Common Questions and Answers about Aldara hair loss

aldara

Avatar m tn If in doubt, see a health care provider. But stop using Aldara or anything else. Aldara will cause the area to be red and inflamed, making it much harder for a provider to know what is going on. Just keep the area clean with soap and water once a day. I hope this helps.
Avatar m tn I have a few questions about using aldara. 1) is it harmful to shave on off days from using aldara? 2) Can shaving make the warts worse? 3) Is sex okay when the cream is not on the skin? Thank you!
Avatar m tn I have been using aldara for about a month on my genital warts and have had no burning or tenderness that I have heard people talk about on these forums. It has been working great and I am noticing my warts are starting to shrink. The other morning after using my aldara cream overnight I noticed a lump under my skin where I applied some aldara. It is very tender to touch and very noticeable.
Avatar f tn At the very beginning of December I noticed one or two skin tag looking things, my GP said it could be GW and gave me aldara but said to go to a gyno to confirm. One week after using aldara the bumps disappeared, and I went to my GP a few more times the next few weeks and she too said everything looked clear. It took until late January to get into the gyno, she also assured me there was nothing there.
Avatar n tn I also took blood test for HIV however I am waiting for my result. I have mostly near pubic hair and some about 5 or 6 in genital area. They are about white, pointy, 2 to 6 mm in diameter. First time I saw those when I decided to shave my pubic hair in first week of jan. I went to see my Primary Care after a week he told me it is folliculitis. I waited a month but no resolution or going away so I decided to see a dermatologist and he diagnose the MC.
Avatar n tn I am at a loss what to do, the biopsy was high risk hpv, the site has been treated 2-3 times, the Aldara cleared a smaller wart near the biopsy site and Aldara has the lowest recurrence percentage of any treatment. I will try to get in to see the dermatologist ASAP, but should I ask for a biopsy to confirm? He may just want to freeze it, but I can t seem to clear the infection. Are there HPV experts I can go see? I am in the greater Washington DC area. What do you recommend?
Avatar n tn I just want to be able to eliminate the mass of pubic hair without causing warts to arise. I have used shaving cream to cover it and then shave it off and it still causes warts. It's really a horrible virus to have.
Avatar m tn Hello! A friend of mine has the following question/problem with her cat. He's 17, and I believe a Cornish Rex (looks like hehas no hair, although he does have fine/very short hair). He's had some skin condition that his vet thinks is cancer, and said the main treatment was surgery, but due to his age (and, unfortunately, the expense involved--last year alone, she's spent over $2000 on vet bills), that's not a viable option for her.
Avatar m tn and after 2 weeks use i have had good results so far so if i were you i would go see your dermatologist if he recomends surgery set the date for about 1 1/2 months away and get them to prescribe you aldara in the meantime. use aldara and within 4 weeks if the warts have not reduced in size or started to clear then just go in for surgery.
535760 tn?1213891166 I used aldara with great success. However, I have read it has a higher success rate in females than males. Still, I do not know how credible this information exactly is. I found using Aldara to clear up the majority of warts, and then using a different treatment (such as cryo) to clear any remaining warts seemed to be effective. I used a combination of TCA and Aldara, and have been wart free for a month now (took 3 months to entirely clear).
Avatar n tn I have had genital warts for 5 years now and ive been using aldara for quite some time. aldara seems to work pretty well for the most part. while using aldara frequeantly i would experience some side effects like some pain or swelling after using it for a long period of time. i would stop the use and the redness/ swelling would go away and i would contine use and everything would be okay.
Avatar n tn I have recently been using Aldara cream to try and eliminate my genital warts (HPV). Although the warts minimised in size after three months my doctor told me to stop using aldara because of the ineffectiveness and incredible sores and lesions that i endured whilst treatment. He reccomended me to a dermatologist for the treatment of the HPV.
Avatar f tn He took my virginity and gave me genital warts. I was treated a year later with aldara. The three warts disappeared, and I genuinely thought they were gone for good. After having sex again, these skin flaps appeared around the entrance of my vagina. I can't tell whether they are warts or skin flaps/remnants of my hymen. I would post pictures but I don't know how?
Avatar m tn Sounds more like folliculitis or some other superficial infection -- and for such a problem, Aldara is the last thing you should be using. Stop the Aldara and see a health care provider.
Avatar m tn We show that isostearic acid, a major component of the vehicle, promotes inflammasome activation in cultured keratinocytes, and so may contribute to the observed effects of Aldara on murine skin. Aldara therefore stimulates at least two immune pathways independently, and both imiquimod and vehicle are required for a full inflammatory response. Although it remains to be tested, it is possible that imiquimod-independent effects also contribute to the therapeutic efficacy of Aldara.
Avatar m tn What? are you applying Aldara on entire genital area? aldara is to be applied on the warts only and not the surrounding area... did a doctor diagnose you for genital warts and prescribed Aldara for you? If not so, please see a dermatologist and first get a correct diagnoses and talk to him about application of this cream... a mild irritation, soreness and itching is part of the healing process with this cream...
Avatar m tn dont use aldara. I think ACV even does better than aldara although some people here would disagree with my opinion. You can get mini surgery like electrocauterization, cryotherapy, or use podofin and its variants. These three, afaik, are better than anything else to treat warts.
Avatar m tn hi there i have recently been using aldara cream for my anal warts (HPV) I have used it twice so far friday and monday. And today (tuesday) i have been feeling muscle pain, and i guess some kind of fever i feel cold or hot at various times of the day but i can function... but during the weekend i did play soccer and hockey and did sweat a lot and ran a lot.
Avatar f tn I have these very small red bumps around my vestibule. They are just a few of them and they aren't symmetrically distributed. I wouldn't even notice them if they weren't so painful to touch, which makes sex impossible. I have been to several doctors and their opinions are controversial, the one says "Yes, they are warts.
Avatar m tn i have noticed some bumps in the side of my scrotum, a few in my pubic hair, and sevreal verrrry tiny ones around the bottom of the shaft/on scrotum. i went to the dr and he said it didnt look like hpv. they can itch some but i do shave my scrotum, have for years. not sure if its mental or what. any suggestions?
Avatar m tn t sure whether or not it was actually a recurrence or just scar tissue from previously removed warts. He looked at them and said he believed they were in fact warts and proposed Aldara to treat them. He also claimed that I could have recurrences for the rest of my life and made other statements based on facts, that having frequented this forum as well as the ask an expert forum, I know to be outdated info or flat out myths.
Avatar n tn Hi. I used Aldara for two weeks and my warts went away. I didn't have to scratch or scrape. I don't think you should puncture them at all. The cream caused some severe skin reactions for me (and it was on my bum :( ) so I stopped using it two weeks in for about a week and then when I went to start applying the cream again the warts were gone.
Avatar m tn All test came back negative and the doctor diagnosed the condition as Molluscum and prescribed Aldara. The burning went away but I still have the bumps to this day and I also developed some bumps that look like Molluscum on my arms and neck. The Aldara suppressed the bumps temporarily but they have continued to go away for a month or two at a time and then re-appear. I have seen another doctor a few times. He diagnosed the bumps as Genital Warts and he treated the bumps with acid.
