lot of the cream Monday to the outside of lower labia minora. Wednesday the labia was hard, swollen and really sore. Friday the swelling was reduced and in it place were 2 sore lesions located just inside the labia. I am now convinced it is herpes from looking at pictures online and reading the symptoms. I am also experiencing tingling down there too!
Avatar m tn hi , i would like to find out if i am currently on aldara immuqioud 5 % cream, and the skin is reddish can i stilll have sex, without the cream on.
Avatar m tn and i use cortizone cream when its really itchy.. you can also use the cream called aldara.. its generally used for someone with genital warts.. but its been proven to help..
Avatar m tn What? are you applying Aldara on entire genital area? aldara is to be applied on the warts only and not the surrounding area... did a doctor diagnose you for genital warts and prescribed Aldara for you? If not so, please see a dermatologist and first get a correct diagnoses and talk to him about application of this cream... a mild irritation, soreness and itching is part of the healing process with this cream...
Avatar f tn This December I had a tiny, flesh colored flat wart on my outerr vaginal lip. My doctor prescribed me a 24 pack of Aldara cream. Afetr about a week of using the cream I called him and aske him if I could stop using the cream or do I need to finish it all. He told me to finish using until all gone. I continued using the cream and around the second week of using i developed a sever rash. They were bumps that were really red and itchy.
