The doctor called it vulvar dysplasia, and he prescribed aldara cream 3 times a week because he said that since there are so many a laser would be very painful and that we should try to remove some with aldara first. I have a few questions about using aldara. 1) is it harmful to shave on off days from using aldara? 2) Can shaving make the warts worse? 3) Is sex okay when the cream is not on the skin? Thank you!

but its totally up to how u both feel about it.....me and my b/f both have it and he shows sign but i dont ,and we still have a great sex life.... the only problem is...if ur partner has sex with someone else that has HPV but a different strain which there is over 100 different types u can get the new strain of HPV..its kinda like collect the whole set..lol.. and im not saying thats gonna happen..its just a bit of info...

Yes, I'm not saying that Aldara acts on HPV itself. It is indeed the body's own immune system that gets rid of HPV-infected cells, however since the virus is not systemic and lays on the outskirts of your skin, it is hard for the immune cells to detect it and excrete cytotoxins that destroy compromised cells. I did drastically change my diet though eating more vegetables and fruits and taking a daily vitamin and reducing alcohol intake and not smoking at all. I will continue using aldara and hopefully *fingers crossed* all the warts will go away :) im very thankful and hope i dont need surgery which the date was already set for. so for all of you that are in the same boat as i am in I would strongly recommend taking aldara its worth a try!

I used aldara with great success. However, I have read it has a higher success rate in females than males. Still, I do not know how credible this information exactly is. I found using Aldara to clear up the majority of warts, and then using a different treatment (such as cryo) to clear any remaining warts seemed to be effective. I used a combination of TCA and Aldara, and have been wart free for a month now (took 3 months to entirely clear).

i would stop the use and the redness/ swelling would go away and i would contine use and everything would be okay. recently i bought an aldara imitation cream, not the same brand name as aldara and have been experiencing more of a rash like reddish irritation where i use the cream. when i stop using it it will almost go away totaly but when i start back up using the cream the same rash in the same place will re appear. so im not sure if its the cheaper cream or if i have herpes.

I've been using Aldara for over two weeks now and am experiencing absolutely no side effects at all. Now I'm not disappointed believe me, but the one and only nice thing about side effects is that they indicate that whatever you are using is not "working" per-se but that it's doing *something*. did a doctor diagnose you for genital warts and prescribed Aldara for you? If not so, please see a dermatologist and first get a correct diagnoses and talk to him about application of this cream... a mild irritation, soreness and itching is part of the healing process with this cream... you should apply petrolium jelly (vaseline) or some other moisturizer to help your pain relief and... stop using aldara without talking to your dermatologist first...

from my research, aldara definetly affects every user differently. It gave me 'sores' all over the head of my ****, im uncircumcised, i beleive it is a better option for circumcised men because there isnt as much moisture without the foreskin. also, it didnt work. ive gotten them burned off 2x now, which hurt like a *****. my good friend back home does these procedures for a living and he has mentioned that the 'burning technique' and then aldara application is outdated.

Hi. I used Aldara for two weeks and my warts went away. I didn't have to scratch or scrape. I don't think you should puncture them at all. The cream caused some severe skin reactions for me (and it was on my bum :( ) so I stopped using it two weeks in for about a week and then when I went to start applying the cream again the warts were gone.

I went to the doctor, and they gave me Aldara for HPV. This was in January. Since then, I have had the worst yeast infections, and while one bump is slowly decreasing in size (and has hardened and turned quite red in the process), none of the others are changing size at all, and I am getting more tiny little white bumps within a few inches of the initial three bumps I had. The skin on the head of the penis likely was in contact with the area where the aldara was applied and would have been in contact with it for some hours at night. Anyone know if this is a common reaction for aldara. Its similar but different to a cold sore that one gets on your lip.

Im a 19 year old male and i was diagnosed with Molluscum Contagiosum about 5 months ago on my genitals. I used Aldara cream which got rid of most of them and im basically clear of them however now on the shaft of my penis there is a spot where the skin is very raw looking. i put polysporin on it to help it heal. They started off small at the beggining of my pregnancy but have since multiplied and gotten huge. I know its normal to happen during pregnancy but my doctor will not remove them til the baby is born the 4th of july. They will be horrible by then! I already feel ugly and dirty about it to the point I cry and won't let my hubby see me naked. I can't get my area waxed so now I feel like a neanderthal ( wrong spelling sorry)...

However when I was first diagnosed with genital warts I used aldara for them and never experienced outbreaks like I do today. I would experience outbreaks probably once a year and they would go away without treatments and then no more for about a few years. I'm not sure why I am experiencing outbreaks so frequently. Maybe because I get a little stressed at times hpv tends to affect the immune system when it's weak and stress is a factor right.

hi , i would like to find out if i am currently on aldara immuqioud 5 % cream, and the skin is reddish can i stilll have sex, without the cream on.

I then attributed it to either an infection or something related to the warts infection. So my questions are 1) should I try Aldara or just wait to see if any warts show up and 2) what about HSV testing? Is my doctor accurate that it's not necessary given I have no symptoms or should I just get an HSV test because it can be completely asymptomatic?

Gosh, this is so embarassing, but thank you all for your comments. Very very appreciated. I'm going to stop the Aldara for a while and see if that changes anything and look to deal with the warts another way, I suppose. Will they just go away on their own? Thanks again!
