Common Questions and Answers about Aldara prescribing information

aldara

Avatar f tn This is something to discuss with the doctor who is treating you with podophyllin and prescribing Aldara. (In general, I avoid using more than one treatment at a time.) 4) Genital warts, and the underlying HPV infection, generally stop recurring within a few months and pretty much always clear up within a year or so. Dermatologists generally have the greatest experience with persistent or recurrent warts and the broadest range of experience with multiple treatment options.
Avatar m tn hey im a 20 year old gay male who used aldara for some small gw for about a month. i quit becuase it was irritating my penis. i have a huge redish pink tinlgling burning blotch that appears to be getting better (after over 3 weeks!) but now another is starting to form i believe it is not incredibly flakey like some of the psoriasis pictures ive seen but it has been kinda dry..
535760 tn?1213891166 Still, I do not know how credible this information exactly is. I found using Aldara to clear up the majority of warts, and then using a different treatment (such as cryo) to clear any remaining warts seemed to be effective. I used a combination of TCA and Aldara, and have been wart free for a month now (took 3 months to entirely clear). Aldara has some discomfort associated with it, but I found it less painful than TCA (though much more itchy!).
Avatar m tn I went in last week while the last ulcer was healing and discussed this with the doctor as it was my normal 12-14 week follow after prescribing aldara. I had just started my period that morning (irregular bc I stopped birth control and wasn't expecting it for another week) so I didn't expect to be examined and just wanted to talk to her. I told her everything and she said that it sounded like it needed to be looked at.
Avatar n tn I've been reading information about Aldara and how it's only 50% effective. I've read from other people's personal statement that Aldara and there was this one instance when a lady reported 10 week into the treatment that aldara only started working when she started scratching or scraping off the genital warts. So is it safe to assume that it's better to puncture the warts then apply aldara, or will that only make it worse?
Avatar f tn I am just not happy with the slowness of Aldara and the fact I have new warts in an area that is hard for me to see or treat. The lame part is I made the appt. the day before my son will be getting an award at a local university, he is young they are just holding the ceremony there. LOL I felt the need to say I am not old enough to have a college student, yet! :) Anyway, I will be dressing up and sure the things wont be some comfortable down there that day.
Avatar m tn I have been using aldara for about a month on my genital warts and have had no burning or tenderness that I have heard people talk about on these forums. It has been working great and I am noticing my warts are starting to shrink. The other morning after using my aldara cream overnight I noticed a lump under my skin where I applied some aldara. It is very tender to touch and very noticeable.
Avatar m tn I only have one very noticable one thats been there for months, and maybe one or 2 little ones that could have just showed up recently. I was given aldara to get rid of them i just had a couple of questions....1. how possible is it for the warts to spread into my urethra? would there be any warning signs of this happening? Im sopposed to wash the aldara off in the mornings...what would be the best way to do this?
Avatar f tn I have genital HPV and I was treating the warts using Aldara. Applied a lot of the cream Monday to the outside of lower labia minora. Wednesday the labia was hard, swollen and really sore. Friday the swelling was reduced and in it place were 2 sore lesions located just inside the labia. I am now convinced it is herpes from looking at pictures online and reading the symptoms. I am also experiencing tingling down there too! I also have a decreased appetite although this could be from worry.
1306047 tn?1333243591 Greetings, I don't come around here much any more, but two/three years ago I was quite active on this forum. Recently I may have had another outbreak after 2 1/2 years without. Doctor gave me Aldara. Thought I'd pass my thoughts along. I've had warts burned off with nitrogen and cauterized as well. Aldara doesn't seem to be an alternative to me. First, you have to apply three nights a week for three months.
Avatar m tn Since I am traveling oversees for several months, I self-diagnosed, and bought a 1-month supply of Aldara 5% Cream from an OTC pharmacy, and have been applying that following the directions in the product insert (3x/week, overnight). What seems odd is that the shape of the 'bumps' are flat, only slightly raised, flesh-toned (i.e.
Avatar m tn I'm using aldara right now too, I am a female but my skin has started burning and bleeding too, I talked to my doctor and he said it's normal.
Avatar n tn I just found out I had HPV yesterday and had my warts frozen and was given aldara to use in two days time. My question was, when would it be ok to masturbate again, and when would it be ok to have sex again?

Avatar m tn It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
Avatar f tn I really thought I was a healthy person until these bumps showed up! The doctor prescribed me Aldara cream and I just started using it last week, she said it can take up to 8-16 weeks for the warts to go away. They're small bumps though so I hope it wouldn't take that long. My question is, for anybody that has used Aldara cream before, how effective is it?
Avatar m tn 1. My dermatologist told me to apply the aldara liberally to make sure that even the tiniest warts in the area are treated. I have read elsewhere to only apply to the warts, but i have also read that aldara seems to respect healthy skin and only attacks unhealthy skin. Which is true and should i continue applying the aldara liberally to the entire areas. 2. The areas that have crusted and flaked are red and raw. Do i continue putting the aldara on those regions or should i stop?
Avatar m tn hey im a 20 yr old male. i used aldara for genital warts and it has only made my life worse. i used it for about a month and a half and been off it for about 2 weeks. anyways it did not diminish my warts AND MOST IMPORTANTLY my penis is STILL really red and with a burning sensation and sensitivity down the shaft and base (which is not even where i applied the drug!). I have tried vitamin E oil but have now stopped cuz idk if it helped or made it worse......
Avatar m tn I used Aldara successfully and never got any redness, pain ,etc. I had a wart under a fingernail once and the Dr prescribed Aldara with a bandage over the finger to keep the medicine on and in two weeks it was gone. Some HPV (genital warts do not respond to Aldara or freezing and must be zapped with a CO2 laser or cut out or burned out with the Hyfrecator (sp?) All people with visible genital warts should have them removed ASAP as they can cause cancer in females AND males.
Avatar f tn She told me nothing else was wrong with my anus and sent me on my way - with a prescription for aldara. I started using the aldara that night (friday). A week later I was still having difficulties and went to another doctor. This doctor gave me a thorough exam. He found two large fissures at the entrance of my anus and prescribed a cream to help them heal, he also told me to increase fibre. I asked him to look at the warts - he told me there was no evidence whatsoever of warts.
Avatar m tn and after 2 weeks use i have had good results so far so if i were you i would go see your dermatologist if he recomends surgery set the date for about 1 1/2 months away and get them to prescribe you aldara in the meantime. use aldara and within 4 weeks if the warts have not reduced in size or started to clear then just go in for surgery.
Avatar m tn Have any of you ever used Aldara 5% cream? My dermatologist suggested it to determine if my mole was just an irritation or a skin cancer. After reading the package insert and doing some research online I was to scared to try it. If it is recommended to me again I am wondering if I should use it. Thanks!
