Aldara for flat warts

Common Questions and Answers about Aldara for flat warts

aldara

Avatar n tn Hello, I have also suffered with flat warts for almost 3 years now, and I know the pain you and especially you daughter feel. After trying various treatments, nothing seemed to be working at least not permanently. One thing that reduced the appearance of the flat warts was retinol cream at a strength of .05 but it is extremely drying to the skin and is very harsh especially on skin that is not used to it. I also was told to try aldara to no effect.
Avatar n tn I was prescribed aldara for the treatment of genital warts about two weeks ago and have used it as directed by my provider. The patch of lesions is located on the shaft of my penis, are small, relatively flat, and 1-2 cm in size. I started aldara therapy roughly two to three weeks after onset of lesions. My only concern is that the Aldera isn't triggering an immune response like it should. I have no erythema, edema or any other typical "side effects".
Avatar f tn aldara is very irritating to the skin sometimes. Your doctor thinking it could be herpes is a very common thing. Better to err on the side of caution though. You've both been tested for herpes before so the chances of this being genital herpes is very low. Not sure if either of you tested + for hsv1 or not on your testing you had done. We will gladly look at both ofyour herpes blood tests from back when you were tested if youw ant a 2nd opinion on them too.
Avatar m tn Since I am traveling oversees for several months, I self-diagnosed, and bought a 1-month supply of Aldara 5% Cream from an OTC pharmacy, and have been applying that following the directions in the product insert (3x/week, overnight). What seems odd is that the shape of the 'bumps' are flat, only slightly raised, flesh-toned (i.e.
Avatar m tn I would think it reasonable to apply the medication to the areas that had visible warts for 2-3 treatments after the warts seem to be gone, but probably it isn't necessary to go beyond that. 5) Missing. 6) Because of imiquimod's immunologic mechanism, it is often assumed (hoped might be a better word) that it might be associated with fewer recurrences than other wart treatments, and in its marketing efforts the manufacturer is happy to let people think so.
Avatar n tn the best thing i can tell u to do is see your dermatologist b/c there are other ways for the warts to be treated then with aldara and i havent seen them for bout 2 yrs now
Avatar n tn Last time I had warts my doctor gave me an RX for Aldara and that did work, it took about a week and a half and caused the warts to become smoother and smoother until they were flat and then nothing but a reddish spot and then gone.
Avatar m tn t sure whether or not it was actually a recurrence or just scar tissue from previously removed warts. He looked at them and said he believed they were in fact warts and proposed Aldara to treat them. He also claimed that I could have recurrences for the rest of my life and made other statements based on facts, that having frequented this forum as well as the ask an expert forum, I know to be outdated info or flat out myths.
Avatar n tn Welcome to our Forum. I'll be answering your questions. Dr. Handsfield and I share the forum. By chance you got me. FYI, the reason we share the forum is because we have worked together for nearly 30 years and while our verbiage styles vary, we have never disagreed on management strategies or advice to clients. I think these concerns are best addressed by starting at the beginning. With all due respect to the nurse who has been providing you with care, these may or may not be warts.
Avatar m tn 1. Should I wait and try Aldara Cream or just do the laser treatment, knowing that I didn't do any screening test?2. Can the genital warts get more spread after laser treatment since is in early stages of warts? 3. In future can Genital warts be cleared from my body and be able to get married with kids? 4. Is Co2 Laser Treatment is the best wart removal option? Hope to have suitable answers from you. Thanks in return.
535760 tn?1213891166 Not wanting to experience this again i would like to try another option because i still have a few tiny warts left and noticed a couple new ones. Is aldara the best way to go? or maybe even cryo? I read aldara is very effective and even builds an immunity?
Avatar m tn well i have been using aldara for about 2 weeks or so and my anal warts have dramatically decreased in size :) i did have bad side effects such as feeling tired and some body aches and really bad itching in the area causing me not to sleep at night but i stuck with it and its actually working somewhat. I did drastically change my diet though eating more vegetables and fruits and taking a daily vitamin and reducing alcohol intake and not smoking at all.
Avatar f tn I was prescribed aldara about 4 weeks ago but was not able to use it continuously because I also get the doctor to put podophilin on the warts when they are visible and that sometimes cause the irritation of the area, hence, I had to stop aldara for a few times already when that happened. I had my Pap Smear done 2 weeks ago and the test result was negative. I also had Gardasil vaccination last week. My questions are: 1. My gyno confirms that I don't have any warts inside my vagina.
Avatar n tn m not saying it will work for everyone, my doctor said as much, but it is a damn joke that this treatment exists and you have doctors charging you up the wazoo for laser surgery, surgical excision, Big Pharma charging you $300 bucks for a supply of Aldara or Veregen with spotty, suspect results. If your doctor won't give you the Candida antigen injection, get another doctor.
Avatar m tn I have been using aldara for about a month on my genital warts and have had no burning or tenderness that I have heard people talk about on these forums. It has been working great and I am noticing my warts are starting to shrink. The other morning after using my aldara cream overnight I noticed a lump under my skin where I applied some aldara. It is very tender to touch and very noticeable.
Avatar m tn Hi there all i am new to this forum and am looking for some help. I am a 21 year uncircumsized hispanic male I have been in a relationship with my current girlfriend for almost a year now about a month ago we both had unprotected sex again since we have been having unprotected sex in the past. I was a virgin before i had met her but she had been in many other relationships and promised me she was clean cuz her pap smear came back with no bad results.
Avatar m tn aldara is to be applied on the warts only and not the surrounding area... did a doctor diagnose you for genital warts and prescribed Aldara for you? If not so, please see a dermatologist and first get a correct diagnoses and talk to him about application of this cream... a mild irritation, soreness and itching is part of the healing process with this cream... you should apply petrolium jelly (vaseline) or some other moisturizer to help your pain relief and...
Avatar m tn I have seen 2 dermatologists and they assessed the bumps unlikely to be warts. Is it very easy to identify warts, especially for dermatologist?
Avatar n tn Hi. I used Aldara for two weeks and my warts went away. I didn't have to scratch or scrape. I don't think you should puncture them at all. The cream caused some severe skin reactions for me (and it was on my bum :( ) so I stopped using it two weeks in for about a week and then when I went to start applying the cream again the warts were gone.
Avatar m tn I am now using Aldara and it is slower. You can also see if there is a clinic in your area that treats for HPV/warts and be checked there.
Avatar m tn I just started Aldara, two weeks ago and it's going slow for me. Though I only have two warts and one is the first one I ever had, which after 4 acid treatments is still there so it may by scar tissue rather than a live wart at this time. The other is only 2 weeks old and really has not changed at all. So, I can't say how you will react to Aldara, I have read some people have warts gone quickly and some it takes a while. I am just happy not to have any new ones.
Avatar m tn Hi I've been using Aldara for 3 applications now for what I believe are genital warts under my foreskin just below the ridge, they are only small. Up to now nothing has happened, no reaction, no itching no reddening of area nothing at all. I was expecting some sort of reaction or change with it being such a strong medicine. Is this normal?
Avatar m tn So I went to a dermatologist last wednesday and he looked at the bumps with a very large magnyfying glass and he told me that he can almost tell someone right away that they have warts but he did not to me but he did say that they could be flat warts but that it doesnt look to serious and he asked me if I had trauma in the above situation which I do not believe I did. So he told me that I could treat it with aldara or liquid nitrogen.
Avatar m tn I have been treating anal warts for 8 weeks with aldara and after about 6 weeks i noticed they were slowly shrinking. While the visible warts are indeed shrinking (almost gone entirely), i know that there are internal ones in my anus that are still there, whether or not the aldara is helping them is undetermined.
Avatar f tn However the warts that were still present in the inside of my vagina were treated at the obgyn with Trichloracetic acid because the aldara was not working for me at all.
