Avatar f tn i have received cryotherapy and aldara cream for treatment of molluscum contagiosum a week ago to the date... the scabs have fallen off but there is still a lot of redness on the open skin and can still see the white bumps inside the open scab... does this mean i will have to undergo another cryotherapy again? how long does it usually take for cryotherapy to heal and is there anyway of speeding up the healing process?
Avatar m tn All tests came negative except from chlamydia, gonorrhea and molluscum contagiosum. My doctor give antibiotics(dyxycycline etc) to me and aldara cream for molluscum contagiosum bumps around my genitals. What concerns me is the fact that the previous day of the test I had a last encounter with a csw and we did protected oral and protected vaginal sex.

Avatar n tn t genital warts because of the way they looked and told me that it looks like Molluscum Contagiosum virus. She even perscribed me a topical ointment called Aldara to use every other day on the spots. It's been a little over a month and there is no improvement. I am so self conscious about these bumps and they're now spreading down my upper thighs. I'm going to the bahamas in December and I want to be able to wear a swim suit on the beach.
Avatar m tn 3) Other treatments are available. Ask your dermatologist about a prescription for imiquimod (trade name Aldara). Or ask himn to show you how to treat new lesions yourself, by pricking the top with a sterile needle then pressing out the white core just as you would with a pimple. (We often teach this to patients this in my STD clinic.) Wash your hands and the genital area after treating lesions in this way, to avoid spreading the virus around.
Avatar f tn Went to the doctor in June of this year and she prescribed with Aldara because she thought it was molluscum contagiosum which I was told to put on 3 times a week. So I started using the cream and noticed no difference on my inner thighs or butt. But when I put it on my labia it turned into a sore and is terribly itching and burning now and now has a lump/bulge. No idea what it is or how I can help the burning and itching which is causing a lot of pain.
Avatar m tn molluscum contagiosum, whats the best way to have it treated if you are looking to avoid the cutting and nitrogen. The urologist said it will go away on it own eventually and I did some searching and saw some stuff about tea tree oil and such?
Avatar m tn He actually prescribed aldara (which was embarassing for me to get b/c he told me it was prescribed for vaginal warts!). It worked great, it dries them up over a few applications to where it is almost "scabby" and flakes off. Can be a little uncomfortable because of the drying effects so maybe work on a few spots at a time. He also told me it was contagious but I touched them on my daughter and never caught them. Basically they come from an internal type virus.
Avatar m tn d like to get a culture test or something to make absolutely sure!. Medication for Molluscum is terrifying (Aldara/Imiquimod is not only expensive, but will leave me looking like a belong in the burn ward) PLEASE tell me that you've figured this out!?, and please tell me they've gone away!? Has anyone else had these symptoms? Any ideas?
Avatar m tn Hello, It can be contact dermatitis, rash due to friction rub, folliculitis, cysts ,molluscum contagiosum(multiple, small, dome-shaped papules, often with a central depression or plug) or genital warts(caused by HPV infection). Apply warm compresses, Neosporin ointment and calamine lotion and avoid messing with it. You can take anti-inflammatory pain killers like ibuprofen or acetaminophen. If the lumps persist then it will be best to get it evaluated from a dermatologist. I hope it helps.
Avatar f tn Would buying an over-the-counter wart remover be safe and effective in getting rid of Molluscum or should I just go down and get the Aldara for 75$? I ask these questions because it appears more are forming and I'd like to get rid of them ASAP. Sorry for all the questions, I cannot seem to find the answers anywhere on the internet. Thanks again.
Avatar f tn ll i ended up seeing a doctor for it and she told me that it was something called Molluscum contagiosum. She said it was viral and get it from skin to skin contact. She also popped a few of them and told me to scrape the white part out and said that's the only way to get rid of them. I felt relived until i went home and got on the internet and learned how long this horrible thing would last; and also how I can't have sex.
Avatar m tn My question is do you think that this could be an STD or some sort of irritation from the sex or natural occurance? Also I had Molluscum Contagiosum (misspelled prob) once and treated it with aldara and since I saw these areas of concern this morning I applied it to the areas just in case since I had some cream left over. Am I just over inspecting possibly? I wouldn't think that any STD would show this soon but thought I would ask regardless.
Avatar m tn m concerned about primarily, is how this could be folliculitis and not molluscum (although I would clearly prefer for it to be folliculitis). My previous infection was confirmed as molluscum, and there were at least 10-15 bumps that were confirmed as such. When I started lifeguarding, and the bumps started spreading, I thought it was the molluscum that was spreading, due to all of the information I had taken in from my doctor and from the internet on ease of autoinoculation.
Avatar m tn My started after receving oral sex for about 40 secs. I have this red spots that come and goes for 8 months now. I went to several docs and I still have them. Did u find out what it is? Please let me know!
Avatar n tn Friend 1 smoked from a bowl with my other friend (who has molluscum contagiosum) the same night. Call the friend with molluscum contagiosum friend 2. I heard that molluscum contagiosum can be transmitted through saliva, but I am not sure. Am I in danger of contracting molluscum contagiosum? I rinsed my mouth out with Listerine as soon as I arrived home. Also, I only made out with the girls for about a minute. Additionally, friend 2 only has mollusca on his lower abdomen.
Avatar m tn Hello, Without examination, confirmation of a diagnosis is tough but it can be contact dermatitis, rash due to friction rub, folliculitis, cysts ,molluscum contagiosum(multiple, small, dome-shaped papules, often with a central depression or plug) or genital warts(caused by HPV infection). Apply warm compresses,Neosporin ointment and calamine lotion and avoid messing with it.Your boyfriend can take anti-inflammatory pain killers like ibuprofen or acetaminophen.
Avatar m tn Molluscum contagiosum is caused by a virus. It is most common in young children, in whom it is transmitted by saliva shows up on the face, typically in kids in day care. People who don't have childhood infections remain susceptible, and in adults most infections are in the genital area -- just as in your case, often on the lower abdomen, pubic area, thighs, etc. Transmission is a little uncertain.
Avatar n tn hi, my name is dave and I have just got diagnosed with Molluscum Contagiosum. I have never had it before. I have a few lesions on my genitals and I am currently sexually active with my girl friend. I got it from my ex- girlfriend...my new girlfriend doesnt really know. what should I do?..am I still okay to have sex with her?...and one broke open this morning... it bled a little then stopped...what's going to happen?
Avatar n tn I had what I thought was a skin tag removed from the side of my vagina in July, 2007. It came back as Molluscum Contagiosum. I also had one on my arm and one on my foot a few month's ealier but those had gone away on their own. I didn't really think anything of them at the time because I didn't know what they were. I had sex twice, more then 1 1/2 years ago in July '06 which seems so long ago but that had to be how I got it.
