aldara

Avatar m tn When do i stop using the aldara? I was proscribed enough for 16 weeks but i am not sure if i should just continue using the cream for the whole 16 weeks even if all the affected areas have started to erode and turn red and raw or if i should discontinue using it and see if any newer warts develop.
Avatar n tn I was prescribed Aldara (imiquimod) to get rid of a few perianal HPV warts since cryotherapy was only making it worse. After only about 2 weeks of usage almost all symptoms of the warts were gone however I now have perianal psoriasis in its place. That is one of the side-effects of imiquimod and it mainly strikes people whom are genetically prone to having psoriasis.
Avatar f tn I have been trying to understand the difference between VP and HPV for months now, and to me my growths seem to be exactly like vp and nothing like hpv, I also read that vp can grow inside a vaginal canal. However, I think even in the medical world, many obgyns still think that squamous papilloma (or vp) is caused by hpv and treat it as warts. I am getting aldara treatment right now but I am extremely unsure of the diagnosis. How do I tell the difference?
Avatar f tn We have really scaled back our indications for the LEEP procedure in recent years. Secondly, ALDARA is for external use only and should not be applied internally. It certainly should not be applied on the cervix! If you were my patient, I would tell you to consider switching to a more conservative physician. Good luck!
Avatar n tn Hi. I used Aldara for two weeks and my warts went away. I didn't have to scratch or scrape. I don't think you should puncture them at all. The cream caused some severe skin reactions for me (and it was on my bum :( ) so I stopped using it two weeks in for about a week and then when I went to start applying the cream again the warts were gone.
Avatar n tn I went to the doctor, and they gave me Aldara for HPV. This was in January. Since then, I have had the worst yeast infections, and while one bump is slowly decreasing in size (and has hardened and turned quite red in the process), none of the others are changing size at all, and I am getting more tiny little white bumps within a few inches of the initial three bumps I had. I am pretty sure it is HPV, but it seems to be geting worse. I have been tested recently for HIV, and that was negative...
Avatar n tn 25 year old male. Genital warts had somehow spread to my anus. Awful and embarrassing. I tried Veregen but all it did was explode the number of perianal warts. The packaging says it could increase their number, but I really wasn't ready for that. It went from 4 or 5, to by my new doctor's count, more than 20. So we tried cryotherapy and a Rx of Aldara.
Avatar f tn So I found out last week that I have HPV (low-risk with genital warts). I'm really depressed, it feels like its the end of the world! My whole life I have practiced safe sex (except with my bf who I've been with for 2 years) and I have gotten yearly pap tests that came out normal. I really thought I was a healthy person until these bumps showed up! The doctor prescribed me Aldara cream and I just started using it last week, she said it can take up to 8-16 weeks for the warts to go away.
Avatar n tn I am at a loss what to do, the biopsy was high risk hpv, the site has been treated 2-3 times, the Aldara cleared a smaller wart near the biopsy site and Aldara has the lowest recurrence percentage of any treatment. I will try to get in to see the dermatologist ASAP, but should I ask for a biopsy to confirm? He may just want to freeze it, but I can t seem to clear the infection. Are there HPV experts I can go see? I am in the greater Washington DC area. What do you recommend?
Avatar f tn i used aldara and the symptoms went away. i figured it would just stay kind of dormant for awhile but i dunno. i made an appointment with my schools campus doctor and now it's just to he point of being really nervous. if it is herpes...idk. :\ thank you for responding! but what else could it be? hopefully something a little more cureable than herpes right? im scared.
Avatar n tn I have recently been using Aldara cream to try and eliminate my genital warts (HPV). Although the warts minimised in size after three months my doctor told me to stop using aldara because of the ineffectiveness and incredible sores and lesions that i endured whilst treatment. He reccomended me to a dermatologist for the treatment of the HPV.
Avatar m tn Hi I've been using Aldara for 3 applications now for what I believe are genital warts under my foreskin just below the ridge, they are only small. Up to now nothing has happened, no reaction, no itching no reddening of area nothing at all. I was expecting some sort of reaction or change with it being such a strong medicine. Is this normal?
Avatar m tn If I have your attention I'm assuming you have used Aldara or are planning on using it. I was finally prescribed Aldara after a few nitro treatments (some say it doesnt hurt, but I say it hurts horriblely). I have only used it for three applications and I have seen zero effects - as if I had never started using it. I have read that Aldara doesn't work for everyone, especially males... but I would like to know if anybody has had any success stories without unpleasent side effects?

Avatar m tn did a doctor diagnose you for genital warts and prescribed Aldara for you? If not so, please see a dermatologist and first get a correct diagnoses and talk to him about application of this cream... a mild irritation, soreness and itching is part of the healing process with this cream... you should apply petrolium jelly (vaseline) or some other moisturizer to help your pain relief and... stop using aldara without talking to your dermatologist first...
Avatar f tn If Aldera seemed to take care of the bump, its probably HPV. Strains of HPV can remain dormant for a while the pop up out of no-where...I have HPV and even though my hubby and I share the same strains (because we have un-protected sex) he shows no symptoms. I had a normal pap, showing no signs of HPV, or displaysia, the a few months ago, developed vaginal warts. Mine are on the labia majora as well.
Avatar f tn How was this diagnosed? There is no reliable test for men and HPV if you don't have actual warts present. Type 61 is a low risk strain, meaning it's not associated with higher chances for cancers. The IFN cream probably means that it's an interferon cream - though obviously I can't be sure about that without seeing it. Are you just supposed to rub it all over your penis 3 times a day for 8 weeks?
Avatar f tn I have genital HPV and I was treating the warts using Aldara. Applied a lot of the cream Monday to the outside of lower labia minora. Wednesday the labia was hard, swollen and really sore. Friday the swelling was reduced and in it place were 2 sore lesions located just inside the labia. I am now convinced it is herpes from looking at pictures online and reading the symptoms. I am also experiencing tingling down there too! I also have a decreased appetite although this could be from worry.
Avatar f tn I was prescribed aldara about 4 weeks ago but was not able to use it continuously because I also get the doctor to put podophilin on the warts when they are visible and that sometimes cause the irritation of the area, hence, I had to stop aldara for a few times already when that happened. I had my Pap Smear done 2 weeks ago and the test result was negative. I also had Gardasil vaccination last week. My questions are: 1. My gyno confirms that I don't have any warts inside my vagina.
Avatar f tn However the warts that were still present in the inside of my vagina were treated at the obgyn with Trichloracetic acid because the aldara was not working for me at all.
Avatar f tn She told me nothing else was wrong with my anus and sent me on my way - with a prescription for aldara. I started using the aldara that night (friday). A week later I was still having difficulties and went to another doctor. This doctor gave me a thorough exam. He found two large fissures at the entrance of my anus and prescribed a cream to help them heal, he also told me to increase fibre. I asked him to look at the warts - he told me there was no evidence whatsoever of warts.
Avatar m tn Since I am traveling oversees for several months, I self-diagnosed, and bought a 1-month supply of Aldara 5% Cream from an OTC pharmacy, and have been applying that following the directions in the product insert (3x/week, overnight). What seems odd is that the shape of the 'bumps' are flat, only slightly raised, flesh-toned (i.e.
Avatar m tn I recently went to the doctor to check out some bumps around my anus. He diagnosed them as warts caused by HPV. Of course I have tons of questions going through my head as to why? Or how? I understand there is a chance my immune system can suppress the virus. I am just starting my prescribed treatment of Aldara. My question is due to the location of the warts( no symptoms on penis or scrotum) is there a high chance of transmitting the virus through 'normal' vaginal intercourse?
Avatar m tn I have been dealing with HPV for over 6 months now. After stupidly trying to treat it myself for a couple of months, I finally went to a dermatologist and was prescribed Aldara topical cream to treat them. My lesions are different from the typical HPV warts in that they take the form of red/purplish papules that form mosaic patterns. This is caused by HPV type 16 - a high risk form.
