Aldara for common warts

Common Questions and Answers about Aldara for common warts

aldara

Avatar f tn I was prescribed aldara about 4 weeks ago but was not able to use it continuously because I also get the doctor to put podophilin on the warts when they are visible and that sometimes cause the irritation of the area, hence, I had to stop aldara for a few times already when that happened. I had my Pap Smear done 2 weeks ago and the test result was negative. I also had Gardasil vaccination last week. My questions are: 1. My gyno confirms that I don't have any warts inside my vagina.
Avatar n tn So my doctor was about to cut them off, when I brought up the Candida antigen which is injected into common warts, plantar warts, etc as intralesional immunotherapy. She thought it was a great idea and we should try it. The injection was yesterday and by the end of the day yesterday the large warts were physically smaller, the smaller ones were disappearing. I'm shocked at how quickly results seem to be occurring.
Avatar n tn Hi. I used Aldara for two weeks and my warts went away. I didn't have to scratch or scrape. I don't think you should puncture them at all. The cream caused some severe skin reactions for me (and it was on my bum :( ) so I stopped using it two weeks in for about a week and then when I went to start applying the cream again the warts were gone.
Avatar m tn I would think it reasonable to apply the medication to the areas that had visible warts for 2-3 treatments after the warts seem to be gone, but probably it isn't necessary to go beyond that. 5) Missing. 6) Because of imiquimod's immunologic mechanism, it is often assumed (hoped might be a better word) that it might be associated with fewer recurrences than other wart treatments, and in its marketing efforts the manufacturer is happy to let people think so.
Avatar f tn aldara is very irritating to the skin sometimes. Your doctor thinking it could be herpes is a very common thing. Better to err on the side of caution though. You've both been tested for herpes before so the chances of this being genital herpes is very low. Not sure if either of you tested + for hsv1 or not on your testing you had done. We will gladly look at both ofyour herpes blood tests from back when you were tested if youw ant a 2nd opinion on them too.
Avatar m tn look and feel like what you had before, then most likely your anal warts have recurred. This is very common, especially in women and gay men, but also not rare in exclusively heterosexual men. (You do not say your sex or the sex of your partners -- although with the tanning and shaving my guess is you're female.) Genital and anal warts are sexually transmitted, i.e. it is an STD.
Avatar n tn the best thing i can tell u to do is see your dermatologist b/c there are other ways for the warts to be treated then with aldara and i havent seen them for bout 2 yrs now
Avatar m tn The skin on the head of the penis likely was in contact with the area where the aldara was applied and would have been in contact with it for some hours at night. Anyone know if this is a common reaction for aldara. Its similar but different to a cold sore that one gets on your lip.
2206935 tn?1373638605 ve been reading a lot and some doctors tell it just clears own, I just dont know with 16 as HPV 16 is very common and the strain that causes cancer. If your warts still there, I suggest you go to the doctor and let them freeze it if doesn't clear with aldara and warticon.
Avatar n tn there are over the counter treatments for common and foot warts but not for genital warts. for those you need to visit your doctor so he can preform one of a number of different treatments to make them go away. once he treated they may come back, usually within the first 3 months. the doctors on medhelp say that if you can go 6 months without a recurrence of warts then u can assume that your immune system has repressed the virus, as it does 90% of the time within 1-2 years like i said.
Avatar m tn If I have your attention I'm assuming you have used Aldara or are planning on using it. I was finally prescribed Aldara after a few nitro treatments (some say it doesnt hurt, but I say it hurts horriblely). I have only used it for three applications and I have seen zero effects - as if I had never started using it. I have read that Aldara doesn't work for everyone, especially males... but I would like to know if anybody has had any success stories without unpleasent side effects?
Avatar m tn 1. Should I wait and try Aldara Cream or just do the laser treatment, knowing that I didn't do any screening test?2. Can the genital warts get more spread after laser treatment since is in early stages of warts? 3. In future can Genital warts be cleared from my body and be able to get married with kids? 4. Is Co2 Laser Treatment is the best wart removal option? Hope to have suitable answers from you. Thanks in return.
535760 tn?1213891166 Not wanting to experience this again i would like to try another option because i still have a few tiny warts left and noticed a couple new ones. Is aldara the best way to go? or maybe even cryo? I read aldara is very effective and even builds an immunity?
Avatar m tn well i have been using aldara for about 2 weeks or so and my anal warts have dramatically decreased in size :) i did have bad side effects such as feeling tired and some body aches and really bad itching in the area causing me not to sleep at night but i stuck with it and its actually working somewhat. I did drastically change my diet though eating more vegetables and fruits and taking a daily vitamin and reducing alcohol intake and not smoking at all.
Avatar m tn I have been using aldara for about a month on my genital warts and have had no burning or tenderness that I have heard people talk about on these forums. It has been working great and I am noticing my warts are starting to shrink. The other morning after using my aldara cream overnight I noticed a lump under my skin where I applied some aldara. It is very tender to touch and very noticeable.
Avatar m tn aldara is to be applied on the warts only and not the surrounding area... did a doctor diagnose you for genital warts and prescribed Aldara for you? If not so, please see a dermatologist and first get a correct diagnoses and talk to him about application of this cream... a mild irritation, soreness and itching is part of the healing process with this cream... you should apply petrolium jelly (vaseline) or some other moisturizer to help your pain relief and...
Avatar f tn I'm a 36 year old Indian American female living in NYC who has not had sex for the last three years. About a year ago, I was diagnosed with a mild case of genital warts-10 or so (likely from my last partner from three years ago but unsure). I had unprotected sex with him a couple of times during our relationship and later I found out he was rather promiscuous (now I regret this).
Avatar f tn I know HPV is common and most everyone gets it, but how common are genital warts? Once the warts are gone, what are my chances in having more show up in the future? A week after I was with my last partner is when I started noticing the bumps. Can I assume that he gave it to me? When the warts are gone, is it ok to have unprotected sex and not tell my partner? When I went to the doctor, I also had an HPV test and my results came by negative.
Avatar m tn I just started Aldara, two weeks ago and it's going slow for me. Though I only have two warts and one is the first one I ever had, which after 4 acid treatments is still there so it may by scar tissue rather than a live wart at this time. The other is only 2 weeks old and really has not changed at all. So, I can't say how you will react to Aldara, I have read some people have warts gone quickly and some it takes a while. I am just happy not to have any new ones.
Avatar m tn Hi I've been using Aldara for 3 applications now for what I believe are genital warts under my foreskin just below the ridge, they are only small. Up to now nothing has happened, no reaction, no itching no reddening of area nothing at all. I was expecting some sort of reaction or change with it being such a strong medicine. Is this normal?
Avatar m tn I have been treating anal warts for 8 weeks with aldara and after about 6 weeks i noticed they were slowly shrinking. While the visible warts are indeed shrinking (almost gone entirely), i know that there are internal ones in my anus that are still there, whether or not the aldara is helping them is undetermined.
Avatar f tn However the warts that were still present in the inside of my vagina were treated at the obgyn with Trichloracetic acid because the aldara was not working for me at all.
Avatar n tn I have had genital warts for 5 years now and ive been using aldara for quite some time. aldara seems to work pretty well for the most part. while using aldara frequeantly i would experience some side effects like some pain or swelling after using it for a long period of time. i would stop the use and the redness/ swelling would go away and i would contine use and everything would be okay.
Avatar n tn I just found out I had HPV yesterday and had my warts frozen and was given aldara to use in two days time. My question was, when would it be ok to masturbate again, and when would it be ok to have sex again?
Avatar f tn The doctor prescribed me Aldara cream and I just started using it last week, she said it can take up to 8-16 weeks for the warts to go away. They're small bumps though so I hope it wouldn't take that long. My question is, for anybody that has used Aldara cream before, how effective is it? I know that it's supposed to boost my immune system so that my body can fight off the infection, but besides making the warts go away, does it really get rid of HPV?
