Avatar m tn However, there are no formal recommendations pending additional studies.4 Studies suggest that the current recommendation of 0.5-mm margins for lentigo maligna (melanoma in situ) is often insufficient. Mohs’ micrographic surgery and margin-controlled excision of lentigo maligna offer lower recurrence rates and allow tissue to be conserved." http://www.clevelandclinicmeded.
Avatar m tn Lentigo are flat brown lesions which do not darken following sun exposure and what you are having on face may be solar lentigo which is less than 5mm in diameter and irregular in shape but they may merge to form larger spots. Malignant lentigo or lentigo maligna is basically a melanoma in situ that consists of malignant cells but does not show invasive growth. It is found in elderly people and progresses very slowly and can remain in a non-invasive form for years.
Avatar n tn Hello, These spots can be due to nevus de cocarde or sun damage. Lentigo maligna is a melanoma in situ that consists of malignant cells but does not show invasive growth. You should get it evaluated from a dermatologist and get a biopsy skin done to confirm the diagnosis. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor.
Avatar f tn I am a sun worshipper - terrible I know but I am now putting 45 spf on my face and 30 on my body. I recently noticed a new mole that formed in the middle of my upper lip (above lip below nose). I asked the dermatologist about it and he said it was fine and if i wanted it removed it would be cosmetic and I would have to pay. I let it go for a few months but was getting frustrated with people telling me that I had ink on my face (it had a blue tinge to it) so I opted to have it removed.
Avatar n tn Hello, From the symptoms it does not sound like a herpes sore.It can be an oral melanocytic macule or a lentigo. It is a small, sharply circumscribed, pigmented macule surrounded by normal-appearing skin. Cryosurgery using liquid nitrogen and laser are the main treatment modalities. I would recommend a dermatologist’s consultation for this. I hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional doubts.Kind regards.
Avatar m tn I have been receiving cryotherapy for 3 years and they always come back. I was told that Aldara will help get my immune system involved in fighting the virus so I will have a better chance of losing the warts. Has anyone out there used thus treatment ? My next step if this doesn't work will have to be the cauterization method, ouch.
Avatar n tn These brown spots can be due to solar lentigo. Lentigo are flat brown lesions which do not darken following sun exposure and what you are having may be solar lentigo which is less than 5mm in diameter and irregular in shape but they may merge to form larger spots. Avatar m tn When do i stop using the aldara? I was proscribed enough for 16 weeks but i am not sure if i should just continue using the cream for the whole 16 weeks even if all the affected areas have started to erode and turn red and raw or if i should discontinue using it and see if any newer warts develop.
Avatar f tn aldara is very irritating to the skin sometimes. Your doctor thinking it could be herpes is a very common thing. Better to err on the side of caution though. You've both been tested for herpes before so the chances of this being genital herpes is very low. Not sure if either of you tested + for hsv1 or not on your testing you had done. We will gladly look at both ofyour herpes blood tests from back when you were tested if youw ant a 2nd opinion on them too.
Avatar m tn I have been using aldara for about a month on my genital warts and have had no burning or tenderness that I have heard people talk about on these forums. It has been working great and I am noticing my warts are starting to shrink. The other morning after using my aldara cream overnight I noticed a lump under my skin where I applied some aldara. It is very tender to touch and very noticeable.
Avatar m tn Hello, These dark spots can be Fordyce spots which are normally present on the penis, freckles or lentigo. I would suggest you to get it evaluated from a dermatologist and get the diagnosis confirmed. Lentigo is a small, sharply circumscribed, pigmented macule surrounded by normal-appearing skin. Avatar n tn i used aldara and i worked for me i used it for bout 2 wks n they went away. but dey came back.
Avatar m tn well i have been using aldara for about 2 weeks or so and my anal warts have dramatically decreased in size :) i did have bad side effects such as feeling tired and some body aches and really bad itching in the area causing me not to sleep at night but i stuck with it and its actually working somewhat. I did drastically change my diet though eating more vegetables and fruits and taking a daily vitamin and reducing alcohol intake and not smoking at all.
535760 tn?1213891166 I found using Aldara to clear up the majority of warts, and then using a different treatment (such as cryo) to clear any remaining warts seemed to be effective. I used a combination of TCA and Aldara, and have been wart free for a month now (took 3 months to entirely clear). Aldara has some discomfort associated with it, but I found it less painful than TCA (though much more itchy!). Any treatment for genital warts is uncomfortable though.
Avatar m tn 1. Should I wait and try Aldara Cream or just do the laser treatment, knowing that I didn't do any screening test?2. Can the genital warts get more spread after laser treatment since is in early stages of warts? 3. In future can Genital warts be cleared from my body and be able to get married with kids? 4. Is Co2 Laser Treatment is the best wart removal option? Hope to have suitable answers from you. Thanks in return.
Avatar m tn i think these questions best answered by ur doc unless someone comes on here whose been thru xactly what u've been!
Avatar n tn I have had genital warts for 5 years now and ive been using aldara for quite some time. aldara seems to work pretty well for the most part. while using aldara frequeantly i would experience some side effects like some pain or swelling after using it for a long period of time. i would stop the use and the redness/ swelling would go away and i would contine use and everything would be okay.
Avatar n tn Could this be a primary herpes outbreak or is it normal for the skin to react this way after ending aldara treatment? I experience minimal itching which i always have and no pain but to touch the affected ares is a little tender.
Avatar f tn I have a red what looks like spot on the outside of my foreskin around the head, I have had it for as long as I can remember. It is not painful and dosent do anything If I squeeze it. If I stretch the skin around it it resembles a skin defect or miscolouration. I also have a white fungus on the inside of my foreskin, it is hard and in streaks of pearls it dosent hurt or itch. I am 15 with no sexual contact. Any help appreciated.
Avatar m tn Hi, the glans of my penis has not looked uniform in colour for the last year or so. No pain, itching or discomfort just doesnt look very nice. I do have allergy to hair dye which I think triggered off the problem over a year ago and at that time did have a severe reaction in the form of hives which i think had an effect on the glans also. The head of my penis used to be unform pink shade (normal!)...now red bloches which on some days appears worse then others. Help/ advice appreciated. Thanks.
Avatar f tn Aldara is used for several skin conditions. Your doctor will tell you where to apply Aldara cream, and how often and for how long to apply it for your condition. Aldara should be applied just before bedtime and left on the skin for 6-10 hours. If your skin condition reappears you need to talk to your doctor.
