Common Questions and Answers about Aldara molluscum contagiosum

aldara

Avatar n tn Im a 19 year old male and i was diagnosed with Molluscum Contagiosum about 5 months ago on my genitals. I used Aldara cream which got rid of most of them and im basically clear of them however now on the shaft of my penis there is a spot where the skin is very raw looking. i put polysporin on it to help it heal. I was just wondering if anyone knew if this was normal after having Molluscum. Thanks for your time.
Avatar f tn i have received cryotherapy and aldara cream for treatment of molluscum contagiosum a week ago to the date... the scabs have fallen off but there is still a lot of redness on the open skin and can still see the white bumps inside the open scab... does this mean i will have to undergo another cryotherapy again? how long does it usually take for cryotherapy to heal and is there anyway of speeding up the healing process?
Avatar m tn All tests came negative except from chlamydia, gonorrhea and molluscum contagiosum. My doctor give antibiotics(dyxycycline etc) to me and aldara cream for molluscum contagiosum bumps around my genitals. What concerns me is the fact that the previous day of the test I had a last encounter with a csw and we did protected oral and protected vaginal sex.

Avatar n tn t genital warts because of the way they looked and told me that it looks like Molluscum Contagiosum virus. She even perscribed me a topical ointment called Aldara to use every other day on the spots. It's been a little over a month and there is no improvement. I am so self conscious about these bumps and they're now spreading down my upper thighs. I'm going to the bahamas in December and I want to be able to wear a swim suit on the beach.
Avatar m tn Ok so i have Molluscum. The past few months I've been itching down in my groin area mostly on my shaft, but didn't know what it was. So finally i got the balls to goto the doctor and get it checked out. Well what do you know its Molluscum. Doctor prescribes me Aldara. It's been 1 week so far and it had already spread to my pubic area and a little on my happy trail. I'm trying to be calm about this but reading these forums is pissing me off.
Avatar m tn Aldara will only clear up small MC bumps, not large MC bumps, which will have to be treated with freezing and/or other removal methods. Although I do intend to keep freezing them, I reached an agreement with the dermatologist that I would use Aldara in between appointments as discussed. He gave me a prescription and I now have Aldara. When i was talking to him about what you had said in regards to MC in general, He said the following.
Avatar f tn Went to the doctor in June of this year and she prescribed with Aldara because she thought it was molluscum contagiosum which I was told to put on 3 times a week. So I started using the cream and noticed no difference on my inner thighs or butt. But when I put it on my labia it turned into a sore and is terribly itching and burning now and now has a lump/bulge. No idea what it is or how I can help the burning and itching which is causing a lot of pain.
Avatar m tn molluscum contagiosum, whats the best way to have it treated if you are looking to avoid the cutting and nitrogen. The urologist said it will go away on it own eventually and I did some searching and saw some stuff about tea tree oil and such?
Avatar m tn hey im a 21 yr old male. i have been using aldara one two very small genital warts (applying as little as possible with a toothpick). anyways despite best efforts the cream has gotten on other parts of my skin near the warts and has almost bleached it white... I have decided to stop using it for this reason even though the warts are not completely gone (i hate aldara now).
Avatar m tn I went for the first time to see a Nurse Practitioner, and told her I thought it was Molluscum Contagiosum... and then... she visually diagnosed me with molluscum. But im having second thoughts now, apparently dimples in the center of the bumps are a tell-tale sign they are Molluscum, but I dont see any dimples. These bumps are really small, 1-2mm?. I left a message with the nurse this evening, asking for a referral to see a Urologist or Dermatologist.
Avatar m tn Hello, It can be contact dermatitis, rash due to friction rub, folliculitis, cysts ,molluscum contagiosum(multiple, small, dome-shaped papules, often with a central depression or plug) or genital warts(caused by HPV infection). Apply warm compresses, Neosporin ointment and calamine lotion and avoid messing with it. You can take anti-inflammatory pain killers like ibuprofen or acetaminophen. If the lumps persist then it will be best to get it evaluated from a dermatologist. I hope it helps.
Avatar f tn ll i ended up seeing a doctor for it and she told me that it was something called Molluscum contagiosum. She said it was viral and get it from skin to skin contact. She also popped a few of them and told me to scrape the white part out and said that's the only way to get rid of them. I felt relived until i went home and got on the internet and learned how long this horrible thing would last; and also how I can't have sex.
Avatar m tn My question is do you think that this could be an STD or some sort of irritation from the sex or natural occurance? Also I had Molluscum Contagiosum (misspelled prob) once and treated it with aldara and since I saw these areas of concern this morning I applied it to the areas just in case since I had some cream left over. Am I just over inspecting possibly? I wouldn't think that any STD would show this soon but thought I would ask regardless.
Avatar m tn Hello, From the appearance it looked like folliculitis. Molluscum contagiosum is a common, benign, self limiting viral infection of the skin. The characteristic description of the rashes is the central depression or plug. You can get a skin biopsy as well as culture sensitivity of the discharge from the molluscum done. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
Avatar n tn Friend 1 smoked from a bowl with my other friend (who has molluscum contagiosum) the same night. Call the friend with molluscum contagiosum friend 2. I heard that molluscum contagiosum can be transmitted through saliva, but I am not sure. Am I in danger of contracting molluscum contagiosum? I rinsed my mouth out with Listerine as soon as I arrived home. Also, I only made out with the girls for about a minute. Additionally, friend 2 only has mollusca on his lower abdomen.
Avatar m tn Hello, Without examination, confirmation of a diagnosis is tough but it can be contact dermatitis, rash due to friction rub, folliculitis, cysts ,molluscum contagiosum(multiple, small, dome-shaped papules, often with a central depression or plug) or genital warts(caused by HPV infection). Apply warm compresses,Neosporin ointment and calamine lotion and avoid messing with it.Your boyfriend can take anti-inflammatory pain killers like ibuprofen or acetaminophen.

Avatar n tn I have recently been diagnosed with Molluscum Contagiosum in the genital region and was sprayed the same day with liquid nitrogen at the dermatologist's office to treat it. I first noticed the spots a few weeks before my visit to the dermatologists office. I have been with my current girlfriend for about 5 months but am confident I didn't contract it from her seeing how I have never noticed the bumps characteristic of molluscum on her before.
Avatar m tn Molluscum contagiosum is caused by a virus. It is most common in young children, in whom it is transmitted by saliva shows up on the face, typically in kids in day care. People who don't have childhood infections remain susceptible, and in adults most infections are in the genital area -- just as in your case, often on the lower abdomen, pubic area, thighs, etc. Transmission is a little uncertain.
Avatar n tn I had what I thought was a skin tag removed from the side of my vagina in July, 2007. It came back as Molluscum Contagiosum. I also had one on my arm and one on my foot a few month's ealier but those had gone away on their own. I didn't really think anything of them at the time because I didn't know what they were. I had sex twice, more then 1 1/2 years ago in July '06 which seems so long ago but that had to be how I got it.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with molluscum contagiosum about a month ago, and I had symptoms for about 4 months until the dr. told me what it was, they were burned off, and the few that were still aroud after that visit i took care of personally with tea tree oil and iodine, i have not had symptoms for about 2 weeks. Until about 3 days ago i noticed a small red looking bloch on the under part of my penis shaft.
