Aldara or efudex

Common Questions and Answers about Aldara or efudex

aldara

Avatar m tn Since this lesion has a history of slow growth, it is not considered particularly dangerous and since it seems to respond well to this very conservative treatment, what is wrong with what I am doing? Can I not just try Efudex and wait for a result one way or another? If it enlarges, can I not, at that time, have it surgically removed (by another surgeon) or must it be done just as soon as possible?
Avatar f tn I was prescribed Efudex by my dermatologist for what she thought was actinic cheilitis (turned out to be just chronically dry lips), but the Efudex was able to clear up that, and is supposed to be one of the main treatments for actinic cheilitis. Definitely talk to your doctor about what treatment is best for you, but if you end up with something like Efudex (chemical peel type treatment), check out www.redleprosy.wordpress.com.
365470 tn?1232747095 It can be treated by Curettage and desiccation, Radiation therapy, Cryosurgery, Mohs micrographic surgery Medical therapy using creams that attack cancer cells (5-Fluorouracil--5-FU, Efudex, Fluoroplex) or stimulate the immune system (Aldara). http://www.medicinenet.com/skin_cancer/page2.htm In case of any more information, pls do post us.
Avatar m tn My husband used Efudex cream (Fluorouracil 5%) on a few pre-cancerous spots on his face 2x per day, for four weeks back in March. We would like to start trying to conceive again but not sure how long we need to wait after using this cream. All product information says not to use if pregnant or wanting to become pregnant, but doesn't give time frames. Can you please advise how long it takes for his sperm to no longer be impacted by the use of Efudex cream?
Avatar f tn Please tell me if you think I have herpes or if it’s related to the Aldara. I’ve read that one can get herpes-like symptoms from Aldara. Is it normal to experience this a week after I’ve stopped using it? Is it normal for it to last this long? Is it possible? I’m very petrified, too petrified to go back to my gyno. Please help.
Avatar f tn At the very beginning of December I noticed one or two skin tag looking things, my GP said it could be GW and gave me aldara but said to go to a gyno to confirm. One week after using aldara the bumps disappeared, and I went to my GP a few more times the next few weeks and she too said everything looked clear. It took until late January to get into the gyno, she also assured me there was nothing there.
Avatar f tn i used aldara and the symptoms went away. i figured it would just stay kind of dormant for awhile but i dunno. i made an appointment with my schools campus doctor and now it's just to he point of being really nervous. if it is herpes...idk. :\ thank you for responding! but what else could it be? hopefully something a little more cureable than herpes right? im scared.
Avatar m tn If in doubt, see a health care provider. But stop using Aldara or anything else. Aldara will cause the area to be red and inflamed, making it much harder for a provider to know what is going on. Just keep the area clean with soap and water once a day. I hope this helps.
Avatar m tn Since it seems to result from shaving irritation, is it possible that this re-occurance is not from HPV, but just scar tissue from the previous treatment or some type of reaction? I ask because the Aldara cream does not seem to have any effect on the bumps themselves after 4 weeks of use, beyond irritating & darkening the adjacent skin where the buttocks meet. 2.
Avatar n tn I'd still say it could be a reaction to the Aldara, and how you are using it. You will just need to wait and see what the test results say.
Avatar n tn The HIV, Chlamydia, Syphilis, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C all were negative too. To people who used aldara and got what the doctor says or you think look like mild, hardly painful, herpes-like, weepy open sores, please don't be afraid and get a test done to calm your mind. Also, use Aldara according to instructions. Don't overuse it and make sure you wash it off well the next morning. Also, I would prefer nitro freezing than using a chemical.
Avatar f tn However, I think even in the medical world, many obgyns still think that squamous papilloma (or vp) is caused by hpv and treat it as warts. I am getting aldara treatment right now but I am extremely unsure of the diagnosis. How do I tell the difference?

Avatar m tn well i have been using aldara for about 2 weeks or so and my anal warts have dramatically decreased in size :) i did have bad side effects such as feeling tired and some body aches and really bad itching in the area causing me not to sleep at night but i stuck with it and its actually working somewhat. I did drastically change my diet though eating more vegetables and fruits and taking a daily vitamin and reducing alcohol intake and not smoking at all.
Avatar n tn Could this be a primary herpes outbreak or is it normal for the skin to react this way after ending aldara treatment? I experience minimal itching which i always have and no pain but to touch the affected ares is a little tender.
535760 tn?1213891166 Not wanting to experience this again i would like to try another option because i still have a few tiny warts left and noticed a couple new ones. Is aldara the best way to go? or maybe even cryo? I read aldara is very effective and even builds an immunity?
Avatar m tn is this something to be concerned about or should i continue using aldara and if these symptoms continue talk to my doctor or should i stop all together?
Avatar m tn As if HPV didnt make me feel crappy enough, lol. Has anyone had any similar experience with aldara on the butthole, or anywhere? Thanks!
Avatar m tn 3 weeks without aldara and it still hurts? Sounds absurd to me. Skin irritation should heal within 1 week or max. 2. Maybe you have another STD infection that you werent aware of, and please remember not all STDs show symptoms (sometimes chlamydia or GO dont show symptom if you have a mild infection). You should get tested for all STDs, including herpes/syfilis/GO/chlamydia, basically everything.
Avatar m tn i would ask the doctor that last question. remember that it is totally treatable what you have or see a dermatologist ok.
Avatar f tn I have 4 growths 2 larger and 2 smaller, she ruled out Herpes and was left believing it was either Molluscum or Gential Warts. She prescribed Aldara to me and I have been using it for the past 3 weeks which have made the bumps much smaller. I was also tested for Gonorrhea and Chlamydia, both tested negative. Sround the same time I had a medium to light grayish discharge that had a fishy odor especially after I showered. I've had no pain in this time.
Avatar f tn In theory, Aldara might be better at preventing recurrent warts, but in the real world there is no obvious difference in cure rate or recurrence rate between Aldara and any other treatment. If one method isn't working well, trying another makes sense. Aside from podophyllin and Aldara, other options are freezing, repeated laser- or electrocautery, and trichloroacetic acid.
Avatar n tn Hi. I used Aldara for two weeks and my warts went away. I didn't have to scratch or scrape. I don't think you should puncture them at all. The cream caused some severe skin reactions for me (and it was on my bum :( ) so I stopped using it two weeks in for about a week and then when I went to start applying the cream again the warts were gone.
Avatar m tn Oh and also how long should i expect for the aldara to start working or for me to see any results?
Avatar m tn We show that isostearic acid, a major component of the vehicle, promotes inflammasome activation in cultured keratinocytes, and so may contribute to the observed effects of Aldara on murine skin. Aldara therefore stimulates at least two immune pathways independently, and both imiquimod and vehicle are required for a full inflammatory response. Although it remains to be tested, it is possible that imiquimod-independent effects also contribute to the therapeutic efficacy of Aldara.
