aldara

Avatar f tn Welcome to the STD forum. Sorry to hear your difficulties and uncertainties about your genital warts. Try not to let it get you down; this won't go on indefinitely and all will be well. And congratulations on starting Gardasil. Warts are not especially common in the vagina, except on the cervix. If visible warts haven't appeared in those locations by now, most likely they will not. Any additional warts that you develop will not be from re-catching the virus from your partner.
4437866 tn?1388119624 Sorry to hear bout what you been going through. I myself have warts as well and still treating it with aldara for 3x a day, but since you're pregnant, i dont know if it's advisable for you to use it since aldara is a strong treatment for genital warts. Have you tried to go to another doctor for second opinion since your doctor doesn't want to take action for it?
Avatar m tn I've been using Aldara for over two weeks now and am experiencing absolutely no side effects at all. Now I'm not disappointed believe me, but the one and only nice thing about side effects is that they indicate that whatever you are using is not "working" per-se but that it's doing *something*. Is this normal? Also, my doctor did a pretty deep freeze of the warts before sending me home with Aldara.
1306047 tn?1333243591 I remember you from the past on this forum. Aldara can have side effects that you mention and was never something I was going to use. I agree with freezing or burning them off. The sooner they are gone, the better.
Avatar m tn If in doubt, see a health care provider. But stop using Aldara or anything else. Aldara will cause the area to be red and inflamed, making it much harder for a provider to know what is going on. Just keep the area clean with soap and water once a day. I hope this helps.
Avatar f tn At the very beginning of December I noticed one or two skin tag looking things, my GP said it could be GW and gave me aldara but said to go to a gyno to confirm. One week after using aldara the bumps disappeared, and I went to my GP a few more times the next few weeks and she too said everything looked clear. It took until late January to get into the gyno, she also assured me there was nothing there.
Avatar f tn If the bump is not obviously shrinking after 3-4 Aldara treatments, probably it isn't going to respond at all. I would reemphasize my advice above: see a dermatologist. It is conceivable it's more than either a wart or skin tag, but something more serious, such as a pre-cancerous skin lesion. Don't be alarmed at that prospect; such cancers are very easily cured long before they might cause serious harm.
Avatar m tn Hey everyone. I have posted on here before about my HPV. I was given aldara a couple months back and have been using it regularly since then. My question is how do I know when I can quit? I stopped for about a week when I went on vacation and forgot my packets and on the trip all my redness went away and things started looking better. When I got home and started using again it came right back. How di I know when I can quit? once the wart is gone... one the packets are all used? THanks!
Avatar n tn Welcome to the Forum. Aldara tends to work best in warts which have recently appeared and it's activity is, at least in part, correlated with the reaction that it generates. If you have been using Aldara for 4 weeks with no effect and little local reaction, it is time to try something else such as freezing with liquid nitrogen. In answer to your specific questions however: 1. No, the location has little to do with response.
Avatar f tn I really thought I was a healthy person until these bumps showed up! The doctor prescribed me Aldara cream and I just started using it last week, she said it can take up to 8-16 weeks for the warts to go away. They're small bumps though so I hope it wouldn't take that long. My question is, for anybody that has used Aldara cream before, how effective is it?
Avatar m tn So, unfortunately I was diagnosed with genital warts a little over a month ago. I thought at first the warts were just right outside of my vagina, but after inspection, I'm realizing that I think there are some inside... not substantial though. I'm EXTEMELY PARANOID THOUGH. I was perscribed Aldara Cream for my external warts. I dont feel like they are spreading but I'm really not seeing much improvement with the warts.... Honestly I'm not really sure what to expect........
Avatar n tn I noticed small warts on my penis about 1 month ago..doctor prescribed aldara...since then I've had about 10 more grow out..what the hell is up with this crappy *** drug they prescribe to patients??? I took all the STD tests and came out negative...
Avatar m tn t bother using Aldara if they recommend it - it has low success rates for mcv in adults. Trust me, I have had this for like 10 months and tried Aldara for nearly 6 months of it with only a few going away (which was probably coincidence). I just had them scrapped off the other day and it feels great not to worry about this anymore. Hit me up if you have any more questions - I have extensively researched mcv.
Avatar n tn Dr. Handsfield and I share the forum. By chance you got me. FYI, the reason we share the forum is because we have worked together for nearly 30 years and while our verbiage styles vary, we have never disagreed on management strategies or advice to clients. I think these concerns are best addressed by starting at the beginning. With all due respect to the nurse who has been providing you with care, these may or may not be warts.
Avatar m tn I used Aldara successfully and never got any redness, pain ,etc. I had a wart under a fingernail once and the Dr prescribed Aldara with a bandage over the finger to keep the medicine on and in two weeks it was gone. Some HPV (genital warts do not respond to Aldara or freezing and must be zapped with a CO2 laser or cut out or burned out with the Hyfrecator (sp?) All people with visible genital warts should have them removed ASAP as they can cause cancer in females AND males.
Avatar n tn I wouldn't use a BIC razor anywhere. I'm not real sure what you mean about grooming (I'm new to all this forum stuff) but for a bikini line legs or under arms a more expensive razor is far less likely to leave bumps.
Avatar f tn I have 4 growths 2 larger and 2 smaller, she ruled out Herpes and was left believing it was either Molluscum or Gential Warts. She prescribed Aldara to me and I have been using it for the past 3 weeks which have made the bumps much smaller. I was also tested for Gonorrhea and Chlamydia, both tested negative. Sround the same time I had a medium to light grayish discharge that had a fishy odor especially after I showered. I've had no pain in this time.
Avatar m tn After my last session of cryotherapy (treatment took about 18 months) I used Aldara and applied it to where I had seen warts, but also applied it liberally to this little scar (just in case, I thought). I guess I was too liberal because I developed an ulcer in that spot and went to the doctor immediately. He confirmed that it was from the over use of Aldara, and swabbed the ulcer for a PCR test to see if it was previous site of a wart.
Avatar m tn and after 2 weeks use i have had good results so far so if i were you i would go see your dermatologist if he recomends surgery set the date for about 1 1/2 months away and get them to prescribe you aldara in the meantime. use aldara and within 4 weeks if the warts have not reduced in size or started to clear then just go in for surgery.
535760 tn?1213891166 I used aldara with great success. However, I have read it has a higher success rate in females than males. Still, I do not know how credible this information exactly is. I found using Aldara to clear up the majority of warts, and then using a different treatment (such as cryo) to clear any remaining warts seemed to be effective. I used a combination of TCA and Aldara, and have been wart free for a month now (took 3 months to entirely clear).
Avatar n tn I have had genital warts for 5 years now and ive been using aldara for quite some time. aldara seems to work pretty well for the most part. while using aldara frequeantly i would experience some side effects like some pain or swelling after using it for a long period of time. i would stop the use and the redness/ swelling would go away and i would contine use and everything would be okay.
Avatar n tn I have recently been using Aldara cream to try and eliminate my genital warts (HPV). Although the warts minimised in size after three months my doctor told me to stop using aldara because of the ineffectiveness and incredible sores and lesions that i endured whilst treatment. He reccomended me to a dermatologist for the treatment of the HPV.
Avatar m tn We show that isostearic acid, a major component of the vehicle, promotes inflammasome activation in cultured keratinocytes, and so may contribute to the observed effects of Aldara on murine skin. Aldara therefore stimulates at least two immune pathways independently, and both imiquimod and vehicle are required for a full inflammatory response. Although it remains to be tested, it is possible that imiquimod-independent effects also contribute to the therapeutic efficacy of Aldara.
