Aldara and plantar warts

Common Questions and Answers about Aldara and plantar warts

aldara

Avatar n tn So my doctor was about to cut them off, when I brought up the Candida antigen which is injected into common warts, plantar warts, etc as intralesional immunotherapy. She thought it was a great idea and we should try it. The injection was yesterday and by the end of the day yesterday the large warts were physically smaller, the smaller ones were disappearing. I'm shocked at how quickly results seem to be occurring.
Avatar n tn I'm a healthy 21-year old female. My fiance and I lost our virginity to one another three years ago and have been sexually exclusive with one another ever since. My regular MD felt I should wait until age 21 to have my first pap smear, so all routine physicals have been through her. Nothing has come up irregular. This week I had my first pap smear. My doctor delivered the news that she "thinks" I have genital warts.
Avatar m tn I just started Aldara, two weeks ago and it's going slow for me. Though I only have two warts and one is the first one I ever had, which after 4 acid treatments is still there so it may by scar tissue rather than a live wart at this time. The other is only 2 weeks old and really has not changed at all. So, I can't say how you will react to Aldara, I have read some people have warts gone quickly and some it takes a while. I am just happy not to have any new ones.
Avatar m tn My girlfriend was recently diagnosed with genital warts. She has six warts in different places. One is by her vagina and the rest are by her anus. Her doctor told her she can treat the warts, but that things like stress, pregnancy and illnesses can make them come back.
Avatar n tn Welcome to the Forum. Aldara tends to work best in warts which have recently appeared and it's activity is, at least in part, correlated with the reaction that it generates. If you have been using Aldara for 4 weeks with no effect and little local reaction, it is time to try something else such as freezing with liquid nitrogen. In answer to your specific questions however: 1. No, the location has little to do with response.
Avatar m tn http://www.dermnet.com/images/Warts-Plantar/picture/10059 The above looked exactly like the clustered abnormal cells i had, but mine was clearly havind round rings, as the egcg cream gave a chocolate color contrast to the abnormal wart. Its gruesome. Mayb i will try n post pic. Of note, the interesting part is that, it seems plantar wart can hide in genitals areas? And only become obvious upon stimulation?
Avatar m tn plantar warts can go under the skin.....may have to cut that out!
Avatar n tn I was prescribed Aldara (imiquimod) to get rid of a few perianal HPV warts since cryotherapy was only making it worse. After only about 2 weeks of usage almost all symptoms of the warts were gone however I now have perianal psoriasis in its place. That is one of the side-effects of imiquimod and it mainly strikes people whom are genetically prone to having psoriasis.
535760 tn?1213891166 Not wanting to experience this again i would like to try another option because i still have a few tiny warts left and noticed a couple new ones. Is aldara the best way to go? or maybe even cryo? I read aldara is very effective and even builds an immunity?
Avatar m tn and after 2 weeks use i have had good results so far so if i were you i would go see your dermatologist if he recomends surgery set the date for about 1 1/2 months away and get them to prescribe you aldara in the meantime. use aldara and within 4 weeks if the warts have not reduced in size or started to clear then just go in for surgery.
736128 tn?1232158671 There are many forms of treatment for plantar and other warts. Some warts, including plantar warts, disappear without treatment. Home treatments include salicylic acid and tape occlusion. A doctor can also prescribe prescription or over-the-counter medications to help heal plantar warts. A physician can also use an electrical current to burn a wart or laser surgery. Cryotherapy involves using a freezing liquid to dissolve a wart.
Avatar m tn aldara is to be applied on the warts only and not the surrounding area... did a doctor diagnose you for genital warts and prescribed Aldara for you? If not so, please see a dermatologist and first get a correct diagnoses and talk to him about application of this cream... a mild irritation, soreness and itching is part of the healing process with this cream... you should apply petrolium jelly (vaseline) or some other moisturizer to help your pain relief and...
Avatar n tn Hi. I used Aldara for two weeks and my warts went away. I didn't have to scratch or scrape. I don't think you should puncture them at all. The cream caused some severe skin reactions for me (and it was on my bum :( ) so I stopped using it two weeks in for about a week and then when I went to start applying the cream again the warts were gone.

Avatar f tn A plantar wart (also verruca plantaris or verruca) is a wart caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV) occurring on the sole or toes of the foot. Plantar warts are generally harmless and self-limiting, but should be treated to lessen symptoms (which may become painful)." Does that mean that anyone who has had a plantar wart has HPV and is contagious? Is this the same as genital HPV?
Avatar m tn Hi I've been using Aldara for 3 applications now for what I believe are genital warts under my foreskin just below the ridge, they are only small. Up to now nothing has happened, no reaction, no itching no reddening of area nothing at all. I was expecting some sort of reaction or change with it being such a strong medicine. Is this normal?
Avatar m tn Hello, I'm a male, 26yrs old. Can anyone describe their experiences with Imiquimod? I am on the 3.75% cream which my doctor has told me to use every other day for a month. In the first 2 weeks, nothing happened, only just a couple days ago I noticed a very slight indication that the medication might be working, but I'm still not sure. I have about 20-30 very small warts, and notice 2 or 3 of them showing a bit of redness and drying up a bit.
Avatar m tn I have been treating anal warts for 8 weeks with aldara and after about 6 weeks i noticed they were slowly shrinking. While the visible warts are indeed shrinking (almost gone entirely), i know that there are internal ones in my anus that are still there, whether or not the aldara is helping them is undetermined.
Avatar f tn However when I was first diagnosed with genital warts I used aldara for them and never experienced outbreaks like I do today. I would experience outbreaks probably once a year and they would go away without treatments and then no more for about a few years. I'm not sure why I am experiencing outbreaks so frequently. Maybe because I get a little stressed at times hpv tends to affect the immune system when it's weak and stress is a factor right.
Avatar n tn I have had genital warts for 5 years now and ive been using aldara for quite some time. aldara seems to work pretty well for the most part. while using aldara frequeantly i would experience some side effects like some pain or swelling after using it for a long period of time. i would stop the use and the redness/ swelling would go away and i would contine use and everything would be okay.
Avatar m tn Just started a treatment of Aldara today. I always seem to have a few small genital warts on me. Does anyone know what I can expect. I am 31 and healthy in every way. I have been receiving cryotherapy for 3 years and they always come back. I was told that Aldara will help get my immune system involved in fighting the virus so I will have a better chance of losing the warts. Has anyone out there used thus treatment ?
Avatar n tn I just found out I had HPV yesterday and had my warts frozen and was given aldara to use in two days time. My question was, when would it be ok to masturbate again, and when would it be ok to have sex again?
Avatar f tn s immune system to eliminate cells that have been infected by the virus. And with this, there is a smaller chance that the warts will come back. But if Aldara does not work with me, I will take your advice and use the method of freezing. Thanks for your help and support!
Avatar n tn m under treatment and uses Aldara as prescribed. I usually have protected sex and I thought I was exposed to this STI due to recent obsession on anal rimming. Just wanted to clarify the chance of one getting anal/genital warts through unprotected rimming??? How does the types of viruses that results anal warts get transmitted??? is it only through skin to skin contact or can there be a chance of getting these types transmitted through oral sex practises like sucking and rimming????
Avatar f tn Can a Plantar Wart be spread to someone, causing them to have either a wart on their face or body? Or are Plantar Warts spread as Plantar Warts? (If one touches the surface of an object that a plantar wart has touched, can one contract a wart on their face? or is it only possible to contract a plantar wart?
Avatar n tn I have recently been using Aldara cream to try and eliminate my genital warts (HPV). Although the warts minimised in size after three months my doctor told me to stop using aldara because of the ineffectiveness and incredible sores and lesions that i endured whilst treatment. He reccomended me to a dermatologist for the treatment of the HPV.
Avatar f tn i have been diagnosed with warts which appeared suddenly after i went of the pill, i have become paranoid about this and it the doc has given me aldara which i used and was sucessful except on 2 stubborn warts but they have now appeared in other places i have ordered more aldara.
