A nurse came, this happened in a foreign country so I didn't get all of what she said, but I understood that I had been diagnosed with acute alcohol intoxication (alcohol poisoning), that I spent the night in a vodka-induced coma and that I could've died. I think she said my blood alcohol content was 500 or .50. They kept me under observation all afternoon, tested my urine, and I had to call my parents to pick me up. After that, I had the most awful hangover for a week.
His wife took him to the hospital 2 days later and the Dr said he had alcohol poisoning and to drink a lot of water. No IV. The 3rd day he was the same so his wife took him to the ER. They said it was alcohol poisoning. Gave him 3 bags of IV. Sent him home after. It is no the 4th day and he is still the same. I forgot to mention that we were camping and to get anywhere, you'd need a boat. So my question is, could he have brain damage?
stick to the symptoms only and forget about the poisoning... poisoning doesn't work like that. also you aren't "brain damaged" but rather your brain and cognitive functions are "disturbed" by something. it doesn't necessarily mean that it will damage your brain. stay calm, Doctors are trained to recognize emergencies. when they don't recognise your symptoms it probably also means that they can't do anything about it... so why even bother insisting.
Can't understand why they gave you antibiotics for food poisoning though...you normally just vomit it out...or get severe diarrhea for a few days. Normally they only give them if you either had sepsis ( blood poisoning ) or were pregnant with listeriosis. The only other time is if you have a compromised immune system. Anyway, if you only had the food poisoning a few days ago, then your stomach may be sensitive still. If it's been a few weeks...then you have a totally different problem. .

I was put on Warfarin (Coumadin) but was not given any warning about alcohol and at least on 2 occasions drank quite heavily (about 5 or 6 glasses of wine in one evening). I have had a series of bodily changes including increased veins on my nose face and on the palms of my hand. Upon returning to the States, I consulted with a doctor who suggested that I get off coumadin given that my clots were in superficial veins. However, two days following my getting off coumadin, (1.

My first drink of alcohol (One Beer) About 10 minutes later I had a wicked migraine, I had thought that something else triggered it and thought nothing of it, later that month about ten minutes after I drank a beer again it came back and has done so every time. Oddly enough harder achohol does not trigger it as fast I wonder if anyone else has noticed this in themselves. These are some of the things i've done to help stave off the headache, I hope it works for you as well.
I know it is his intention to take the drug again and in conjunction w/ alcohol. He is not aware that I know. How long does the drug stay in one's system? Can we, as parents, buy a drug test to randomly give him? How dangerous is this drug? How can we tell if he is under the influence?
9) joint pain - like flu but also only on the first two days of episode I was admitted to the hospital one time in my worst episode, they diagnosed it as food poisoning (in The Bahamas) but another doctor later said I probably had alcohol poisoning. You basically have to do the math here yourself. Even AA doesn't claim that everyone's an alcoholic, and they don't begrudge those who can handle their liquor and stop when they've had enough.
Most drugs in the Physician's Desk Reference tell you do not drink while taking this drug and for very good reason. Since alcohol and most drugs are processed by the liver, alcohol, which takes alot of time to be processed compared to other things, affects the way the liver processes everything else. Also, the byproduct of alcohol leaving the liver is a toxin that can also affect your pancreas.
It was three days before they decided to induce me for our baby to be born 2 weeks before his due date. they said they dont like the pregnancy going full term just in case the baby starts to get too big with all the extra insulin floating about in the blood stream. so i prepared myself for a delivery the thursday of late november 2007. On the monday before that date though, our baby stopped moving and we became very worried. we got ourself up the the hospital as quickly as we could.

Hopefully someone from the hospital staff can give you more information as to the cause of the liver inflammation and hope he has a successful recovery.
I get out of bed and feel just wacked out all day. Then after 3 days of this I sleep about 14 hours straight and I feel I could sleep forever. I get up and still feel just as weird. Now I use to get symptoms sort of like this years ago, but it was different. I would feel like I was coming down with a flu sort of. Tired, fuzzy thinking and an slightly ill feeling. That would turn after a few days into what it would feel like if you had the worst hangover of your life.
But also needing to get home and my son was with me. Well long story. Now still 3 days later I am still having dizzy spells, weak shaky moments, waves of nausea, low grade headaches, and most disconcerning a dull discomfort in my chest area. Tramadol is a demon from the lower world. I never ever had a problem stopping cfdiene or vicodin ... ick; that stuff *****, it doesn't work AND it makes you feel very very Dark! ... even coming off Xanax was no biggie compared to THIS! I feel mentally clearer but as if someone beat me with a bat.
I cleaned it with alcohol and 2 hrs later it was half it's size. 24hrs later(with regular alcohol cleaning) it's almost completely gone. So was it a cold sore or something else?
They were also charging me for man slaughter, because one kid “almost” died of alcohol poisoning. My court dates all interfered with my suicide plan. The bastards made sure to postpone and then cancel all of my court dates, and made me come back daily, really early in the mornings, hoping I would miss a date. I went to Wachiay Friendship Center and got a free court worker, but there was nothing she could do. Then I had some luck.

I had a CT done 5 days later because it takes time for my head to react and I had just a mild inflammation! No excess fluid, nothing broken. Then again, it would take a pretty hefty blow to the "normal" person's head to cause death, right? I guess it depends on where exactly you would hit your head (as in the posterior fossa region). And a drink sounds wonderful right now! Enjoy!
