Common Questions and Answers about Aldara and squamous cell carcinoma

aldara

Avatar m tn Hello, Aldara cream or Imiquimod is used for treatment of actinic keratosis, warts and topical treatment of biopsy-confirmed, primary superficial basal cell carcinoma (sBCC) in immunocompetent adults. It is still not confirmed whether your mole is a malignancy or a mole. I would suggest you to get an evaluation done from a dermatologist. Confirmation can be done by excisional biopsy with narrow margins.

She had a ctPET scan and 13 days after surgery and has a 56.5 mm mass and 4-5 clusters of cancer cells in her abdomin, but nowhere else. On day 14 after surgery, she started chemo.
Avatar n tn This wound is now refusing to heal (the secondary wound not skin graft) and am wondering if I should ask my doctor for yet another biopsy on the non healing wound given it is so close to the original squamous cell carcinoma? Here in Australia the demographic for this cancer is approx 75yrs Male and worked in sun all life, I am however only 39, female and never worked in the sun, and only had two sunburns as a child no further exposures resulting in burns as an adult.
1094370 tn?1317134825 m 32 and have had my fair share of basal cell and squamous cell carcinoma. I think the cream you are referring to is Imiquimod/Aldara? It is essentially a topical chemo. Generally if it scabs it means it's working. Unfortunately I haven't had great success with it and have had to have the cancer surgically removed. Not sure where you live, but I have fantastic Doctor recommendations in NYC. Let me know if you want more info.
Avatar n tn Hi, Aldara is iquimod and has been approved by FDA for use in superficial basal cell carcinoma and external genital warts only. Not recommended for use in case of hemorrhoids. Let us know if you need any other information. Regards.
Avatar n tn The good news is the prognosis for cats with Squamous cell carcinoma is much better than it is for other types of cancer. If the cancer is treated early enough, squamous cell carcinoma in cats is usually treatable. In most cats with skin Squamous cell carcinoma, the prognosis following surgery is excellent. It is promising that the affected area is small. It is a much better prognosis than for nose, ears or mouth!
Avatar n tn Survival for squamous cell carcinoma is better than that for large cell carcinoma and small cell lung cancer, though slightly worse than for adenocarcinoma. Hope this helps.
Avatar n tn 32 year old male, Family history of Basal Cell Carcinoma in father and sister. Discovered 4 days ago. Lesion has smooth texture, is non tender, slightly elevated and 8 mm in diameter. Would you wait a few weeks to check for changes or would you see a dermatologist ASAP? Does anyone know what the differential diagnosis would be besides Basal Cell Carcinoma?

Avatar n tn Soemtimes a normal doctor does not know. Mine told me mine was nothing and yet it was a very malignant squamous cell carcinoma - I am now in treatment. I trusted my doctor for a lttle too long! The fact its gone down so much since yesterday though is a reassuring sign.
Avatar f tn I had Mohs Surgery on my lower lip 2 months ago for superficially invasive well-differentiated squamous cell carcinoma. 3 layers were removed, post-op size was 2.1 x 1.3 cm. I have been following up with a dentist, an ENT as well as a dermotologist. My surgeon says he got it all (clean margins). I was also told by ENT I have allergic rhinitis and I have a bad taste in my mouth, also on lips. All of this is stressing me because I lost my mother 5 years ago from oral squamous cell carcinoma.

Avatar f tn What percent of Squamous Cell Carcinoma patients subsequently develop brain cancer after successful Mohs surgery ? My last two check-ups have been great ; and my surgery experience was wonderful and without pain or incident - but in light of unexplained neurological problems , the thought crossed my mind . I have had two normal MRI's of the brain . The first was a closed MRI without contrast . The second was an open MRI also without contrast .
Avatar n tn White female, age 35, 20 years smoking, protracted oral lichen planus I was recently diagnosed with oral squamous cell carcinoma. It was on my R buccal mucosa. The path report says that it was early that there was a lot of inflamation. This was only last week so I'm floored. The "tumor" was small and I left it there for 2-3 months thinking that it was related to the lichen planus. It was a circular raised lesion covered with white -about the size of an eraser head.
329994 tn?1301663248 I just got back the results of skin biopsies and I have one that turned out to be cancer, but it is basal cell carcinoma. So why do I have squamous cells in my urine and what should I do about that? Thank you for any help.
Avatar n tn While transitional cell carcinoma (TCC) is the most common bladder cancer in the US, squamous cell carcinoma is the second most common. The finding on cytology suggest a pre cancerous lesion. You should see your doctor, urologist, for a cystoscopy. Thank you for your question. Dr.
Avatar m tn An estimated 3,500 new cases of skin cancer of the lips occur each year, and 90 percent of them are squamous cell carcinoma, according to an April 2008 MSNBC Health report, "Not just lip service: Gloss can invite skin cancer." If diagnosed in its early stages and treated properly, this form of cancer is not as serious as other types, according to the report. But left untreated, this carcinoma can cause lip disfigurement, and in rare cases it can spread and become deadly.
Avatar f tn The survival rate depends on what specific treatment was used in the clinical trial, and what organ the squamous cell carcinoma originated from (e.g. lung, head and neck, skin, unknown primary site, etc.). I can answer your question better if you can give me more details regarding the patient being treated (age, sex, etc.), the type of cancer being treated (lung, head and neck, etc.), and the treatment being given. Hope to hear from you soon.
963889 tn?1359677334 I was recently diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma on my hand and also a Hutchinsons melatonic freckle on my back ,both are malignant skin cancers. I wanted to post these two links as I had no real thought that mine were anything sinister. I always beleived that skin cancer was a mole gone wrong! neither of mine are moles.
Avatar m tn All I can find on the web is stupid Squamous Cell Carcinoma, not Squamous Cell Mucosa, but I did find something that says the whole mess is caused by a compromised immune system. Does anyone know anything about this? May I just say at this point, @*#*!*%#*@ Hepatitis C!!!! I just read the post about the man with high ammonia levels. Yeah. I'm reliving the terror I experienced when I was first diagnosed and failed my first treatment.
