Common Questions and Answers about Aldara expensive

aldara

Avatar m tn I thought about the laser surgery which would be very expensive but the doctor put me back on the Aldara, which I filled this time, hoping it would take care of the problem. I have been on Aldara for about six weeks now, using it exactly as the box reads and being very careful with cleanliness. However, it appears that the warts are worsening and quite rapidly.
Avatar m tn just wondering do i really have to throw away each aldara packet after one usage... i feel like its such a waste since i only use like a fourth of it for each application...???
Avatar n tn I have had genital warts for 5 years now and ive been using aldara for quite some time. aldara seems to work pretty well for the most part. while using aldara frequeantly i would experience some side effects like some pain or swelling after using it for a long period of time. i would stop the use and the redness/ swelling would go away and i would contine use and everything would be okay.
Avatar f tn A week after the cauterization the warts came back and since it is so expensive I prefer not to have it removed. Is this a better plan or should I cauterized it again?

Avatar m tn This year I finally got health insurance and saw a doctor. I have used 4 rounds of aldara over the last 3 to 4 months and saw absolutely zero improvement. Hundreds of dollars gone and more warts keep sprouting. Please help! What can I do to get rid of these things. Any home remedies? Anything I can buy on the net? I saw a site for vidarox. It looked good but I'm skeptical and it's expensive. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks!
Avatar m tn i have tried a topical cream also called aldara which was expensive and i picked one off at the time before using it so not sure if it worked properly? please help as my doctor cant seem to tell me to much about it except getting them burnt off which will be painful and ill always have to explain my scars please help me?
Avatar n tn m new to all this forum stuff) but for a bikini line legs or under arms a more expensive razor is far less likely to leave bumps.
Avatar m tn there are several options, the least expensive is to try a topical solution like Podofilox. Supposedly it's available at Walgreens drug stores without a prescription. I bought an identical product for a friend in Mexico for $6. Aldara prescription cream for warts is ridiculously expensive, so unless you can get it at a huge discount try Podofilox first. There are other options like freezing them off, etc., but that requires a doctor visit.
2206935 tn?1373638605 No one treatment is better than another. People react differently to each type of method used. Your doctor may try to use liquid nitrogen and freeze your warts. I do not recommend surgery. Your warts will resolve eventually on their own anyway, be patient.
Avatar f tn I noticed about 2 years ago some bumps around my anus and on the inside of my groin area. I have been to a dermatologist and was told to use Aldara to treat the bumps, but that did not work because it was expensive and I could not keep up with the treatment to see it through. Is there anything that you can recommend that I do to get rid of these embarrassing bumps. I have a partner currently of three years and we have protected sex.

556286 tn?1215553880 t worry, I used to have these warts on my butts, and my doctor gave me Aldara cream 5% (imiquimod) and it went away within two weeks. Aldara is kind of expensive they're $300 for 12 tiny packets of about 4 water droplets. But they worked like miracle. Please ask you doctor for a prescription.
Avatar f tn t seem to have any more warts, but my dermatologist recommended that I try Aldara to boost my immune system. I've read a lot of negative reviews of Aldara (irritation, etc) so I wonder if it would be wise for me to use it, since it's very expensive but more importantly the irritation may not be worth it given I don't have any visible warts anymore.
Avatar f tn I'm a 36 year old Indian American female living in NYC who has not had sex for the last three years. About a year ago, I was diagnosed with a mild case of genital warts-10 or so (likely from my last partner from three years ago but unsure). I had unprotected sex with him a couple of times during our relationship and later I found out he was rather promiscuous (now I regret this).
Avatar f tn look for higher paying jobs or something if you are too stressed. They are expensive, but get 2nd hand clothes, cheap diapers(start buying early) or even cloth diapers?, try breast feeding/ pumping(formula is expensive). Hit up yard sales and internet sales. :) good luck to you! It is all so worth it!
Avatar m tn and after 2 weeks use i have had good results so far so if i were you i would go see your dermatologist if he recomends surgery set the date for about 1 1/2 months away and get them to prescribe you aldara in the meantime. use aldara and within 4 weeks if the warts have not reduced in size or started to clear then just go in for surgery.
535760 tn?1213891166 I used aldara with great success. However, I have read it has a higher success rate in females than males. Still, I do not know how credible this information exactly is. I found using Aldara to clear up the majority of warts, and then using a different treatment (such as cryo) to clear any remaining warts seemed to be effective. I used a combination of TCA and Aldara, and have been wart free for a month now (took 3 months to entirely clear).
4437866 tn?1388119624 Sorry to hear bout what you been going through. I myself have warts as well and still treating it with aldara for 3x a day, but since you're pregnant, i dont know if it's advisable for you to use it since aldara is a strong treatment for genital warts. Have you tried to go to another doctor for second opinion since your doctor doesn't want to take action for it?
Avatar n tn I have recently been using Aldara cream to try and eliminate my genital warts (HPV). Although the warts minimised in size after three months my doctor told me to stop using aldara because of the ineffectiveness and incredible sores and lesions that i endured whilst treatment. He reccomended me to a dermatologist for the treatment of the HPV.
Avatar m tn We show that isostearic acid, a major component of the vehicle, promotes inflammasome activation in cultured keratinocytes, and so may contribute to the observed effects of Aldara on murine skin. Aldara therefore stimulates at least two immune pathways independently, and both imiquimod and vehicle are required for a full inflammatory response. Although it remains to be tested, it is possible that imiquimod-independent effects also contribute to the therapeutic efficacy of Aldara.
Avatar m tn What? are you applying Aldara on entire genital area? aldara is to be applied on the warts only and not the surrounding area... did a doctor diagnose you for genital warts and prescribed Aldara for you? If not so, please see a dermatologist and first get a correct diagnoses and talk to him about application of this cream... a mild irritation, soreness and itching is part of the healing process with this cream...
Avatar m tn dont use aldara. I think ACV even does better than aldara although some people here would disagree with my opinion. You can get mini surgery like electrocauterization, cryotherapy, or use podofin and its variants. These three, afaik, are better than anything else to treat warts.
Avatar m tn hi there i have recently been using aldara cream for my anal warts (HPV) I have used it twice so far friday and monday. And today (tuesday) i have been feeling muscle pain, and i guess some kind of fever i feel cold or hot at various times of the day but i can function... but during the weekend i did play soccer and hockey and did sweat a lot and ran a lot.
Avatar m tn I have a few questions about using aldara. 1) is it harmful to shave on off days from using aldara? 2) Can shaving make the warts worse? 3) Is sex okay when the cream is not on the skin? Thank you!
Avatar n tn Hi. I used Aldara for two weeks and my warts went away. I didn't have to scratch or scrape. I don't think you should puncture them at all. The cream caused some severe skin reactions for me (and it was on my bum :( ) so I stopped using it two weeks in for about a week and then when I went to start applying the cream again the warts were gone.
