aldara on face

Did the positive thinking truly work? I'm 19 and currently home to hundreds of flat warts on my face as well as a few on my hands and a few on my forearms. They remain rather invisible, but they are persistant and continue to spread. So far Retenoids, PDT, Aldara, and salicylic acid have not worked. I desperately wish to get them off me and return to my normal skinned self! Thanks!

Actinic keratoses are thickened, scaly, pre-cancerous patches of skin on the face and scalp, usually caused by too much sun exposure. Actinic keratoses are also known as solar keratoses. Aldara is used for several skin conditions. Your doctor will tell you where to apply Aldara cream, and how often and for how long to apply it for your condition. Aldara should be applied just before bedtime and left on the skin for 6-10 hours. If your skin condition reappears you need to talk to your doctor.

Aldara can be very hard on the skin. Its doubtful this is herpes, but you should have your doc take a look.

I'd return to the dermatologist for further evaluation to see what all is going on. if the aldara isn't working or you are somehow spreading it to other body parts by touching, perhaps you need these all surgically removed instead of trying the aldara to treat it. not to panic you but no easy way to ask this - do you have any underlying medical issues? also have you been tested for hiv?

I went to the doctor again 2 months ago and he suggested to use Aldara on it because he didn't keep a nitro gun. I had been using it for about 2 months when I developed this sore on my penis, size of a quater, but not round. There were no blisters but just a sore as if the skin had been peeled off.

several times and tried many treatments such as two boxes (24 sachets) of (Aldara 5% Cream) using it on MWF with no improvments. I also tried Locacid Solution and sometimes electirc burning, drinking Zinc,etc.. and there was no improvments as well.. An advice would be highly appreciated! this is a very common issue with aldara. odds are your lesion culture will come back negative for herpes. be very careful about applying it only on the actual wart and not on healthy skin to help prevent this reaction. It's not like desitin where the more the merrier when you are putting it on!

well i have been using aldara for about 2 weeks or so and my anal warts have dramatically decreased in size :) i did have bad side effects such as feeling tired and some body aches and really bad itching in the area causing me not to sleep at night but i stuck with it and its actually working somewhat. I did drastically change my diet though eating more vegetables and fruits and taking a daily vitamin and reducing alcohol intake and not smoking at all.

Also, my doctor did a pretty deep freeze of the warts before sending me home with Aldara. He said to start the next day right on top of the scabs/blisters, which was a Friday. The scabs fell off in a week and I was of course left with raw skin/tissue. Is this normal to put Aldara over an un-healed wound? Can I apply a tripple anti-biotic ointment to the wounds on days when I'm not using Aldara? Sorry for all the questions, thanks for any help.

I have had skin tags before appear on my face and have been removed, they came from the irritation of shaving and tanning but were benign. I think this is what the re-appearing skin tags on my anus have come from since I do shave the area and they look completely different from the Venereal Warts. Also, I have started noticing small white bumps on the inside, crease, of my lips. I am scared and worried that either the infection as spread or, worse, I could have herpes!

is there anything that could cause someone with no previous problems with skin tags to break out in a group of them down there? There are a few at the top of my Mons Pubis, one on my clitoral hood, but the rest (and a decent amount) are around my anus. There was one more in the area between my vagina and anus. On a completely seperate topic. I had protected sex with a girl several times in June. Not too long after the skin on the front of my sack (sorry for the nonmedical terms) tuned red and scaley. It started to itch like a rash, but burned if I touched it. I used Neosporin on on it to keep it from being dry and it seemed to work. After about a week it quit itching / burning and the skin got really flaky and eventually healed.

I am currently under a derm's care for about two months after suddenly, two red dots appeared on my nose and didn't clear. He said they were suspicious and froze them. What? are you applying Aldara on entire genital area? aldara is to be applied on the warts only and not the surrounding area... did a doctor diagnose you for genital warts and prescribed Aldara for you? If not so, please see a dermatologist and first get a correct diagnoses and talk to him about application of this cream... a mild irritation, soreness and itching is part of the healing process with this cream...

I have a few questions about using aldara. 1) is it harmful to shave on off days from using aldara? 2) Can shaving make the warts worse? 3) Is sex okay when the cream is not on the skin? Thank you!

I used aldara with great success. However, I have read it has a higher success rate in females than males. Still, I do not know how credible this information exactly is. I found using Aldara to clear up the majority of warts, and then using a different treatment (such as cryo) to clear any remaining warts seemed to be effective. I used a combination of TCA and Aldara, and have been wart free for a month now (took 3 months to entirely clear).

From then I still develop a few small warts around the anus and on the perineum right the vagina opening. I was prescribed aldara about 4 weeks ago but was not able to use it continuously because I also get the doctor to put podophilin on the warts when they are visible and that sometimes cause the irritation of the area, hence, I had to stop aldara for a few times already when that happened. I had my Pap Smear done 2 weeks ago and the test result was negative.

he said try some hydrocortisone ointment on the area and that sometimes the irritaion from aldara can take about 30days to 5 weeks to diminish.. so i guess its just the waiting game. seems to be getting better.

I have had genital warts for 5 years now and ive been using aldara for quite some time. aldara seems to work pretty well for the most part. while using aldara frequeantly i would experience some side effects like some pain or swelling after using it for a long period of time. i would stop the use and the redness/ swelling would go away and i would contine use and everything would be okay.

Went to the doctor in June of this year and she prescribed with Aldara because she thought it was molluscum contagiosum which I was told to put on 3 times a week. So I started using the cream and noticed no difference on my inner thighs or butt. But when I put it on my labia it turned into a sore and is terribly itching and burning now and now has a lump/bulge. No idea what it is or how I can help the burning and itching which is causing a lot of pain.

How did you apply it? Did you just put it on the spots or did you put it all over? Aldara can cause reactions like this, and therefore should only be used when you are certain its warts. You might need to get this checked by a doctor to rule out infection. If you hadn't applied aldara, I'd say get checked for herpes, but I doubt its herpes.

Im a 19 year old male and i was diagnosed with Molluscum Contagiosum about 5 months ago on my genitals. I used Aldara cream which got rid of most of them and im basically clear of them however now on the shaft of my penis there is a spot where the skin is very raw looking. i put polysporin on it to help it heal. I was just wondering if anyone knew if this was normal after having Molluscum. Thanks for your time.

Hi. I used Aldara for two weeks and my warts went away. I didn't have to scratch or scrape. I don't think you should puncture them at all. The cream caused some severe skin reactions for me (and it was on my bum :( ) so I stopped using it two weeks in for about a week and then when I went to start applying the cream again the warts were gone.

I had this nightmare problem for 8 months. They were going to perform surgery on me on the 11th and I had them frozen several times. It was bad. Like 40 at least. You know what worked for me in a week? I used Aldara every 3 days. And you know how it's a slow burn? Well I also used Salicylic Acid every 4 hours which stopped the Aldara side effects of itching and burning.
