aldara redness

The problem here to me is not entirely the warts, but after ending the aldara treatment i am experiencing redness around the areas of treatment and also other areas. The redness looks to be spreading like spots differing in size. I have had protected sex twice in the last couple of months and i am worried about STD's. Could this be a primary herpes outbreak or is it normal for the skin to react this way after ending aldara treatment?

Thanks for the reply empathy.. though I think you misread my question. My issue is that I'm NOT getting any redness, itchiness, etc. I am not expecting that the Aldara will work after three applications on the warts; I am concerned however that my complete lack of other symptoms i.e. redness, itchiness, blisters, etc. means that the drug is not working. I would like to see if anybody has used Aldara, not had any noticable negative side effects, and had it still be effective.

dont use aldara. I think ACV even does better than aldara although some people here would disagree with my opinion. You can get mini surgery like electrocauterization, cryotherapy, or use podofin and its variants. These three, afaik, are better than anything else to treat warts.

I have had genital warts for 5 years now and ive been using aldara for quite some time. aldara seems to work pretty well for the most part. while using aldara frequeantly i would experience some side effects like some pain or swelling after using it for a long period of time. i would stop the use and the redness/ swelling would go away and i would contine use and everything would be okay.

Ive been on aldara (imiquimod) 5% for approximately 2 months now. I cant notice if im seeing any improvement with my genital warts. However, ive developed a ridiculous rash around the application site. which is extremely red and irritated. The rash looks almost like if i ran really fast and slid my knee on a rug, except its around the base of my penis. Its sometimes itchy and i feel as if at sometimes its developing a particular scab. will this redness ever go away?

I am being treated with Aldara for HPV and I know that there is some redness and pain associated with the treatment, but I am having a very painful reaction. It is on the inner labia, not where I put the cream - however, I am sure some of the cream may have transfered there. It is red, was only slightly itchy early in the day, and by the afternoon it hurt very bad to the touch. It is almost like an open sore maybe, but it doesn't look like a sore, it just feels... raw???

Hey everyone. I have posted on here before about my HPV. I was given aldara a couple months back and have been using it regularly since then. My question is how do I know when I can quit? I stopped for about a week when I went on vacation and forgot my packets and on the trip all my redness went away and things started looking better. When I got home and started using again it came right back. How di I know when I can quit? once the wart is gone... one the packets are all used? THanks!

I have 4 growths 2 larger and 2 smaller, she ruled out Herpes and was left believing it was either Molluscum or Gential Warts. She prescribed Aldara to me and I have been using it for the past 3 weeks which have made the bumps much smaller. I was also tested for Gonorrhea and Chlamydia, both tested negative. Sround the same time I had a medium to light grayish discharge that had a fishy odor especially after I showered. I've had no pain in this time.

He stated that this was a side of effect of using aldara. After I ceased using it, the redness went away approximately one week later. The mole is still there seven weeks post intercourse. The area around it continues to ache and itch. I apply coritzone and/or benadryl. I guess my question is what are the chances that I have herpes, considering I have do not have anything on the head or shaft of my penis.

The area affected is between my scrotum and inner thigh crease. In the matter of a night i got redness and sores. Ive stopped using it and wash daily. It doesnt help that its right where my jeans and underwear ride. Any help in relief?

hey im a 20 yr old male. i used aldara for genital warts and it has only made my life worse. i used it for about a month and a half and been off it for about 2 weeks. anyways it did not diminish my warts AND MOST IMPORTANTLY my penis is STILL really red and with a burning sensation and sensitivity down the shaft and base (which is not even where i applied the drug!). I have tried vitamin E oil but have now stopped cuz idk if it helped or made it worse......

If in doubt, see a health care provider. But stop using Aldara or anything else. Aldara will cause the area to be red and inflamed, making it much harder for a provider to know what is going on. Just keep the area clean with soap and water once a day. I hope this helps.

Thanks for the comment. Just so I'm clear, is the warticon cream something you use after the nitrogen treatment just to make sure that you've zapped whatever warts were present. Essentially is this cream similar to Aldara or is this supposed to help the redness go away after you've been treated? Additionally, if I had this treatment done Tuesday morning...is it safe to say that most of this redness should subside by Friday night?

The first time I got the symptoms I went to my local GUM clinic and the doctor stated from a visual examination that I had the HPV virus type that caused genital warts. He then froze the warts and gave me some 'warticon' cream.

I have about 20-30 very small warts, and notice 2 or 3 of them showing a bit of redness and drying up a bit. Still not sure if this is due to the medication. Other than that I haven't noticed any effects or any type of side effects. Everything I read online says the areas should be very red/inflamed. Has anyone had a positive experience with Imiquimod without showing many effects? Should I just give it some more time or is it apparent that Imiquimod isn't going to work for me?

How was this diagnosed? There is no reliable test for men and HPV if you don't have actual warts present. Type 61 is a low risk strain, meaning it's not associated with higher chances for cancers. The IFN cream probably means that it's an interferon cream - though obviously I can't be sure about that without seeing it. Are you just supposed to rub it all over your penis 3 times a day for 8 weeks?

i have received cryotherapy and aldara cream for treatment of molluscum contagiosum a week ago to the date... the scabs have fallen off but there is still a lot of redness on the open skin and can still see the white bumps inside the open scab... does this mean i will have to undergo another cryotherapy again? how long does it usually take for cryotherapy to heal and is there anyway of speeding up the healing process?

I have genital HPV and I was treating the warts using Aldara. Applied a lot of the cream Monday to the outside of lower labia minora. Wednesday the labia was hard, swollen and really sore. Friday the swelling was reduced and in it place were 2 sore lesions located just inside the labia. I am now convinced it is herpes from looking at pictures online and reading the symptoms. I am also experiencing tingling down there too!

ive been using aldara cream for 3 weeks 3x a day. my o.b says that aldara is very strong enough to cause some common side effects. ANd speaking of aldara mean time i let my vagina rest for a while because of some side effects which causes my skin to break likewise itching. she also pointed out that treating gw may take longer period. hope that i can overcome this health problem.

t worry, I used to have these warts on my butts, and my doctor gave me Aldara cream 5% (imiquimod) and it went away within two weeks. Aldara is kind of expensive they're $300 for 12 tiny packets of about 4 water droplets. But they worked like miracle. Please ask you doctor for a prescription.

Hello, I have been taking bactrim now for about 10 days, and recently since a few days ago i have noticed redness on my penis. I am circumcised and have the redness where my shaft meets my coronal region. I was wondering if bactrim could cause such irritation. Its mild pain and slight burning. The dermatologist i saw said that it is irritation and not anything STD related. I however, completely forgot to tell the dermatologist that i was on bactrim. any advice?
