Aldara for plantar wart

Common Questions and Answers about Aldara for plantar wart

aldara

Avatar n tn m not saying it will work for everyone, my doctor said as much, but it is a damn joke that this treatment exists and you have doctors charging you up the wazoo for laser surgery, surgical excision, Big Pharma charging you $300 bucks for a supply of Aldara or Veregen with spotty, suspect results. If your doctor won't give you the Candida antigen injection, get another doctor.
Avatar f tn You wrote: "This could be a plantar wart. A plantar wart (also verruca plantaris or verruca) is a wart caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV) occurring on the sole or toes of the foot. Plantar warts are generally harmless and self-limiting, but should be treated to lessen symptoms (which may become painful)." Does that mean that anyone who has had a plantar wart has HPV and is contagious? Is this the same as genital HPV?
Avatar n tn ve had literally no intimate physical contact with anyone but my fiance. Six years ago I had a Plantar Wart removed from my foot, is it possible that this is a residual infection from that? If this is genital warts, will I continue to have outbreaks for the rest of my life? Is it possible I can transmit this to someone else through regular physical touch? I know this sounds extreme, but I feel a bit like my identity as a clean, healthy person has crumpled. I really need some guidance.
Avatar f tn Can a Plantar Wart be spread to someone, causing them to have either a wart on their face or body? Or are Plantar Warts spread as Plantar Warts? (If one touches the surface of an object that a plantar wart has touched, can one contract a wart on their face? or is it only possible to contract a plantar wart?
736128 tn?1232158671 Tight, closely fitting shoes can also create a breeding ground for warts. If a plantar wart causes difficulty walking, see a doctor. In the case of a plantar wart, a doctor needs to distinguish between corns, calluses, and warts. Usually, a physician can diagnose a plantar wart by its appearance, but if necessary, he or she can scrape the skin and send the sample to a lab for inspection. Plantar warts are one of six main categories of warts.
Avatar m tn When do i stop using the aldara? I was proscribed enough for 16 weeks but i am not sure if i should just continue using the cream for the whole 16 weeks even if all the affected areas have started to erode and turn red and raw or if i should discontinue using it and see if any newer warts develop.
Avatar n tn 1) If the irritated areas were in fact Aldara acting on a wart would that be grounds to "reset the clock" and start counting to 6 months from 0? 2) This third bump where I once had a wart...if it has been there as long as 6 months (or at least the 4 I thought I was wart free) but just picked off, is this grounds for "starting the 6 month clock" again?
Avatar m tn I have a plantar wart as a small bump under the skin on my sole, the skin is still smooth but You can feel the bump under the skin, there is no scaling or rash or anything like that, just a bumped surface under the skin. Would I be at risk of std if someone licks my foot and the area within the wart?

Avatar m tn Thank you for the prompt, helpful response to my concern. It's much appreciated.
Avatar f tn I washed my hands right after noticing the wart, but I’m a little concerned. Could his plantar wart possibly spread to my hand? And if I did happen to get a wart on my hand from this, would I need to worry about spreading that wart to other areas of my body, such as the genitals or mouth? Any answers would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Avatar f tn aldara is very irritating to the skin sometimes. Your doctor thinking it could be herpes is a very common thing. Better to err on the side of caution though. You've both been tested for herpes before so the chances of this being genital herpes is very low. Not sure if either of you tested + for hsv1 or not on your testing you had done. We will gladly look at both ofyour herpes blood tests from back when you were tested if youw ant a 2nd opinion on them too.
Avatar m tn HPV infections back and forth. However, Aldara treatment is likely to be irritating and for comfort it would be best to avoid sexual contact with the infected tissues if she develops soreness etc at the treatment sites.
Avatar f tn I have a plantar wart on my right heel. It's so painful. I've had it a year now. In the beginning I thought it was a heel spur. The pain is terrible and stabbing, even when I'm sitting. Waking is hard, I put most weight in my front of my foot. I walk weird at work. It's only one plantar wart but I get rid of it with wart remover and it keeps coming back. I get like a day or two almost pain free then it's back. Waiting for my insurance to kick in so I can go to a Dr.
Avatar n tn I am at a loss what to do, the biopsy was high risk hpv, the site has been treated 2-3 times, the Aldara cleared a smaller wart near the biopsy site and Aldara has the lowest recurrence percentage of any treatment. I will try to get in to see the dermatologist ASAP, but should I ask for a biopsy to confirm? He may just want to freeze it, but I can t seem to clear the infection. Are there HPV experts I can go see? I am in the greater Washington DC area. What do you recommend?
Avatar n tn Since my doctor (nurse practioner who I see instead of a doctor actually) treated the wart with Aldara, and I was given Aldara to take home and use on the spot, should I not necessarily assume it was a wart? The second time, she wasn't sure if it was a wart or skin tag. How can you really know for sure what it is - a biopsy or if your Pap smear comes back abnormal?
Avatar f tn I have a plantar wart (atleast I'm pretty sure I do) on my left foot it's been there for years now I'm 17 I remember having it since I was 12 the thing is I tried freeze away stuff, I even tried to dig it up with tweezers .there is just one on my foot (kinda below my big toe but not right under it) .
Avatar n tn I had a diagnosed condyloma back in 10/07 which was treated with Aldara in 11/07. Now in 03/08 I think I may have another wart, but not in the exact spot I had the previous wart. My question is, if it is a recurrent condyloma, can it reoccur in another spot or does it always reoccur in the same spot? Since I have been sexually active with a monogamous partner since that time could we be giving this infection to each other back & forth? My partner was checked without any diagnosis before.
Avatar f tn I would see a podiatrist for this. It isn't typical of anything I'm familiar with, and I've had a plantar wart and I've had psoriasis. Remember you could get a skin cancer on your foot although this doesn't look like a melanoma. But it might be something slower growing, like a basal cell, so have it treated. They may need to biopsy it, but go and do it. Remember to elevate the foot if it has surgery. It will not heal if you don't elevate.
Avatar m tn Hi I've been using Aldara for 3 applications now for what I believe are genital warts under my foreskin just below the ridge, they are only small. Up to now nothing has happened, no reaction, no itching no reddening of area nothing at all. I was expecting some sort of reaction or change with it being such a strong medicine. Is this normal?
Avatar m tn Oh you shouldn't be using it on healthy skin, so if the wart is gone, you can stop the aldara. Give your doctor a call though to double check, or post in the HPV forum.
535760 tn?1213891166 I found using Aldara to clear up the majority of warts, and then using a different treatment (such as cryo) to clear any remaining warts seemed to be effective. I used a combination of TCA and Aldara, and have been wart free for a month now (took 3 months to entirely clear). Aldara has some discomfort associated with it, but I found it less painful than TCA (though much more itchy!). Any treatment for genital warts is uncomfortable though.
Avatar n tn Thank you so much for your advice, I am sure now it is a plantar wart and am having it treated.
